Personally I like having worlds setup similar to World of Warcraft, Everquest, etc. I like traveling from city to city to fight. While Guild Wars seemed interesting at first and no monthly fee is a HUGE plus, after playing it a few times during the events they've heald, I'm not really that interested in it anymore. Maybe it's because the groups I was in, moved so fast that I never really had a chance to take in the world (people were rushing to finish quest) or was due to how limited and empty the world felt due to the nature of the events (being limited over weekends and unfinished), something just didn't click with me.
So I'd have to say I like WoW and online games closer to that setup then Guild Wars.
makes me laugh this discussion, I quit SWG after my rehabilitiation, I played COH in an atttempt to find this fun factor I was informed the game had, yes I gave this one up for lent, I played the 10 day trial my mate got with his purchase and I have played one beta weekend, Guildwars.
Guildwars is for people who enjoyed Diablo 2, and dont like leet nooblets interupting their missions, when you want to socialise and/or expand you group to incorporate more skills you can enter a town, instantly, no problem, just zip out at will, and for a person with a job and a wife and kids, I like this idea, I can play the game for an hour and feel like I played a game.
WoW, time will tell, I can see why some would play it, just no reason why I would for the same reason I could not play COH any longer, I have crap game burn out, after playing three games with crap content in a row I choose not too any longer.
Long Live GuildWars, and if the content deminishes another game of a simular build
Well as a wuote says somewhere on this site. WoW good graphics alright in most respects but bland. Nothing new and full of some of the most antiscoial people on earth.
Anyone who says guild wars isnt a MMORPG probably hasnt thought about the term. its a Massive multiplayer online game thus its a MMO and you can if it takes your fancy roll play in it thus its a MMORPG. Plus its free .
Guildwars all throughout.. Due to my frustration with WoW's monthly fees and I feel like im playing Warcraft3.. I even created my local private server to get all the best things off the game... but it did not satisfy me... Bah i'd say to myself... But with GW mahn.. I can play this game all year long =] anyway, WoW enthusiasts would say WoW is good, GW enthusists would say GW is good.. subjective as it is... but if you plan on trying out something new(with a good graphics-who said GW has inconsistent graphics?) try GW... if you got the extra money for majority of gamerz go for WoW..
Guild Wars for teh win! I will now quote myself for the 3rd time with my description of the game to back up my answer.
Guild Wars is the best CORPG (competitive online RPG) out IMO. This game isn't for everyone so I'll give you a run down of what it is like before you make any hasty decisions.
Unlike WoW where you play for a week and there is nothing left to do or EQ2 which has nothing fun at all, GW has many quests and they are all rewarding and fun. The lvl 20 cap doesn't mean END GAME. It is where the game actually starts and where 90% of the quests are. Also the hunting requires strategy instead of endless grinding of the same thing unlike L2. PvE, GW takes the cake.
People who like to grieve and jump other players will not like this game. All PvE situations are done on the players own map where only you and your party plays. This way there is no KS and no PKing. Most people like this however, aside from the grievers, some people prefer to be able to interact with more people than just your party in PvE missions.
PvP in GW is the best hands down and in many cases makes up to the people who like to interact more in PvE. There are three types of PvP. Arena is where you are randomly put into groups and the two groups go against each other. Tournament is where you can select team your on for a tournament style of play. Then there are the actual Guild Wars. You and your guild form parties and take on other rival guilds to increase your rank. Also all PvP is more strategy than grinding for weapons which is what really makes it the best.
Also there are many expansions to the game to come. All of which will add even more content to lvl 20 players and new land to explore as well. You have to buy each expansion but not having it doesn't make the game unplayable. Some people say that because of no monthly fees it won't work out this way. But really I believe it will do just fine. Think about it this way. You pay $10 a month to play a game and get a free expansion every three months. Isn't that the same has having no monthy fee but getting a $30 expansion every 3 months? That being said I believe the expansions will do just fine in both quantity and content.
