I believe a large part of our community is waiting for their next game and believing this may be it!
Sure most of us continue to play an MMO or maybe bounce between a few. Still looking for that feeling we used to have when a game consumed us. We loved it . Whether it was SWG, EQ, WoW or some other game that got us hooked. The feeling is gone and it’s time for something new to fill the void. I believe a lot of us felt and wanted GW2 to be the one to do this. A beautiful game that has many innovative features, it just didn’t completely fill the void. Now WildStar is on the horizon and looks to be the game that can finally bring back that feeling of excitement and community. So far the game looks to have most of the innovative features from GW2 and all the things we wanted from our past loves, as well as some great new features. Is this the one? Is this the game we've all been waiting for? What do you think?

i think expectations are detrimental to enjoying anything in life (especially movies)
I look forward to playing Wildstar but only as a fun game - I'm not putting it on any pedestals
EQ2 fan sites
ooh that is a hard choise man, and to think you but quite alot of hopes just 2 titles. but yea repopulation dont personally intrest me but wildstar will and if it fails then i just move on, mmos are hobby!
After watching all the vids and reading a lot, the two biggest questions in my mind are 1) combat feel and 2) class customization and balance.
Combat feel either works you or it doesn't, and you can't know that until you play the game. But the biggest potential letdown for me would be cookie-cutter classes that don't offer much customization. With Wildstar downplaying character stats in favor of gear-based stats, like Guild Wars 2, I'm thinking there's room for disappointment there. The strongest way to identify with your character is to make tough choices about his progression. I never got that with Guild Wars 2, and hope Wildstar doesn't fall into the same trap.
And I suppose if quests were few in number and not very interesting, that could ruin the game for me also, but I think Wildstar is going to go the other direction. I expect the questing to be a major strength of the game.
Those are the question marks for me. There's plenty of information out there for other systems and mechanics. So as an educated guess, I think Wildstar is something I could sink my teeth into, and I'm not too worried about it not meeting expectations.
You never get the feeling you had with your first MMO again. It was all new then and just playing was an adventure of discovery.
I agree. But I guess I have faltered. I have placed it on a pedestal already. I thought of the many features, including basic dynamics such as character controls, and have already compared them to other games. My predictions - wildstar does it better them most mmos.
a large part of the mmo community play wow and they always will..
So no this is not the next game for the majority, tho i am sure some people will enjoy it.
With those kind of graphics....I doubt it
The next big game will be world of darkness remember that.
Next big name game? Yeah it'll be wildstar.
Next truly big (as in revolutionary) game? Albion Online, mark my words.
I'm sure it will be very popular among the twilight-obsessed youth of today.
The Enlightened take things Lightly
Those types of graphics sadly are prevalent in most MMO's, SW;TOR for instance also had 'those kind of graphics' but yeah, i have a good feeling about WoD, and im hoping CCP really manage to pull it off, as their more recent addition Dust 514 was a bit of a damp squib, about all i see in Wildstar is another Themepark grindathon, so i'll wait and see how it looks once its been out a few months, assuming its out this year that is.
they might find it a bit too nasty for them, killing them repeatedly usually helps
I am waiting and been ever since the first day i found out about Square Enix was making a new game that turned out to be FFXIV.However the game did not turn out the way i had hoped.
A few games along the way were not too bad but empty, tough to play a MMO with an empty server.
Then along comes Wildstar,i watch a plethora of videos on just about everything the game is doing and it looks fun and full of content.problem is it has several cons that are perhaps too much for me to look past.I put a lot of thought into this game because the next game i call home may be my last and i will definitely stay in my next game for at least a year or two.
I looked at a lot of things in this game and i decided there is some fun factor but i don't think it would last long. However i have decided i will still give it a shot, but my expectations are sort of low.
I think there is a better chance Archeage might be the game but even that game is doing several things i don't like.
I guess one might say that since both games are doing several things i don't like,it says that they at least have lots of content. Many games that have come out of late are trying to mislead us over 1 or 2 gimmicks.I am not into gimmicks ,i want a complete game full of content that will keep me interested for a long time.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
This kind of thing happens with almost every new MMO release. Praise will be sung pre-release, and then the game will be bashed by those same people because the developers "failed to deliver" what was promised. The fact of the matter is that this is rarely the case. The only way the game failed you is that it didn't live up to the hype you garnered upon it.
Games, as with all media, is consumed subjectively. There will be players that think that Wildstar is the best thing since sliced bread. And there will be those that demonize it as being "what's wrong with the industry today". Are either of those camps "right"? No. There is no absolute. It all boils down to how many players enjoy the game as to how successful it will ultimately be, and different people enjoy different things.
That game will be as far from Twilight as you can get lol..
throwing a twilight fan into WoD is pretty much the same as throwing a baby rabbit into a pack of wolves..
Don't you guys want something different?
Different in what way? seriously how many ways can you do questing? and xp gain ? sometimes i think people want something that cant be made from a mmo or that they want real life but on a screen
I just want fun lvling/xp gain i don't really care if it is based on an old system
