I believe what he means is there is no Gear progression, there is not a lot of dungeons and no raid content, and no DE's are not very much fun. The main quest story line is pretty damn limited and the heart system of quests is boring. People were like the quest system in GW2 is awesome you don't have the same boring quest hubs. Uhm you go to a heart and then have to kill x things or gather x things with no story line to back it up, questing in GW2 is very weak.
sounds like you haven't played the game at all and know very little about it... game has gear progression(not just cosmetic) hearts are not the core part of the games PVE not even close.. game has 8 dungeons with multiple modes which is more than most games release with.. game has open world raiding.. and as for them not being fun that's all an opinion but if you are basing it off just the starter DEs then that's like saying any game PVE sucks because you failed to get out of the starter area and experience what the game has to offer. I found the starter DE's way more interesting than any quest hub based MMO starter area quests.

there's a big difference between not liking a game and not knowing anything about it.
Almost all of your 300 posts every day are like this, someone doesn't like X and you use opinions as facts.
"Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them's making a poop, the other one's carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge."
"The idea behind the tuxedo is the woman's point of view that men are all the same; so we might as well dress them that way. That's why a wedding is like the joining together of a beautiful, glowing bride and some guy" -Seinfeld

So you asked a question and answered it yourself? Nice.
As for your "question" I don't think GW 2 will drop as drastically as SW:TOR, which essentially was a single player MMO, but it is a ThemePark at its core and the PvP is not all that it is hyped up to be so it will lose maybe half of their current playerbase within 6 months.
By the end of the 1st Month it will lose half of their playerbase, i hate WoW, but gw2 is not the game that everyone was waiting and sadly MoP will hit Hard the GW2 population, is B2P and it doesnt really matter, but it does if you dont want a doorwars 2.0 in the WvWvW map.
It won't get a free pass but they can disguise it better because they do not have to deal with subscriptions. They can say anything they want if they choose to. This is part of the reason why I dislike f2p or b2p mmos. Quality suffers because of the business model.

