GW2 actually has an Endgame and Gear Progression!!

elockeelocke Member UncommonPosts: 4,335

Actually, now that I'm 75 and seeing the endgame zones.  Endgame in GW2 PVE wise is fantastic and just plain chaotic.  Tons of events, epic ones at that, all happening in 3 to 4 zones, you feel like your are part of a major war effort going on, more so than even the games with WAR in their names ever gave us.   Best part is, you pretty much RAID to do it all but without the hassle of forming a raid or waiting on people.   Chat is filled with calls to this event or that event and calls on how to bring a boss down and so forth at various temples, it's FANTASTIC.

On top of that, there IS a gear hunt/grind but you aren't ostracized from groups for having lesser gear and you don't have to make a calendar of raid times to set up for, you can just go find a set you like via crafting, dungeons, Legendaries, Orr temples and then work on getting them on your time and in the most fun way possible.  And that's just PVE, then you have WvW and sPVP with PVP gear to go for.  PLENTY to do at cap.

For those like me who like alts, I still have 2 other choices in in the main storyline as well as racial storylines.  Crafting the other professions, dye collecting, map completion of which I'm no where near finished.  SO much to do, I dare say it makes every MMO I've ever played before this look pathetic in the endgame department.  All except FFXI.  That game also had TONS of content at most levels and endgame.  But that's another topic for another forum, ;D

So anyway, just thought I would bring this up partly so that those detractors who keep shouting "It has no endgame!" "What's the point if there is no gear progression?!" "It's just like every other MMO!" can be stifled and shown the door.

Just trying to share my excitement over this nebulous GW2 endgame we have heard in so many various forms over the past few years and we were never quite able to nail down.  Probably because they do it different than everyone else, just like the rest of the game.

Thanks for telling us.  And i'm glad that there are still more things to do at level cap.  i was never worried about it anyway.  Even in GW 1, the major and bulk part of the game started at level cap so I was sure that there will be stuff to do at level cap in GW 2.

I remember somebody warning the community about the grind, but that person was bashed big time. What was the person's name again?

Wait so you made this thread to disprove haters in other threads? Why is this important? Is this worth the ensuing battle that is sure to come? How is this even a discussion? What am i supposed to talk about here? That you are right? That your opinion is better. Seriously, of youre fed up with these types of fanboy v hater threads, stop making them.

IIRC, your version of "grindy," was trying to compare GW2 to an AsianMMO grind fest.

Luckily, what the OP stated wasn't opinion.. It was just fact of the game.

If you don't have anything to contribute to a thread, you don't have to feel obligated to post. Are you that concerned about your post count that you 'have' leave a comment in every single thread that was created? Nope. If you don't feel like you can contribute to a thread, then don't post in it. I know, logic is a very difficult thing for the brain, but try it out some time and you may get used to it!

I didnt deserve that. I wasnt being spiteful in my post. Why are you insulting me? Id just like to know why the op felt the need to make an anti troll thread. If hes having such a blast, why would it matter what a couple of haters think?

I'm not into "endgame" but this good to know. This is a positive change. Better than "If you don't have X build/score GTFO".

Easy? Rofl!  Hardly easy, when the legendaries require skill points of over 200 to buy, of which you will mostly get from dinging a level post 80.  Crafting isnt' easy either unless you buy all the mats or have them given to you.  Matter of fact, I never said EASY at all, so not sure where you are even going with your comment.  Tonight, we tried to do the Balthazaar Temple event.  We failed.  Twice.  The boss has a nasty mid life heal that we haven't quite figured out.  Very much like a raid boss.  This in a 70-75 zone replete with mobs that will make you run home to mommy with all their annoying pulls, stuns, cripples and bleeds.  Lol.  Make's Mordor look like childs play.

You had a tone, lol.  But anyway, with my thread title and the facts I laid down, I hardly made the thread JUST to anti troll the haters.  That was just a side benefit.  My real point is how awesome the endgame is and that the game HAS one, no matter the odd things we've heard.

What are you talking about?  GW2 has no "grind".  All of the stuff at endgame is "optional" and takes time, but I wouldn't put a negative connotation on it with the world "grind".  Besides, Anet only stated that the leveling game had gotten rid of the level grind due to the linear scaling of content and leveling.  So, anyway...

Yes, I do mind actually.  You come across as someone who likes to stir the pot or instigate things when they don't need to be, so no, you don't have my permission to twist my words to suit your agenda, whatever that may be.  Heck, even in my phrasing it's fairly obvious that "grind" has different meaning to everyone.  Even if you mean it for "good" which I doubt, I just don't trust you.  Far too many of your posts are antagonistic.

    never doubted  it.

You get skill points for dinging additional "levels" past 80? Cool, if it's anything like GW1 one will pretty much have always something to spend skill points, if legendaries are any indication of that.

No I am more interested in your statement of endgame stuff is optional.

What do you mean by that?

Meaning I could hit 80 and park the toon.  I guess that's optional in any game now that I think of it, but I won't feel like I'm being left behind if I do that and roll an alt like I would in other games.  So yeah, the optional is more apt for GW2, me thinks.

PvPers dont need to grind for gear if they stay just for spvp and tourtaments.

And also you already have a reputation of hating all MMOs and only start negative threads to provoke arguments..

From what I've gathered crafting is the easiest way to get best gear available. Lack of TP makes it a bit harder than it should, but there are already posts by people who've done it with very little effort. And those crafted max stat items can be traded too so obtaining them should nto be a problem after a little while (and working TP).

All dungeon/karma armor is for skins, stats seem to come from crafting with least effort.

I want to ask a simple yes or no question. Feel free to elaborate but I would like it to start with a 'yes' or 'no'

Is it possible, one way or another, to get the best STATISTICAL gear doing the dynamic events? Be it through simply 'farming' and buying them, points, possibly looting resources for some sort of turn in or craft, etc, etc.

Because quite frankly, I LIKE raiding. Probably because I haven't done all my raiding on WoW/SWTOR and haven't therefore been 'soured' on it. and I like raiding because its one of the few things in MMO's that actually makes me think 'massively multiplayer' and the closest GW2 seems to have to that is their dynamic events.

I didnt get why people force themselfs to lvl to endgame then complain that its such a grind. Seeing hows theres like mutliple ways to level. Its like you have a perfectly good escalator but you complain about taking the stairs.
