Erm.. I think you'll find this is the DnD community. That's the main draw to the game, not the name of the publisher. Most people playing probably haven't even played a PWE game before this.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
I don't think a game being F2P gives it a higher chance of having douches. Maybe at lower level but once players have invested sometime they don't want to be banned. Even if they can just create another free account they have lost a lot of their time. There's always been jerks in MMOs, but in this age of group finders, cross-server instances, etc it's a lot easier for guys to behave selfishly. In the old days that type of behavior would see them exiled by anyone who wasn't like-minded.
I have found the Neverwinter community to be very helpful so far. Even in /zone chat I have had my questions answered by in zone and by /whisper.
I do find it very odd that people want to make a rolling system where you can only roll on an item if it is for your class? If I fought the battle shouldn't I get a shot at the loot?
Now, obviously, I would give the dagger to the rogue because I am WAY nice! BUT, what if my D&D roll had been a toon that was kinda evil or greedy or not honest? I mean this IS an MMORPG and we are bound by Federal Law to play our roles because it IS an RPG. Which means that inside I might be dying to give the nice dude his dagger but, my role simply will not allow it and I have to put it in my bag and take it with me. Don't blame me - blame the dice.
Also, so many want non-drama guilds and instance runs? When there is no drama in an MMORPG then somebody is failing on the RP part. AND, non-drama guilds and runs are Booooooorrrrrrriiiiiinnnnnnnggggggg! Part of the experience of an MMORPG is being around different types of people and not just bots.
I was in a guild in WoW where the guild GM's nightelf wife was having an affair with our mage. It took the GM a while to find out and guild attendance and Raid night popularity went WAY up because everybody was SO intrigued by the drama, story, plot... it was like a soap and NOBODY wanted to miss any of it.
Remember the famous quote: All the MMORPG world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.
Enjoy watching the play and enjoy acting in the play!

Your response is trollish at best. Zone chat is a constant spam train. Even if people wanted to be courteous, they couldn't.
People that use RP as an excuse to ninja loot are full of crap, because rolls are Out Of Character, not In Character actions. So to say that your character is deciding to roll need is just an excuse for the Mun of that character to be a douche. The characters aren't breaking out dice to decide who gets what, you're deciding it out of character, and that is deciding what your character happens to loot.
If you want to RP a thief that steals people's stuff, after the chest is looted would be the point where you shank that person in the back, or threaten them to give up their loot, unfortunately open world pvp with full loot barely exists anymore in MMO's.
So... who is making or who wants to make a guild dedicated to Neverwinter and a relaxed yet progressive community, both in pvp and pve? ( MindFlayer Server)?
As I said earlier, find a good guild. Joined an aussie guild on Mindflayer and am having the best experience guild-wise since EQ2. There are really awesome players in this game. Just don't expect to find them in the dungeon finder.

Yes, joining a guild will hugely improve your chances of finding people who are at least oriented toward "playing well with others". It's no guarantee of success, and you may have to try a few guilds to find a good fit, but it's still a far, far better option than joining random PUG's.
When I am leader in a dungeon, I kick all who need on everything.. well except tanks because they are too hard to replace. It's not that a care about some green crap, it is from principle alone.

That is the BEST thing about the trinity style games is that all you have to do to take unfair advantage of other people is play a tank or healer.
Could we all get together and sing the praises of trinity style games?
Oh thank goodness that I can't do it all
Otherwise I might stand so very tall
I must depend on some random person's skill
so they can take my loot all against my will
Chorus:
oh I love the trinity,
don't ever let it change
even if it means I rage
from ninja loots in raids
oh I love the trinity
don't ever let it change
I'll just win that drop
in another hundred days
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
Tank or Heal. A group needs though. I tank in TSW. If someone rubs me the wrong way I will boot them. DPS can be replaced in an instant. I've done it numerous times, to people that just have attitude problems. If your a jackass healer and the rest of the group is on board, I'll boot you too. People need to learn the game is to have FUN not, roflstomp the instance, be jackass to everyone, and do whatever you want.
If someone told me what that dude said, I would of said you serious? Let them respond with another blatant comment, and said goodbye to them with a boot. At that point, you would of rid yourself of the clown cleric because well, he wouldn't stand for that kind of action, because it was a person being a person in a video game, a jackass, and that is how we obviously act in a random online setting instead of treating people with mutual respect.

