Torchlight 2. Was close with borderlands 2 but I just couldn't help but find delight in playing Diablo 4 (3 being Torchlight 1).
I can say one of those games was the worst game of the year for me. Not to say its god aweful, but bad enough that I gave it a chance and it failed miserably for me.
Still early yet but so far Far Cry 3 is looking to be my GOTY, only a couple of hours in and already had more fun than anything else that's released in 2012.
Borderlands 2 for me, over 200hours played with multiple play through's and it is just....Fun. Although admittedly i have played almost all those games and they were all good in thier own way, this game i have finished multiple times an still enjoy it.

For me Planetside 2 hands down!
A game that encourges team work on a epic scale , plus a new AAA Title completely free, I mean what more can one ask for? TSW for me is a close second, fantastic game however it lacked on the combat side of things.
I voted GW2 even though I'm not an active player. It got my vote just because of the quest/event system combo. I never had more fun doing quests in any previous MMOs I've played. Limited amount of skills that change with different weapons was a nice change to rows and rows of skills that other MMOs have. They did many things correctly and many things incorrectly, but overall, the game is the best one this year imo.
From single-player games I would choose Borderlands 2 or Crusader Kings 2 as those two are the only ones I come back to from time to time.
Top 5 Farcry 3 - skyrim as a fps, awesome Planetside 2 - after so many years a real mmo not a glorified lobby game. Dishonoured - fantastic ip, return of stealth gameplay Torchlight 2 - the true diablo 3, built for fun, not to prop up a rmah Xcom - return of a classic.
Honourable mentions gw2, ftl, tsw, towns, orcs must die 2.
MMORPG: GW2, way ahead of any contender. No MMO comes even remotely close in these last years, the last one noteworthy was LOTRO in 2007 for me.
Offline: Skyrim. Yeah I know it's a Nov. 11, 2011 release, but you can't really judge a game of that scope in that short time. There's no other game in 2012 coming even close to Skyrim anyway in that category. Assassin's Creed 3 (for PC) may be a contender if I find the time to try it before the end of the year.

MMORPG: Not sure on this one. The year isn't over yet, but if I was forced to pick one, I'd say TSW. I think the game brought a new refreshing atmosphere in a genre over saturated with existing IPs and elves. It had its faults, but it did some really cool things.
COOP Game of the Year: Tie between GW2 and Diablo 3. Both were a lot of fun for their respective short terms. GW2 blurred the lines between COOP and MMO, while Diablo 3 retains a steady playerbase even now. I had great fun in both. Both presented top notch presentation. Both very overhyped.
F2P Revival: SWTOR. I think we have already seen an influx of players coming back to the game. Will the stay? Too soon to tell, but this vote needs to be in before the year. Also, there were'nt many other contenders in this category.

I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out.
Logic every gamers worst enemy.
I'd vote for DayZ but since it's a mod it probably doesn't count.
I really enjoyed the Walking Dead from telltale games and Counter Strike: GO
