You're right. I shouldn't expect any level of quality from a product when it is sitting on the shelves for consumers to purchase. Geez, what was I thinking.
I've had over a dozen events bug out on me this week. NPC's clipping into walls, stopping halfway through the route, chests not opening for rewards, and an arena gate closing after an event is over, trapping me inside.
I am enjoying the game, but sometimes the bugs can be infuriating. If you honestly believe nothing is wrong with the game, you aren't playing the same game.
HAha well as much as i detest Anet i have to agree part of the blame is on the consumers. The writing was on the wall when they announced a definite release date without even seeing the state fo the game on final test week.
The difference of course is that you buy a car,you get to test drive it,if it fails, you say no thanks. In the gaming world you have to buy first ask later, which imo is flat out wrong.they can claim and use their copyright excuse till they are blue in the face, fact is they are not offering a fair standard to consumers.
Bottom line ,it is still on the consumer, you have the right to complain, but remember you gave them your money.I have made the same mistakes myself, but i don`t do it anymore.I now do tons of homework and watch all the detail to see what kind of product i am buying.I am pretty much a test first pay later consumer now,far too many half finished products coming out on release dates.

GW2 is one of the better polished releases, Wow for example was in worse shape at the US release and lets not talk about EQ....
Yes, there are bugs even if the ones you are talking about is stuff I never heard of before. Broken escort quests and a few weird things like zombies getting stuck in trees is the worse I seen beside the auction house being down the first 10 or so days.
Lol no. GW2 had one of the worst releases on par with diablo 3.
The secret world,Tera and SWTOR had all beter releases.

With the difference I don't have to pay while they're repairing their game. And as much as I've been in a P2P bandwagon, I'm boarding a B2P train along with this game.
What I think they've had right is WvWvW that is wonderfully similar to WAR ORvR but better made and an engine to support big battles.
On the PvE side, I just love that "downgrading" to according level of the mobs. 1st time after LoTRO I'm actually looking forward in exploring the world and having them all mapped (PoIs, Vistas, Hearts and Waypoints).
Maybe I'm cursing this game after 6 months, but so what. I'm sure I've had my fun for the box price.
I've encountered more bugs in game in the last two days than in the prior two weeks. A non-spawn of a wave of undead in a story mission, two DE's in Timberline Falls where the last wave of enemies wouldn't spawn (one tied up a waypoint), the Grawl Cave DE in Wayfarer Foothills (also not spawning enemies), a missing Skill Challenge in Dissun's Mine in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, and also in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, one of the rooms you open with a dwarven key, which has a Veteran Imp inside; after defeating it, people could not get into the room to get to the chest; as if the door was in the way even though it did not appear to be. In the first two weeks I only saw one bug, a missing Skill Challenge in Gendaran Fields. That challenge was absent on the actual but server but available on the overflow.

TOR? Please. Terrible FPS issues and ability lag made that one nearly unplayable for a lot of people. Let's not even talk about Illum, which wasn't just buggy, but broken beyond belief.
TSW's launch was also far from flawless. Its servers worked well - probably because it had underwhelming sales - but it had plenty of bugs. There's a great topic about it on MMORPG, actually:
TERA's launch was a year after its Asian launch, so it wasn't even a real launch.
So yes, GW2's launch isn't perfect. I've seen some broken events and had one broken personal story quest that was fixed a couple of days later. However, a "buggy mess" and "one of the worst"? Hell no.

All MMOs gets a free trial a while after launch, if you cant stand bugs but are in a hurry at the same time, whos fault is that?
People are talking a lot about being consumers but as a consumer you have the responsibility to check up what you buy. You cant just buy a bottle of wine and demand a refund becuse you didnt know you didnt like wine.
But yes, it sucks that MMOs never are ready for release, but GW2 still is in better shape than most. It is 2 weeks after launch and they already fixed up most of the issues, that took Vanguard 2 years and Wow 6 months.

WOW had a bad release...we get it. Really we do, we've heard it every time a new game launch's.
I dont think that should be used by EVERY new game released as a reason that it was more successfull.

GW2 was and still is a buggy mess.
A game is a buggy mess, when it's so bugged you can't play it normaly. I've played for 100 hours since the game launch and appart from occasional bugged DE I've had no bugs that would prevent me from playing... In other words, the game plays normaly, so IDK what exactly you're talking about...

