Waiting Crowd - We need your $5!

Xirrin from the Opposition Podcast had an interesting idea awhile back that I just heard. There are over 10k people subscribed to the newsletter and I've heard from a bunch of people that they are waiting to see if it gets close to pledge. What CU really needs are more backers, not necessarily more money at this point. People are pointing to the number of backers and saying 'No one wants this game', when I think the reality is there are a lot more people interested in this game who are just lurking.

Lurking is Hurting! lol. So Xirrin's suggestion was to just pledge $5. Just to show your support and raise the backer number. Then once it gets close to the end you can decide whether or not you want to raise your amount to the $25 pre-order discount level or even higher.

EVERYONE can afford $5 and what better way to show your support for the PC Gaming community than to skip that Starbucks/Big Gulp/Rockstar and help out an indie developer who is self-publishing a game. This is how we are going to keep the PC Gaming industry strong.

I think this Kickstarter needs to fail. I think CSE needs to spe.d some time to actually create something, THEN launch another Kickstarter. Everyone and their mamma has ideas. Everyones ideas sound great when they explain them for an hour at a time. Not every idea translates well in practice. Show me something more than two character models and some choppy animations on a laptop and I'll pledge.

Currently playing: GW2 (Maguuma), DAoC (Uthgard), & Aion
Waiting For / Watching: TUG, CU, Black Desert, Archeage,Wildstar, and ESO.

please stop begging, it was already rediculous.

I play MMOs for the Forum PVP

  • botrytisbotrytis Member RarePosts: 3,363

Won't get my 5 dollars, 1. No game play alpha video. 2. No PvE. I have better things to do with it.

Besides the above, there are so many threads already hyping this Kiskstarter, do we really need another? Not dumping or trolling, just asking an honest question. I mean, if this would be a GW2, TSW, or SWTOR thread, people would be asking the same thing. I understand people are interested in the game but all these independent threads like this CAN be put in one super thread. All you gents are doing is causing more aggrivation and negativity towards the game and that is not what you are driving for.

You really don't understand how a kick starter works, do you :)

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

You can pull anyone off the street and ask them for an idea, put it out before the world and find 200k+ that like it.

That doesnt mean a thing. Jacobs can say all he wants that he is trying to break the chains of corporations getting in the way of making games, the truth is...no company wanted him. He had his chance several times and his ideas failed. No different than Raph Koster and at least he was capable of making 3 very different MMOs unlike Jacobs that keeps wanting to use the exact same base design. Worse yet, it seems that the original DaoC team are locked into the same train of thought as can be seen by TESO. Even though nobody wanted to fund DaoC 2, they still cant get it into their heads that FEW people like the DaoC design.

Few people care, he knows it himself and that is why he states he is targetting a small niche, and seeing as how DaoC was a niche and half of those players are backing TESO over CU, its a niche of a niche.

While aiming small makes an easier target to hit, it makes raising money even more difficult...but seriously, I do NOT see how they wont reach 2 million...projects far worse than this has managed to reach their goals.

See, I can rip it to pieces and STILL be realistic about it. CU will reach its goal or I will die laughing.

We do understand, but most people funding this have read moreinto the campaign that what it is. Most games do have some alpha footage or something more concrete than MJ's platitudes and promises. Things can change quickly when one figures what you can or can't put into a game when on the clock and seeing what your game engine can do.

What? What? Sorry I can't hear you over the hordes of PvP-centric players thundering over to the kickstarter page to fund this game.

*Sarcasm* Maybe we need even more forum posts and more posts about this crap in other games forums!

Dear god this game has an obsessive crowd :p

If you want more funds, then go to places where it has less exposure and put as much effort there as here and i bet there's a bigger chance there to find people who are willing to and haven't backed yet.

This game is still on paper........ no money for you.

90% of kickstarters promise the epic mmorpg of all time, yet fail to deliver half of what it promises. I will not invest money in this.

  • kosackosac Member UncommonPosts: 206
noo its to much on promises from MJ.. and to much oldschool..  i hope in ESO RvR.. this is to flat concept..

People are gonna wait til the last minute for CU. They're waiting on more like character models and animations I believe, and as much information they can get before deciding to back it.

This is how I feel. I've heard too many ideas that amounted to nothing. How does that saying go, "Fool me once...."

True...... and that's why I'm actually starting up a Kickstarter for Camelot: Unhinged.

The plan is that it'll have everything that the people who already funded the Unchained kickstarter liked, but ALSO everything that people who HAVEN'T funded it WANT!!!

    Haha!! Checkmate!

Funny enough, if everyone who pledged put in an additional  $98 and change it would fund.

    Now this isn't C.U. 's fault.

But I've been burnt a few times and I refuse to let it happen again.

Partly my fault , by getting over-hyped and just throwing money at the next " Big Game " coming down the pike.

Also by false promises , and or the failure to deliver said promises.

All of this has left me a bit jaded , and until a company can prove to me that they deserve my money, they get nothing.

I hope the game reaches its goal.

    I also hope it's a huge success .

But as far as money goes...... It aint happening .

Begging before the game even gets off the ground,  good luck CU fanboys.  Maybe this site will stop being flooded with "news" about a game that hasn't even had a single line f code written.

I still stand by my advice for him: It be more effective on places where it has less exposure.

And I'll be glad the campaign will be over so the activity goes to normal instead of this :p
  • The $5 pledge isn't really a good choice IMO. Oh wow, forums access. At $25 you get the actual game.
  • OnigodOnigod Member UncommonPosts: 756

So by donating to your idea we are supporting the whole pc gaming community?

I dont have enough money to give everyone that has a idea $5.

I would be a millionaire if i got paid $5 for my ideas, Maybe i should start a kickstarter someday and just deliver atleast 10 percent of the things i have promised to be above the usual standart for these things.

I would write more but i have a starbucks to get.

To much begging for ur vaporware, proof me different first before you open 50 threads including those 1 post accounts talking the game into heaven.

THe game concepts are great, but we have seen and heard this before. And its funny to see people get upset over a game thats still a concept and not reality and expect us to give our money up. If not we are bashers ;)

I am definitely a basher. If you have ever pitched a game or seen a pitch of a game then you know what is expected of you. I felt like MJ took to Kickstarter with his name in hopes that he could just get around the whole process of actually bringing something to the table. I mean I even felt like a good chunk of the concept was hashed out right in these very forums.

So, yes, I am a basher, but with good reason. Actually I think that anyone who isn't investing is actually doing a community service for those who put $250+ of their hard earned money into the pot on hopes and dreams. You're welcome!

Well, there is actually already some code written and work put in it. They are designing their own engine, and its going pretty fast and well, check their updates.
