If i had used the 'axe to face' method to 10 000 other problems along my way beforehand; i would probably say talking with the robber is the the more interesting choice.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
Nothing is wrong, this just simply is what humanity is. The real world is full of killing, crimes, rapes, wars and whatnot "sick stuff" and it always has been so. That's just human nature since the stone age, and it reflects in to the games, all the games are so violent because that's what the audience, humans, want.
while i agree with you in principal i think the point the OP is making is that human beings are most decidedly *not* just war, mayhem, and violence. that is certainly a part of us, but we are also so many other things as well.
i think it would be great to see some of the other sides of our humanity incorporated into mmorpg's as well.
Yeah, maybe I put it a bit too blunt. Afterall I personally also would like to see more other ways of gameplay than just killing in mmorpgs. Planetside 2 introduced a new vehicle "The Harasser" buggy style fast car into the game, it's the first vehicle I actually like to pilot instead of being the gunner since it's just plain fun going over the mountains, even if my ultimate goal is to find targets for the gunner
I'd like to add to the OP's argument that while these other titles are fun (the ones without killing that are essentially minigames or facebook games) it's much more fun to see them in the mmo's we play and it gives us things to do in those mmo environments.
WoW had this in spades. They have zombies vs plants, they have farmville, and they have their fishing minigames.
Because all these things exist in their mmo environment it was much more fun to play then playing the FB versions. It would be nice to see in more mmos.
GW2 had their super adventure box and crabtoss and people are asking for those kinds of things to be permanent.

I agree full-heartedly that ALL types of content should exist within a game.
The added problem is "how useful" is the content,if nobody is using it,then kind of a waste. Is content repeatable or boring after a week or one run.
There is yet more, most of these games do not have any physics or technology that would make for good game play in other forms of content.I would not consider simple jumping ideas as fun nor anything having hand holding attached to it ,example sparkles or highlighted levers/buttons.You need to put some effort in there, high quality textures,so it looks nice, destructible surfaces, hidden objects animations layered environments.
Basically ,if a game can't do it right, might as well not do it at all, might as well just make linear questing and instances.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Good, then make that your topic.
:Moar Variety Plz: is always a perfectly acceptable plea in any mmo title.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
I think it would be nice if now and then we strove to imagine worlds better than our own.
