Ok i know the faction lock and other aspects of how the world and maps work in TESO are a contraversey, but lets set all that aside for this thread please.
what i want to hear about is what people think about the rest of the game
the classes
the crafting
the combat mechanics,
the quest layouts.
stuff i missed.
i know some of this is still behind NDA but lets talk about these aspects of the game that we can guess from vids or have learned from announcements.
Comments
Hopefully the whiners will get tired and that will happen here eventually.
In the meantime, if you want details, you might want to check-out the development FAQ and Game Info sections at http://tamrielfoundry.com/

i have read through it just more intrested in what people think with the info we have so far.
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to

I actually don't mind the faction lock, if anything it will encourage people to play the other factions assuming you can have characters from more than one faction at a time, which i would think you can if there will only be 1 megaserver. The faction lock in a way could help with population issues that can come up between the factions, now it wouldn't fix the problem but a combination of the fact that people will want to play another race that isnt within their intial faction and xp or other bonuses given to a lesser populated faction will help with population balance.
As for other aspects of the game I really cant comment on them I havent been following the game closely at all. Really i havent been following anything specifically, been looking at the surface of a lot of potential games i would be interested in, but wont let myself get sucked in and overhyped, just to be disappointed like many times in the past.
Faction lock complainers are those who fall into the entitlement mindset. They often ask why as if that is really a point. They have trained themselves to ask WHY often.

i can undertand this statement, since i try to keep from getting hyped to. but i also like to find what info i can and what other peope think of system withen games that are comeing out.

Welcome to the Y Generation of gamers lol
That could be flipped as well you know. Those who are stuck with the mindset that the RVRVR must not be jeapordized at all costs might come across as equally entitled.

the classes
Looks they are going with 4, they will be mirrored throughout all the factions. There will be lots of different tree's to fine tune your character, how many will be viable is still not known but I'm sure there will be 1 or 2 of each class that everyone will focus on even with all the other options they will have.
the crafting
Not much to talk about yet, only vague information has been spoken about it.
the combat mechanics
Looks like it will be like Skyrim, with a soft lock where you need to reticle over your target to hit it, whatever your reticle is over is what you will hit. You can hit things that are behind other players and mobs with this soft lock system as long as your reticle is over the target.
the quest layouts
Sounds like it will be the most interesting thing in the game so far to me, since the PvP sounds like its going to be GW2ish. I like how there will be choices with different out comes, will help with replayablity. The phases do not bother me at all, its a single player story line so not a big deal. Like all PvE it will come to end though, so a few runs through with a different race from each faction and I think the game will be done.
Still nothing really new released about the game, been following it since it was announced. Had high hopes for the PvP aspect of it but they are starting to cave under pressure and making it more like a feature rather than a focal point of the game since the out cry from the ES fans wanting a more PvE focused game. I wouldnt doubt by the time the game launches for it to just be the same as GW2 which imo was a poor attempt at RvR. But will atleast have a couple months of fun if they story is interesting and the game isnt too easy.
ok ya know what nevermind, no one else post here let it die, im sorry i tried to have a thread that wwasnt about the faction lock.
that seems to be all anyone carea about in this game, so im done trying, if no one wants to actully talk about other aspect of this game i give up.

Not at all Squeak. you just started your thread with a "lets not talk about..." and that's not the way to "not" talk about anything.
to asnwer your questions:
the classes
Though there are several premade classes you can really create any type of class you want. And I do believe you can have access to most skills but not all skills. The game is more mmo than say morrowind or skyrim in this regard.
the crafting
The only thing we know is that you can experiment to create things. Also, some of the best gear will be made with crafting.
the combat mechanics,
I found them to be similiar to say skyrim but not the same sense of weight that Oblvion or Skyrim had. That's a wait and see as this could change. Sometimes you seemed to slide around. some of the mobs seem dumb and some seem smart.
the quest layouts.
You basically find them as you explore. talking to an npc is a mix between Oblvion and Skyrim.
stuff i missed.
There are books you can find and you can steal things with the usual crime alarms.

