I'm with you on this. We're getting early access to beta's.. beta 'weekends'.. alphas (the REAL betas) going on full time behind weekend betas..

    It's just dumb marketing bullshit.

If there's no character wipe and the cash shop is in full flow... this game is NOT in beta. It's the release. The 'unfinished' release.

Saying that, I'm not trying to bash the game.. just the industry as a whole. I know loads of companies are doing this now. I hated the game when I played the 'beta' weekends.. but I'll try it again in 2 days for the open beta (release) and will give it another chance.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

That was the impression I got from watching the combat that LOOKS spammy.

No, Your skills are on cooldown but ou have a hell of a lot fewer abilities.  One of the reasons I'm not too keen on the compbat is how their too fee.  Sure there are some class mechanics like stealth and divine power but even then only 3 (or 4?) abilities with moderate cooldowns and 2 lengthy cooldowns is dumbdown simplistic combat not matter how you wanna try to look at it.  Left n Right mouse buttons are nothing more than autoattacks.

Spammy is not the case though.  I'd say a good pace of hitting abilities but too limiting imo.

I can't speak for all the classes, but I can say that the tricker rogue is done significantly better than the GW2 Thief and feels like a far more complicated and rewarding class.

Not all encounter powers are long cooldowns, there are several lower in the TR tree that are relatively short... Like sub 5 seconds, and you can reduce them further with the recovery stat.  Wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case for other classes.

Nah, I don't like the combat in Gw2.  It's not really the same at all.  It's tab target  hybrid and loose with no sense of impact.. bleh.

I'd compare neverwinter more to Tera if anything, but the combat is more responsive.

It appears to be a dungeon crawler ,  Thats no problem however because most MMO's I played I ended up grouping in 5 man or 10 man dungeons   for example in RIFT .

The fact that unlimited amount of content exists with the foundry will make this quite fun but unfortunately if there is no reward or loot grind then it will get stale fast Im guessing .

The lengthy cooldowns are in reference to Dailies, Encounters I said were moderate cooldowns.  Bit still far too few and too often it's using the same ability over n over with not much variety at all.  Swapping out powers does not bring the variety I'm talking about.  Classes feel like a class in WoW but with only having one talent tree which is a big mistake I'd say.

Neverwinter's Rogue more complicated than GW2....right... GW2 Traits provides way more custimization than Neverwinter, GW2 has two weapon slots that dictates the style, a wide array of utility skills that Neverwinter has nothing of, combos in GW2 that Neverwinter doesn't have.  Neverwinter does have the stealth mechanic while nice doesn't do all the much in complexity.  Neverwinter will be IS a Diablo syle hack n slash combat that is simplistic in nature.

played plenty in beta.. but still feel the same as i did then.. trickster rouge is a FUN class but honestly the rest are meh to me.. but rogue is fun enough to make up for that now.. guess thats good for me as I'm usually an altaholic but only liking a single class will keep me stuck on that class:P

Aero I'm still trying to decide on a main , was leaning towards guardian fighter as really like melee and was hoping they'd be wanted in dungeon runs lots.

Hows the rogue when soloing ?

It's ok but the RMT prices are so damn high i never saw something like that before, respec costs Zen (600 Zen roughly 6$) if you want the rank 3 (fastest) mounts you need either 4000 Zen (roughly 40$, lol) or 2 million Astral diamonds (you can only obtain 25k per day on playing ingame).

All this RMT stuff bleeds through the whole game, you want too disenchant your Items? Pay Astral Diamonds, want to get a good companion (up too Rank 30 normal companions only get 15 ranks then you need too pay ludicrous amount of Diamonds)? Drop some Zen, you could try your hand on the AH because there you only pay with Astral Diamonds (is this p2w?). Want too level your crafting faster? Pay with Astral Diamonds.

Right now the conversion rate for Astral Diamonds is around 500 Diamonds for 1 Zen, so do the math.

