Yeah, I want Titan to be a new Sci Fi IP that puts the Starcraft universe to shame.
You know, like Bungie is trying to do with Destiny.
Activision and Bungie doing Destiny... maybe Activision should just shift all of Titan to Destiny and make "the" ONE Sci-Fi MMO to Rule Them All.
Like some crazy massive hybrid of SWG, EvE, Defiance, Halo, Mass Effect, and Wing Commander.
A Sci-Fi nut can dream...
Time travel on Earth stuff? Probably a pass for me...
I saw this post when it first came up, wrote a few paragraphs in disagreement, but then realized it was just a troll attempt (I knew beforehand but meh) since the only words the OP put that weren't copy pasted from another source were in the title that also displayed "lol".
Aside from all of that having Earth in a Blizzard game is not unheard of. Earth exists in Starcraft, for example. But that's besides the point: neither time travel nor history is a particularly new topic for a game to have.
History + Earth + Time Travel + Fiction + Magic / Guns = Yes please. If there is an expansion that adds a space age and space travel / going to different fictional worlds, then all the better.
Would like to see a kingdom one day, then a modern town or a futuristic city the next. Maybe a Wild West setting or a Greek / Roman one. The possibilities with expansions and patches might be interesting.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.
Maybe it is due to my limited imagination, but how would a sandbox game become e-sport? Are there any?
How would you create an e-sport in an open world? It indicates that there will be instances / zones, to me.
You could always do PvP "arenas" that are like actual arenas ala Thunderdome, Gladatorial style etc. and have the open world-sandbox aspect be that these arenas actually exist on the map and you can attend matches in the stands as a spectator.
Real time events, important tournament matches played in the "public" view - just run your character to the stadium, sit down and watch while socializing.
Sure, the actual arena floor itself would have to be "phased" or instanced, as e-sport requires on-demand access to matches.
But the really important ones could be "televised" in that they are viewable in game in the game world.
Didn't read most of the thread, but I was looking into titan rumours for a while now and as the newest rumour roundup came up my thoughts were "Looks like TSW with time travel instead of portals in Agartha".

Something like that.
Good point.
Thanks for answer.
Would you have any idea regarding the progression aspect of the game in connection to it being an e-sport?
As I mentioned the game would require level playing field (or at least that is my take on e-sport). Would you think the progression will be highly limited? Would the players be put on equal stat / gear level in these "arenas"? Do you think I am completely off with this one?
Yeah, I think for an e-sport to really "work" is if you have it character progression free.
Blizzard has done this already with Arena tournaments in WoW - everyone gets the best gear available for the Tournies.
I for one am not too keen on the idea of mixing e-sports and MMO - I think the two are diametrically opposed.
Though I also think PvP really has no place in MMOs due to the inherent RPG progression mechanics - but I know that's a minority opinion.
I don't want to pan it, but I am not huge fan of esport in my mmo, I find fps and moba type games to be doing quite a good job of this already, and worry that the rest of it may suffer (from my view point), from that focus.
I don't know about being a TSW clone, but I did love a lot of the stories/quests in TSW, and this is from someone that would rather grind xp and wore their spacebar out in TOR...So if they can emulate that part, I am all for it.
They will keep supporting WoW forever, and they will improve the engine eventually. The next game won't be WoW 2.
The next game will have a fantasy background with well-known races like elves and dwarves. Maybe, they will try to change some names.
Titan's graphics won't be the best by when they release, but they will be very customizable and astonishing.
It will be a pay-to-play game.
It will have a more in-depth background, best art, music with choruses to make it epic, and more mature content, but they will keep that eastern-meets-western feeling in it. They know eastern players are very important to them.
It will support more players doing everything: battlegrounds, dungeons, raids...
It will have a macroserver.
It won't have tab combat.
Open-world pvp areas will be present.
They may add some Arthurian, Celtic or Scandinavian touch to it, but it will be essentially a fantasy world.

ya know i would ike a well done sci fi game, i havent really seen one of those yet ( smacks TOR away with a bat) i am kinda burned out on the whole fantasy thing have been foreever, i want a MMO with Mechs in it dammit, and space battle, and power armor and that kinda shit and one thats actully half decent .
or you know another good superhere MMO one that dousnt look like a cartoon but a realalistic art style.
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
Defiance is pretty sweet. Planetside 2 too, and it has tanks, airships, big armor soldiers like mechs. And PS2 is free. Though, they aren't typical mmo, but shooters.
I understand you. They always create mmo based on fantasy, because it's what most people like. I'd love to play something like a real Star Trek mmo, not like the one that Cryptic released. Or a Cyberpunk, or a Shadowrun like a WoW. It could be pretty sweet.
It's based on Earth's history, but also includes a high amount of fiction. It will have a "deep history", that we stole from Warhammer and Warhammer 40k.
Fixed!
Just having a laugh, don't take it too serious.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
As the graphics, why some of you think it will look like WoW is beyond me, no other blizzard games look like WoW, they're refering to the idea that you dont need to run the latest hardward to get a game that looks good, EQ2, Vanguard and few others failed to take off cus people just could not run the damn game.
I hope so because I'm not running out to buy a Windows computer or Bootcamp my Mac just to play a game. I won't do it with any other game and Titan will be no exception. One of the things Blizzard does well is build great Mac clients and it they do that with Titan, I'll check it out. If not, I won't give it a second look.
I hope that the time traveling is more than just a way to tell a story, that its more of a gameplay mechanic in small ways and big ways. Like small ways would be like using it for interaction with some sort of device like in the game SIngularity where you could age objects to old to new or viceversa and it changes the environment like using it on a old broken staircase and turning it back into new so u could go up the stairs. And in big ways you could go back in time and change things in the future or going to the future to get something that could help you in combat or story in the present/past.
Originally posted by Leiloni I lost interest at "tab target" and "Blizzard style graphics". Lolno.
Everything you hear are just rumors right now...nothing has been confirmed especially considering they havent even given the actual name of the game yet.

lol. I know you're just having a laugh, but that doesn't make it any less true. Blizzard makes good games, but they're absolutely shamless.

No. It actually starts being interesting right there. It means PvP will be a major focus of the game, and not an added afterthought.

Problem is, when people say "WoW clone" they're generally talking about mechanics, not setting.
Yes, the Caverns of Time raid/instances.
Dunno if any of them are relevant this expac (haven't played WoW in quite a while), but back in the day they were some of the funnest around.

And how is sci-fi gun based mechanics the same as fantasy magic/melee mechanics?
i dont use the phrase wow-clone because I recognize that every game is different
but when i hear the phrase, WoW clone,
I equate it w a quest hub , heavy instanced, themepark
(i recognize wow is open world but 100% of its dungeons are instanced)