GW2 was and still is a buggy mess.
Not really, I can actually play GW2 with little problems. The servers were down 3 hours the first day, only time I couldnt play. No waiting for hours just to log in.
Yes, I seen some bugs, like lately seems the escort DEs to be messing but 95% of the issues I found at launch have been fixed, and almost every day they patch up making the bugs fewer.
For someone that played VG and AoC this is far from a buggy mess, never even seen a bug that stopped me from playing.
Don't do anything with the economic portion of the game. Reports of lost gold/gems during exchange, lost deposits into bank, and auction house woes. Every zone I hit has at least 2 bugged out quest hubs. Don't bother with the Fire Temple Tombs - even if you do manage to kill the Champion mob that clips into the walls, his chest won't open.
Last night, I was randomly disconnected from the server. Surprise! The log-in server was down again and I couldn't log back in to finish an event I was in. Once I did, I was put back into the Overflow and was given zero credit for my work.
I enjoy the game, but there is a LOT of work that needs to be done. This game needed more time to bake in the oven.
I don't agree with this. I've been playing a ton since release, and I've seen only a couple minor issues, including the AH not working at the beginning, which as we know ANet has resolved.
The only time I've seen a quest related "bug" was when we were doing a skill challenge, and you had to kill 3 enemies. The group started fighting two of them, and killed them, and then they stood there wondering why they had not gotten the skill point yet, and started complaining that it was bugged. As they were running off, I noticed that just behind the skill challenge spot the third enemy was standing there, so I pulled it, we killed it, and we got the skill point.
Aside from that, my wife had a disconnect from the game yesterday once. Overall, it's been an extremely stable release for both of us.
Originally posted by Corehaven This is why I don't buy mmo's at launch anymore. You all pretty much know better as well. Some of you just don't like to admit it. If a launch goes well people say, " Wow...I'm really surprised! The launch went so smooth! This is a very pleasant surprise indeed. " If a launch goes poorly people say, " Man this launch sucks. I hate this. I'm very frustrated. Stupid game. " So we seem so pessimestic and surprised if it goes well, yet we seem so horribly upset and optimistic when a launch goes poorly. You all know that on average, launches suck, and there will be problems for weeks. Some of you intelligent people that are just super excited go into it knowing and accepting the issues. Other intelligent people would rather wait and play it when its more polished after a couple of months. As for the rest of you? No comment.
I kinda take issue with something you said, This game was heralded as something different. It had been Beta'd, Had extensive exposure with BWEs. People were promised "When it's ready" (It wasn't) It had begun to look like the days of Bad MMO launches were over with a string of smooth launches over teh last few years (At least launches that had much fewer problems than had been expected previously) And ANet was expected to come in and redefine everything. (Then didn't)
You have a very valid point encouraging people to hold off on purchasing MMOs at release, But I have to ask, Based on GW2's Revenue model, What advantage is there really to that philosophy when it comes to this game? Since there are no Sub fees to worry about not losing out on days paid for, what reason is there to not buy it at release if you know you are going to buy it anyway?
SO while you didn't come out and say it, you implied by process of elimination that anyone who bought the game and was heavily impacted, And because they expected what they were told and believed "This time it would be different" and expressed themselves when it wasn't, they are not intelligent.
Yes, sometimes the difference between smart and stupid is knowing when to keep your mouth shut, But I don't see this as one of those times.
TP/gam store isn't particularly buggy, it's just super laggy- I bought some items at one point and they didn't appear until 2 days later, and then I bought some more items and they appeared immediately.

Originally posted by Lord.BachusPeople comparing the game to AoC release really have no clue... The game had no content at all after level 20.
Thats is a blatant lie. To have no content after tortage, would mean that tortage encompassed all of AoC.To be fair AoC had more end game content at launch that GW2 currently has. As buggy as it was, it was still more than the non-existant end game of GW2. It was also way more challenging than GW2.
Now I know you are trolling lol. AoC challenging? LOL. AoC was a broken mess at launch. Content was ok, but gear grind tread mills is stale and needs to be changed.
Originally posted by Terminus-Est Not being able to turn with the right mouse button seems like a rather major bug to me. I thought it would have been dealt with after 2 weeks.
You probably changed a setting dude. Because thats the only way I play lol
Gear grind exists in GW2 too only difference is that it is not tied to dungeons. MMOS survive on principle of grind and so does GW2. They just removed tiers of dungeons and kept tiers of armor.
I'm only a level 35, and had 2 bugged DE's. One event would not even start, the other one, the kill meter went down half way and stopped. After everyone tried to finish it for over a half hour people eventually gave up. About an hour later and being in a totally different zone all of a sudden I got credit for it
NONE OF THIS IS GAME BREAKING, however I could understand being mad at instant frustration when your trying to do something big.
Yesterday, I could not wait to get home to run Catacombs story mode for the first time. Only to find out from everyone that getting in was heavily bugged.
- If you try going in to test it and come out, you will not get back in unless you zone out of the area and come back to the map.
- If you get a group, some may not get in for reasons above.
- If your group does get in everyone will be all alone.
Last night a big crowed of ppl trying to get in. My guild told me on vent that this was a problem all along.
Soooo, with all this I could understand the OP's instant frustration....Is the game still good ?... Yes. But things could get you mad at times.

Now THAT made me laugh. Maybe you should learn to set your game right, because turning with right mouse button is the only way I've ever turned in this game...

If you think about the Diablo 3 release, where people could play for the first 2 weeks during error 37, I think GW2 had a flawless launch.
I've been able to play every single day so far.
Only bugs I've encountered is some Dynamic Events at lower level - I just walk by and continue to gain xp elsewhere.
Please just stop before you look even more stupid.
And do please look up games that were a "buggy mess" before posting again.
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
I played Diablo from day one even if error 37 was present and I play GW2 even if loggin error 42 is showing regularly.
I dont play Diablo because the game is boring and I still play GW2 because I like the game overall.
