ehhh i didnt like WoW all that much anyways. im not into the cartoonish graphic style and all that wasted time of walking to almost everwhere you had to go.
guild wars was just a more realistic game.... yea yea i know, they make fireballs fall out the sky, but overall guild wars realism is what draws me to it.
oh yea, and the no monthly fee was a huge + compaired to WoW
Originally posted by azn1337gamer Guild wars is good but WoW is so much better. WoW has stunning graphics with awesome gameplay. Also it is a monthly fee game which=GOOD GAMES!
How can you judge like that, I think Guild Wars has better graphics...
i'm playing RYL:POTE, i downloaded the free trial (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/256190.asp)it is definitely better than either Guild Wars or WoW . The 3D weather/environment is better than all the rest, its so realistic... and no one can beat the fast level up that you will get from RYL, not to mention the numerous quests a player would have to go to. I also like the idea of your role not being defined at the start of the game, your role unfolds as you get better and acquires skills. This one is more inteactive and exciting!
Originally posted by Jorev Guild wars is not an MMOG. You want to play with friends only and never meet anyone then GW is for you.
how do you figure it's not a mmog? what cause its not p2p? or is it because the developers left Blizzard to start there own company and is actually beating them to death with gameplay and graphics? how you can say it isn't a mmog is beyond my comprehension.
I tried guild wars.. didn't like it. Others will love it.
Some of the technical aspects of guild wars i truly loved. (the online downloads in the back ground) rapid patching.. rapid updates. Technically guildwars is awesome, but for general gameplay I personally found it lacking.

Um Do multiple people (over 100 at a time) play it? *yes* Do some players roleplay? *yes* Is it online? *yes*
Therefore it is, de-facto, an MMORPG
Get over this silly arguement. Guild Wars *IS* an MMORPG. Graphics has NOTHING to do with whether a game is an MMORPG, the fact that it's MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER (yes) is ONLINE (yes) and is an RPG (yes) is what makes it an MMORPG.
I really get sick of people who don't understand the terminology making blanket statements like this.

arena.net say it is not a MMORPG, why argue with the makers. It doesnt bother me what its called, people make far too big an issue out of it. Saying 'its not a MMORPG' is not an insult, it just illustrates that GW is not an online game of the UO, EQ, Eve style.
The way i like to describe it is (slightly differently from arena.net) as a Cooperative Online RPG - becuase in GW you have complete control over who you want to play the game with (not necessarily against) - in the instanced missions only people you want to play with are involved (no spawn camping, non-consentual pvp, loot stealing) . Kinda like a traditional third person RPG (say zelda, NWN, diablo) played online with your mates but with consentual PvP included as well.

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
Publisher NCsoft calls Guild Wars a CORPG (Competitive Online Role Playing Game). It's right on their website. I think this is really the best description for the game, because it is a genre of it's own. No matter how much it may look like another game, whether MMO or strict PvP, Guild Wars is it's own type of multiplayer experience.

Doesn't really matter one way or another. But the Definition of MMORPG is Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game
Whether they call it one or not it IS an MMORPG. They can call it a CORPG and still be correct. But that doesn't make it stop being an MMO
Not like I really care. But the definition of MMORPG fits Guild Wars whether you want to call it one or not.

Wow has cartoonish graphics. GW has no persistant world. I would be more likely to put more time into the game with the persistant world, but with no monthly fee, if I got GW I guess I would have it forever (or until the shut down the servers). I like the GW graphics, but neither of these games look like the one for me.
I vote none of the above. Not that either is a bad game, they just aren't my style of game.
Guildwars is MMO it just similar to diablo all the hunting grounds are instanced just made diffrent. And between GW and wow i pick both cause one is free the other isnt so no big loss.
We will see what the leet kiddies who think guild wars is gonna be a free ride are saying after the first year is over, and 4 50 dollar expansions, that they cant access one tiny KB of unless they paid for them have hit the store shelves.
Nothing is free, but then again if guildwars is a success and remains free and cheap, then the leet kiddies wont be on the games the rest of us play. So heres for GO GO GO Guild Wars.

lmao- get your facts, kiddy. First of all, there arent going to be 4 expansion there is going to be 2-3. Second, they arent going to be 50 dollars each they are going to be 20-30. Three, they arent going to give you a advandage in PvP and arent needed if you dont want them. Fourth, Guild Wars is going to be a secondary game for most, so most ppl playing GW will be playing other mmorpgs. The community of guild wars really is no worse then a WoW anyway. Fifth, Guild Wars has no monthly fee not because alot of expansions, but because the guild wars servers dont host everything. Only launching cities, not the combat areas.
Why do people always talk about the expansion packs? Every game releases expansion packs. In an interview with Gamespy the head guy at Arenanet said that the first expansion won't be out untill 2006 so its hardly like 4 in a year. They will also be priced at normal expasion prices and not full game prices, in Britain that is £20.
I wish people would stop talking crap about not being economicly viable without a monthly fee. Its very simple, the fact that tehre is no monthly fee will mean that way more people will buy the game than what would have if there was a fee, so right away its probably 3 or 4 times more base units sold. An average mmorpg like anarchy online, horizons or eve will get at most 60k subscribers, guild wars will sell over a million copies.

gw well stream new stuff to u all the time adding more content and u dont half to buy any of the exspanshin and with 15 a month for wow after 6-9 months for a new GW exspanshin gw well still be cheaper and better

In fact, their servers host everything. They just designed it to be very efficient (and totally global).

I may have to give this sucker a try... if there's a free trial.

Guild Wars all the way!!!
I have tested and like it regardless of whether it is a CORPG or MMORPG!
The Best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.
I've gotta go with Guild Wars. its got so many great things about it. it seems like such an awsome game
Peace out!!!
