Anything besides a subscription based $15 a month would surprise me.
People will impulse by this game and atleast subscribe for a couple months out of hype. That is a huge win if $500,000 donate 30-45 dollars atleast to Zenimax.
The thing is you can't let the game get to such utter garbage like SWTOR that no one actually cares when it turns free to play. But if the game isnt living up to the hype, then change it to free to play BEFORE its at world-wide hated.
I also dont mind League's system. I dislike systems where it's free to play but really you need to pay to win. I've never spent a dime on League and don't feel like it's limited my experience at all, as I'm a Gold level ranked player who can get better.
Subscription with the one qualifier that the game have a suitably fast pace of quality additions, fixes and mini-expansions with first rate customer support both in and out of game.
People will generally pay if they feel they are getting quality for their money - and a good profit/re-investment balance from a subscription revenue stream can really make a game fizz along nicely and helps population retention if the game is good enough.
If you think that Zenimax has not decided on a pay model... you are partialy right!
It was probably the first thing that made them make an MMO (cash-in on the IP with a P2P model because of WoW)
This game has been on the works FAR longer that mentioned, which is already 6 years. However, the fate of recently released MMOs (especially SWTOR) and the speed at which the market changed probably made them think again, since their business plan was based on the era when a few subscription games ruled the market.
Now they are probaly on the second tier of compromise-making, i.e. how to release the game in a new market while trying to appease the investors that expected profits based on the older models.
(first tier of compromising was alla bout updating as much of the game as possible, like graphics, due to long development cycle that left them behind compared to competitors)

Waiting On: Nothing. Mmorpg's are dead.
I would play TESO if it is only B2P.
There are more games to play beside TESO like Archeage, Wildstar, Blade & Soul and Black Desert.
Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language
I can only see it being P2P.
To say any different would be delusion. It's budget and model pretty much dictated what it would be.
Might go F2P if things go south and it's future looks dicey but that would be far after release.
And B&S, ArcheAge are P2P in Korea. And Wildstar might also be P2P, we don't know yet.
TESO will do better financially with 500k players playing subs than 3 million players who buy the box.

Anything with no cash shop.
I rather P2P, like WoW, but B2P would be a good option too.