Unfortunately when so many of the players pugging have attitude problems it can be hard to get a good PUG.
Sometimes as tank Ive kicked a healer who was just really terrible and the entire group bails . But as tank or healer you get group almost instantly but as DPS finding good healer and tank can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
How does group leading in this game actually work? Because that's the problem with these dungeon finder things: you can't just kick these stupid twats in the butt any longer.
No, in a a dungeon finder system, you have to vote and get the majority to kick. Except the other people are usually either other twats themselves or dudes who don't say a word and want to get that dungeon finished as fast as possible.
To the OP: it's a commonplace things nowadays, in many MMO's. At least it gives you the chance to train yourself in witty remarks I guess.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
My sympathies, OP, really. But I experience and hear such things all the time. It's what you get with F2P masses. In the 3 days before F2P came in the chat was MUCH better.
Humanity is rotten these days, and internet made it worse, tell me what you want.
People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert

Actually, in Neverwinter, as it stands now, there is no voting to kick anyone. If you queue for a group, someone (usually the GF) is given leadership and they can do whatever they want. That's even the way it is in PvP and it's laughable. Not sure what they were thinking with that.
Elikal is right about what the game was like when it was just founders and guardians for about 5 days.
General chat was night-day. People were actually friendly - socializing - little to zero 12 year old Xbox live style spamming idiotic things in text form etc.
It's why overall I much prefer a box price plus sub fee in an mmo.
Nothing to do with the actual cash shop , its because it provides a barrier to entry for the idiots who are there to do nothing but act like morons , cause problems , and know there are zero repercussions.
There are rude idiots in sub plus box fee games but the portion compared to free games is very evident.
Again the chat for early access was a group of folks talking about the game and 99% being friendly with each other.
The f2p gates opened that Tuesday and it was immediately flooded with 8th grade lunchroom chat basically.
I stopped doing dungeons after Lair of the Mad Dragon after repeatedly running into dopey behavior in these dungeon groups. Rarely will anyone speak to you and you have people running around in every direction. I really don't know if it is just kids who don't understand grouping in MMOs or people who just want to cause problems or what the issue is. But I decided if I can find a decent guild maybe I would revisit the dungeons, but until then I am not doing any of the dungeons in this game.
Yhaa i do so many random parties as a 60 healer and most the time everyone usees that need instade of greed so when i get into a real group and im that guy that messes up and need on something i shouldnt and they all greed the item it kills me a little inside knowing i dun F***ed up lol. So ill say this at the start of the dung if your with randoms ask what they are gonna do if they dont say anything Need all so you get more stuff or chances if you are playing with a friend.
Im sorry OP that you had such a bad time with the community. There are all types of people in this world and you got the bad apples that round. Not everyone is like that, you just got to find people with similar interests as you and join them in a guild or add them to friends.
Concerning the loot,
ALWAYS roll need in PUGS... because that is what the norm is now. People run pugs due to boredom or not having friends online atm. While sometimes you run into people that end up turning into long time gaming partners, most people just run it to get loots to sell, give to alts, etc.
My sympathies, OP, really. But I experience and hear such things all the time. It's what you get with F2P masses. In the 3 days before F2P came in the chat was MUCH better.

Total rubbish. The 'f2p masses' are the same people who came from p2p games. There are just a lot of asshat gamers out there. What was the excuse a couple years ago before all this f2p hubbub? Oh right, it was WoW's fault. Remember that? WoW was the reason your favorite sub game had trolls because the WoW community was so much worse than your game community.
There isn't a better or worse class of people and if there was it wouldn't be determined by whether they pay a recurring fee to rent games or not. I hope you see how silly that sort of posturing is.
Speaking of WoW, can we honestly say that this stuff is any worse than the infamous Barrens chat?

I had a great time when only Hero and Guardian pack owners had Access to the servers.
People were decent and rolled greed most of the time. Nice atmosphere in chat, etc.
The moment the server opened up for everyone on that Tuesday, the entire community turned to Complete crap overnight!
It's now the typical terrible F2P community you see in every other F2P game out there. /shrug
And the Whole AD sink in this game, practically forcing People to become A-holes (like With all PWE games) makes it only worse.
I just Count the Guardian Pack Investment as a loss and moved on. Won't be touching this turd of a Money grabbing game With a ten foot pool anymore.
Having a blast in GW2 and EQ2 again. At least the communities in those games are great! :-)
I have had some bad pugs in any game i played so far.
But in Neverwinter, it's a whole new level of BAD.
