I can't really give it one score. It is like putting one foot in a bucket of ice water and one foot in boiling water and expecting to be nice and warm over all.
The game overall is at least 9.5
The combat, especially as experienced in dungeons is a 6 for me. I don't like the style of the combat and it is really the only thing that brings the game down for me. The problem is that combat really is the foundation of a game. You do combat more than any other activity. It isn't just one feature among many if it annoys you. it is just too noticable.
I voted 9... for a themepark, its great, and although I am a sandboxer at heart, I cast my vote on the game based on what it is instead of what my ideal game would be. Bottom line, I am enjoying it, and will be until the new DF releases (and maybe soon after if that blows)
Imo 9 is a fair assesment for me... Heck, it delivers. For me a 10 would be perfection but I would do some things a bit differently here and there... If they a) develop their DE's a bit more to their full potential b) increase WvW player count and maybe add some kind of mounts there (or a way to move a bit faster while not in combat) and c) moar SPvP maps! I'd give it a 10.
I gave it a 6, it's a pretty good game and I'll play it on and off, but it just doesn't have a hook that makes you want to play.
Never getting new buttons to press was and still is my biggest complaint. I have a hard time really being interested in leveling if I'm going to have the same abilities pretty much the entire time and never really feeling any stronger. One of the staples of the RPG genre is growing in strength as you play through a game, whether that's in relation to enemies or in terms of greater and greater more spectacular abilities.
I know it's because "there is no end game" but if that were true, I don't see why they didn't just not have levels at all and drop us in the world and said, - here, have fun. At least then I can go to any region and spend my time looking for fun things to do.
So, it's a fairly good game, but they limited the number of skills available at any given time and it makes me feel like there isn't much I can do in any given encounter. Which is probably why every fight feels basically the same.
I also miss the trinity, I knew I would, but having been a gamer since before the trinity - I see it more as a devolution of combat than an evolution away from the trinity.
i am a huge fanboy of this game and i have almost 300 hours logged but i only gave it an 8, because although it is immensely fun it does have its fair share of bugs and there is always room for improvement.
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)

you get access to more traits and elite skills that can complete change your builds as you level up :P. also if you actually made use of weapon switching (which is a must in any of the difficult content of this game) or F1-F4 skills you wouldnt be complaining.

I liked kuppa's response to bcbully lol.... for me I'd say 7 or 8... objectively its above average. With bugs snd locked events fixed it would be like an 8.5
Originally posted by nsignific I voted 7, because even though I dislike it personally and won't play it anymore, I acknowledge that it's a well made game and a valuable addition to the genre.
9 - still the best MMORPG release these last 7 years, in my opinion of course.
And people who gave it 1 - worst experience ever - can only be trolling. That's no lack of respect of other people's opinion, that's fact. Just for the work made on the game and the scale of the game, you can't give it less than 5 without trolling. Because if you give GW2 less than 5, what the hell do you give to real failures like Dark and Light or similar crap? -10?

Very good example of an honest and fair vote. I wish everybody would have the maturity of nsignific.

I gave it a 9. No game is perfect, and GW2 has/has had some issues. To me most of those issues are easy to overlook because the game is so fun, but they are there. Having said that, this is the most fun I've ever had playing any video game ever so I think it deserves a very high mark.
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???
sPvP: 10 - Didn't expect them to mess this one up, but a few more player ladders and functions would be nice
PvE: 9 - Fun. Different. Immersive. Bugged events and dungeon balancing can be improved.
WvW: 7 - Issues range from faulty siege weapon damage, to exploits, to awful ques. The most work needed is needed here.
Overall I say a 9. It may eventually reach 10, but even then there will always be room to improve. Since there is no sub, I don't mind as much waiting for bug fixes and content updates.....cuz ya know, I have a life outside gaming.

9 for me still although numbers are sort of meaningless if you don't have something to compare it to so here's a couple reference numbers
TSW 7.5
TERA 6
SWTOR 5
RIFT 8
WOW(upto WotLK) 8

It isn't perfect, I am not a big fan of the group PvE content and a few smaller things tbh, but it remains the best MMO I have played since I stopped EQ all those years back.
I can see it easily lasting me up 'till FFXIV relaunches, and even then it will stay installed for WvW and expacks.
1100+ achievment points, L80/ L40/ L20 characters, and still only on 74% map completion, with over half the jumping areas to be done, most of the explorables to run, story badges to get, WvW, sPvP... plenty of game left in this title for me yet

I kind of agree with him. Unless the person voting 1 has only ever played 2 mmorpgs they can't honestly give it a 1. FFXIV would have to be the worst mmorpg I have ever played and I wouldn't even give that a 1.

I don't care about your opinion about me, if what I post is getting old, the forum has a "block" feature - which I'm going to use as soon as I finished this post.
I repeat my question though - if you give less than 5 to GW2, what the hell would you give to real failures of the genre, like e.g. Dark and Light?
Unbiased reviewers are able to see the qualities of a product even if they dislike it overall. And yes, just the work put into GW2, the quality of its art (music and graphics), definitely already deserve 5 or more. You gave it 5 btw, fair enough, I don't agree but at least you didn't bash the game into the ground. I stand by my opinion, people giving less than 5 (5=average) are trolling, and their opinion is not worth paying attention to.
As comparison for me by the way (for the most significant MMOs I've played, I'm passing on the less significant ones)... every game rated at release just like GW2, and not in its actual state:
UO: 9/10
AC1: 9/10
DAoC: 5/10
AO: 6/10
EQ2: 6/10
WoW: 8.5/10
LOTRO: 7.5/10
GW2: 9/10
The only games I would gives less than 5 are total failures like Dark and Light.

I think that everyone rating the top AAA MMO's a 5 or less, from GW2 to SWTOR to WoW to Rift to Aion to TSW to TERA etc, have a rating that can make others sceptical about it.
However, it's about rating that someone personally'd give those games and as such, it's personal and subjective. A rating doesn't have to be objective, it's only someone's own reflection upon a game, how the experience was for them.
What you often see people do is use 1/2 and 9/10 as rating in the way other people use the like/dislike button: a like is an automatic 9 or 10 in rating, and a dislike an automatic 1 or 2.

I voted a 10 because it´s "outstanding and can't wait to play it some more"
Sure there is room for improvement...and there will be! This MMO is only 1 month old...
GW2 is exactly the game i was waiting for so many years!

I see what you did there
I gave it a 5.
As a game, I'd give it an 8.5.
As an MMORPG, I'd give it a 2-3.
So since you asked for experience, I rounded the 2 numbers.
