So here we go.  GW2 has been out a couple of months now.  I personally don't think it shattered as many records as ANET hoped.  So I am going to ask the question everyone else is afraid to ask.

    if Anet makes another mmo i dont think it will be the guild wars ip.  at least not the next one they make.

    GW2 came out ~7 years after GW1. I don't see why GW3 wouldn't be at least on the table for 2019 or 2020.

    I'm having more fun in GW2 than any mmo in the last two years. I went back to play the Rohan expac and my first quest was "kill ten of those" and I felt like I was doing a job. GW2 is my game of choice for now.

    Stepwise evolution, it's better integrated/masked. Not fundamentally that different, but the presentation goes a long way towards making the game feel less of a chore during the activities.

     

    Doesn't stop people from taking a step back and noticing it's the same thing.

     

    as for the OP I'd say it'd hit somehere towards the 5+ year range. It used to be stated MMOs take on average about five years to go through their dev cycle. Even if they already started their game and moved a dev team over to it immediately after release of GW2, they are going to have to go through the same steps the took in their previous games. Notably revamping their engine, adding new elements that have developed across the industry, and rebuilding it to cater to a new generation of hardware. Beyond that is the way the game itself will play and the kind of game it will be overall.

     

    Point being, five or so years until we're actually talking about a new guild wars title.

    Don't know how it's relevant to the topic but...

    It's never a good idea to play another MMO while you enjoy another.

    Right know I could never enjoy a game without mounts after playingg Riders of Rohan, which have been the most fun Ive had in 5 years in a MMO. 

    But I guess filling a bar is so different from a kill 1+ quest..

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

    Also I voted never, they've already created a "virtual paradigm shift" with GW2 so it should be the only game Anet will ever need to support them due to it's unsurpassable success.

    Only...well this might be crazy but I swear on my uncles grave it's not just only GW2 fans. Though let's keep playing the pretend game on the forums. Oh and forgot to mention I find that term annoying its said a lot, I feel when people want to say that they can at the very least change it up or something.

    Not many "3" MMOs.  AC3 as a kickstarter maybe?

    I responded with "Within 3 years+" as I believe it will be announced in about 8-10 years.

    Looking forward to EQL and EQN.

    Well, EQNext is pretty much EQ3.

     

    Yeah, not many. Perhaps there just hasn't been enough time to judge that one yet.

    It's a ways off. They've barely began on GW2. Compaired to the improvements from 1 to 2, 3 would probably be a beast game though.

    You seem to hate on GW 2. Ok, hate it, why to make topics about it and write in so many of em? You don't like that game, get it in your signature, we get it. Move on maybe? Or you are payed for it? ;)

    I personally doubt Arenanet will make a GW3. Not only that but it's way too soon to tell anyway. If Arenanet makes another MMO, which they likely will, It will be of a different IP. I think they can take a page from blizzards book and see that sticking to the same IP for nearly 2 decades can get stale once you reach the third installment. Now there are some games who stay fresh and exciting by the time you reach the third chapter (after several spin-off/mini games ofcourse): God of War, Prince of Persia, Assassins Creed [sorta], Halo [i mean come on their coming out with a 4th game~], etc etc.