Here is the why to that. When making a MMO you need to pick a model. Its what the game is designed from ground up. At this point ripping appart the core model to try and fit in random ideas is like trying to remove the 1st floor of a house once its built and make the 2nd floor the 1st floor. Sure it can be done but what do you have after wards?
If they wanted the greatest sandbox MMO of all time, they they should have picked a MMO that had done that well and built from there up. Same with any model. If you start changing things to far from the model that worked well, then now you have something new and unknown. Will it work? Thats a gamble worth many millions of bucks. Thats what a lot of companies have been doing over the years and onlt a few MMOs came out winners.
They picked DAoC and built a game around that. Its time to stay the course or scrap 6 years of development and start over with a new model. Every quest, story, crafting, PvP all ties into 3 faction DAoC style war. MMOs are monster and not a easy thing to just start changing core elements and have no clue what the outcome will be.
Just wondering, but do you have any specific information on that topic. I couldn't find anything about it so far, but I heard quests are pretty generic and won't recognize your race. Also, the storyline is more about you getting your soul back from Molag Bal, not so much about that Alliance war. But I could be wrong of course, maybe you heard more?
I personally like what we're hearing in regard to these things, though nothing definitive has been shown on most of this stuff.
The classes and questing that have been discussed by zen have me fairly intrigued to give the PVE side of this game a try. With the added layer of TES like combat and lore, this could be something that grabs my full attention at least until I'm through those parts of the game.
Crafting: well about that I haven't seen much other than statements, and those statements are what I like to hear (crafting that matters) I'm hoping to see/meet some dedicated crafters in this game, I much prefer dealing with a person on an individual basis for gear, scratching each others backs if you will, it's a much better form of attaining gear than dealing with interfaces with no soul.
For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson
how dare people feel entitled to play a game they buy. HOW FUCKING DARE THEY.
Buying entitles you to change it to suit your individula preferences? When I buy a Honda Civic I don't whine because it isn't a Porsche. Do you?

Just because you slap a Porche badge on it doesn't make it a Porche.
So sticking a TES label on it when it's core design is DAOC is why people 'whine'.
From their website:
It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom.
Four years ago, in 2E 578, an arcane explosion of energy in the Imperial City set off mystical aftershocks that swept across Nirn. Mages died or went mad. Supernatural abominations from the plane of Oblivion, the Daedra, appeared in greater numbers than ever before. The constellation of the Serpent grew so large that it dominated the night sky.
So began the grand scheme of Molag Bal, Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement. His Dark Anchors, vortexes of evil magic, weaken the barrier between worlds, threatening to merge Nirn and Oblivion into a single, nightmarish hellscape.
In the midst of this chaos, three alliances vie for control of the Imperial City and the White-Gold Tower. High Rock, Sentinel, and Orsinium stand as one, united under the rule of the High King in Wayrest. Valenwood and Elsweyr have forged an alliance of their own with Summerset, while Black Marsh, Morrowind, and Skyrim have formed a third, uneasy pact.
The Daggerfall Covenant. The Aldmeri Dominion. The Ebonheart Pact.
Three armies will take up arms against the Empire, and against each other, to wrest control of the Imperial City and White-Gold Tower from the dark forces of Oblivion itself.
Where do your loyalties lie?
It seems to me you read the parts you liked and then stopped. Highlighted it for you to make it harder to miss. So now....what's the story about again?

Do you go to the store and demand the bread get change to suit if you don't find some PERFECT type? You have choices, buy or not buy. Move on if you can't deal with this.

I didn't buy a Porsche I bought a Honda Civic. But hey, don't let that stop you from misinterpreting it and clumsily trying to make some sort of point.

Or walk into a fish and chip shop and demand they make you a pizza. I dont get the trashing of any game. If you dont like it use the loudest voice you have. Say it with your money. Dont buy it. I dont like CU but you dont find me there all day every day bashing the game? Demanding they add PvE dungeons (all it would take to have me buy the game when it comes out) I see its not what I want so now I am following ESO and Wildstar. What one will win my money? Depends on how they deliver the game. I would love to come to this forum and talk about the cool stuff about the game but the dozen or so vocal haters take over every thread till all we have is hate threads.
The class system is one of my favorite and most appealing aspects of the game. They are just different enough for identity purposes yet I can still completely customize and equip any piece of equipment I desire.
My biggest fear is end-game. I hope they don't pull a Bioware and completely underestimate how much end-game content is needed. RvR has to be very well done, almost perfect, since Zenimax is putting all its eggs in this basket.