Probably the truest statement in this whole thread 3000+ post in 7 month is pretty ridicules.
The world in GW2 is not vast, is not open, i not free to explore; Is heavily instanced with paths and roads everywhere, is a themepark, even more than swtor, the zones are divided for level range, walls and surrounded by mountains so the only way to go from one map to the next one, is following a path and break through a portal. And as far as i know, GW2 is far behind swtor on sales, and is B2P and people should wait a month, the gw2 population will drop significantly.
It is Star Wars and BW's mmo for KOTOR series. Of course it is going to have more initial sales than GW2. For now...we'll see about sales in a couple months though.
I don't see how you think this game is more themepark than SWTOR at all.
...and no I'm not one of those running around saying this is a sandbox game. I also don't see where this is more instanced either. There is a lot of exploring one can do in these zones. For explorers, this is one of the best mmos I have seen in some time.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Honestly, I'll ask again, did you read it.
Lets start. game has gear progression(not just cosmetic): This is fact. You can't deny it, no matter what your views are.
game has 8 dungeons with multiple modes which is more than most games release with.. game has open world raiding: Again am I missing the opinion here? Sorry, I forgot that she just believes taht these exist instead of them actually being there in the game. Hmmmm..
I don't care that you don't like the game, good for you, but you're bashing someone and stating that all her posts are opinion instead of READING them.
You stated, there is no gear progression (not an opinion), that there are hardly any dungeons (pretty sure 8 with multiple modes suffices for launch since most have maybe 1 raid you can do and maybe 4-5 dungeons with only 2 modes if that to do at max, this has 8 with 3 modes). So yes, there are counter points. But please enlighten me on the error of my ways.
Facts and opinions are 2 completely different things. You might want to look up the definitions before you post a rebuttle next time. If you couldn't see it from her post about diablo 3 that you clearly don't understand the difference, then I clearly am wasting my time.
AOC, AION, WAR, SWTOR are failures. TERA and TSW, well, they seem to be going there, but who knows. Rift is a full sucess for Trion and the it's community.
it seems u stoped playing aion back in 2009 ?
aion 3.0 is very good and its f2p.
aion 4.0 has been announced at gamescom and 3 new class...bard,a gun class and the third is a secret.
SWTOR failed because it was an instanced singleplayer game and people just ran out of content and stopped playing, like they do with singleplayer games. And because it did nothing new.
GW2 emphasizes community, long term RvR, and has a few nice innovations to keep people going.
Originally posted by lifeordinary Originally posted by BetaguyOriginally posted by PaddyspubBeen playing GW2 since EA on the 25th and imo it is much, much, much, much more polished game with a beautiful world, interesting races, interactive pvp, the game engine isnt absolute trash, launches with basic features and then some, AH isnt horrid (ok, so it is down alot, though, which is annoying). GW2 has all this and more and its F2P. So the game has started out strong but so did SWTOR, but then again, game had so much hype that, I think, alot of people were blinded and didnt see how flawed the game was. I personally, dont think GW2 will poop out like SWTOR did. GW2 is #1 or #2 on the xfire chart, so that is a good sign. Hopefully we finally have a good alternative to go to for something different instead of Wow, and wont be another AoC, Aion, Warhammer, Rift, TSW, SWTOR.
Game will sink just like SWToR.... my prediction.Predictions..predictions..i predict pigs will fly.
In a straight up experience comparasin, I find that despite I am mainly playing solo, I feel more like part of the community in GW2 than I ever did in SWTOR.
I don't feel the need to group up for content because we are already grouped. People help each other most of the time without issues and they rez and heal complete stangers without being jerks.
Overall I like this feeling. I try to thank anyone that might rez me, although in some cases the battles are a bit too intense to be worried about manners. I hope no one feels slighted. I certainly don't if I do not get the Thanks, but this goes out to everone else that does rez and heal...giant thanks!
GW2 for me is a game that should not be played in a linear way. You should settle back and take your time to learn the combat, the skills, and the weapons. Combat is about when to swap weapons and how to deal with the different mobs because they vary a great deal. There is plenty of challenge in this game if you want it.
SWTOR was no challenge for me at all until end game raiding, and the challenges there were based mostly on random instance gliches and the skills of the group more than the game.
I haven't run any dungeons in GW2 yet to be fair, but already in the normal game play I find that I have to exercise caution before running around attacking anything that moves. A player can bite off way more than they can chew in GW2 very, very quickly.
I haven't tried out the pvp yet because I feel it is smarter to understand the skills, weapons, and how they work before going up against more experiences players at this point.
I was very competent in SWTOR in pvp. I was often top of the lists for medals and truely played the game for that purpose only. There are aspects of the pvp in SWTOR I do not like but few of them were game breaking, I just prefer a larger map where strategy and team planning can be ongoing. When Ilum was deemed a failure, I grew bored of the warzones very quickly.
I have no issues with "Zerg" pvp overall. In my experience very few games can keep such things out of the game if large numbers of people are going to participate.
I can't say for sure that GW2 is going to be the long term game investment for me. Time will tell. I can say that after a week despite a couple of small glitches I am really enjoying the game and having fun.
SWTOR at the same point was still new and interesting, but I felt as if I had to eat the content as quickly as I could in order to keep up with everyone else. I never got distracted for hours on end the way I have been in GW2. I can lose time there very easily.
Hey, OP, it's hard but I persevered and managed to cook up a scenario for you depicting how GW2 can actually *share* SWTOR's fate. Here you go:
They suddenly go P2P and somehow spend a couple of hundred million doing it.
They change their game's name to Star Wars: The Guild Wars, and claim the game is akin to Guild Wars 1, 2, 3, 4... 9.
Where of course, it's not. It's not even that much like Guild Wars. It's an MMO through and through. People get annoyed and start leaving.
They announce F2P. Their free plan includes most of what makes GW2 special anyway. They charge for something like jump puzzles.
Of all forms of content they can promise, they promise more hearts.
They concoct a form of guild vs guild PVP where both guilds are on rails - you shoot at each other while you're passing each other by. The team with the most hits wins.
Leaving players shake their head in disbelief.

Tor failed for many reasons, but it comes down to, The devs made a game they wanted to make, not the game fans wanted to play.
GW2 tried to make a game people would enjoy playing.
The pvp 1-49 is similar in cocept as WvWvW due to a stat bump, but WvWvW atleast serves a purpose.
And to the guy that said swtor has less structor... Are you kidding me?
