Dailies are a completely uninspired way to limit how quickly content or goals can be completed by players.
I suspect the reason that development studios ran with the idea was probably because of the bad forum press from folks that would burn through content at lightspeed and then complain vociferously of boredom. Rather than thinking creatively on how to fix the real problem, they decided it was the fault of the players (as opposed to a fundamental flaw with the content) and implemented this method of control instead.
I sometimes do daily quests to gain rewards & experience & as well as gaining level ups. But no, I simply don't do these anymore because it's time-consuming
If there is something to be gained from them, I'll do them, they really don't bother me too much. Like right now, in Rift we have the Autumn World Event that just kicked off with a whole new set of dailys. I did a few rounds of them, but now, I'm just doing the ones that contribute to one of the mounts.

i dont do dailies either, unless leveling -- they are not fun