Right now most people ingame still have allot of Diamonds too spare because of the packs, we will see the outcry when most people burned through them, if they are feed up and do something about it or shut up and pay like good little milk cows.

i'm sure guardian will be more sought after in dungeons they are okay probably a distant second favorite class to rogue for me.. Solo has been fine so far.. but never got a rogue very high in beta as I didn't want to spoil things to much

A wide array of skills is meaningless when you can only use so many at a time.  The TR feels like a far more interesting class when your playing the game with the skills you've chosen, which is all that really matters.

Lets be honest though, the thief is GW2 is one of worst designed classes I've seen in a AAA MMO in quite a while, and the worst iteration of a rogue class ive ever played....It has design flaws on top of design flaws.  So it's not really a fair fight to begin with

Thankf for the info , reversed for rme but rogue is not that distant of second choice (mage and cleric just didnt do it for me the brief time I tried them in the intro , just wanted to really try melee for this one).

I'll have to say I had about written off NWN from just reading the forums here and there about it , but actually playing it is much more fun and glad I didnt pass it up.

I wasn't much interested but some friends wanted to make a team for it so they persuaded me to join. I must say, having a lot of fun so far. Not sure if I would like to play this game solo but in a group it's really fun.

However... I'm going to be humble this time and give Neverwinter another try. The beta left me with very negative feelings and I doubt these will be changed with the "release". So, I'm probably going to stomp it down to ground and just continue playing DDO and you know, Neverwinter Nights.

It's not D&D; if they called it something else and changed all of the names and monsters, I might be able to get over the fact that the basic system just isn't interesting, but as you say, with 2 pretty good REAL D&D games not that old, I just can't see what this game has to offer.

oh also the gateway is amazing.. love being able to browse the auction house and place bids and such from anywhere.. also i don't care much for crafting but its also nice in a time based crafting system that I can just pop on the gateway and start up crafting task

I agree, I leveled mine to 80 for god knows what reason, anything is more complicated then a GW2 Thief.

OP: The game is fun. They focus on getting you to do stuff, theres no downtime. Dungeons, skirmishes, PvP and foundry quests are all very easy to access. The game focuses on its strong point, the combat. If you were after deep crafting or world, then this isnt the game for you. But the combat is fun, and the encounters in later dungeons aer challenging and enjoyable. Also PvP is pretty balanced, which is rare for MMOs.

At the least, its worth a try when it goes open beta.

heres a couple reasons i enjoy the game..

Combat with trickster rogue is a lot of fun.. its fast, looks great, and plays well.. all the other classes.. meh

It has a very D&D feel.. i dunno why people bitch so much its not D&D as the game feels like D&D and has lots of familiar characters and names

I love the que system. I don't always have a ton of time to play but its nice to pop on and just jump into a skirmish or a dungeon or a foundry mission

Gateway is amazing.. such a great tool and wish other games i played in the past had something similar

Foundry to me is what sets the game apart. Already there are TONS of foundry missions, some really crappy but some really fun ones. I have such a great campaign idea i want to start building. Just to finish that will take me a LONG time. For anyone who is interested in creating their own quests own campaigns this is an amazing tool.. its also great for people who want to level alts as it breaks up the monotomy of doing the same thing over and over.

Crafting is ok nothing special sort of like swtor.. but with gateway its nice since you can start a task from the web anywhere

PVP is basic arena stuff ill try the 20vs20 area but overall nothing special in the PVP department but i'm surely not playing this for PVP.. maybe if they implement the foundry PVP ill be more interested.

Anyway game is fun it feels like D&D but like all games it has its share of issues but I'm having a good time for now

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Thank you!  Those big, nearly lidless, unblinking eyes bugged the heck outta me.  To the point that I bug reported it, not that they even noticed I'm sure, but I never did encounter anyone else in-game or out who was also bothered by it.  So again, thank you for the validation.

During many NPC cinematics I would find myself losing track of what the NPC was talking about as I thought to myself, "blink....  Blink ....  BLINK, DAMN YOU!"  Heh, notice how while the video creator is talking to someone that NPC doesn't blink, not even once.  Unfortunately the limited video quality doesn't really demostrate the bug eyes well.
