The Asian culture is sick. They are into some really weird ass shit, no offense if you are Asian....
Shooting people in the head is totally healthy practice since it's common in entertainment in your culture. Drawing a child in revealing clothes is sick since it's done by others.
I think most of us can agree that representatives of other cultures are sick, and the further their culture is from ours the more sick they are.
As usual, it astounds me where this thread started with its simplicity of point, and where we are now, completely off topic. Well I guess there are the egos and site reputation to uphold.

How old is the boy in this picture ?
That art isn't trying to sell you anything. It's a conversation between you and the art, nothing more. This advertisement on mmorpg.com is trying to sell you something. There's a specific agenda behind this advertisement. There is not an agenda behind that art work.

Can you share what you think that agenda is?
When I saw this ad, much like every EE ad since i started playing a year or so ago, the ad is selling "cute, fun and silly" to me. You see the ad and, per your previous post "You feel dirty."
Are you sure the issue is the ad?
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre

The agenda is to sell a video game. The issue is the ad. I don't want the game or the ridiculous little girl and lama looking at me screaming "play this game."
I love that lama's face. I click the ad and save the picture of the lama with the bird on his back, then I went into photoshop and did some editing and now I saved it as my desktop background.
Originally posted by DamonVile You know what's really disturbing... you people that see a picture of a little girl and immediately think sex/pedophile. When I look at those Ads I think it's a game my nephew/niece might want to play......
So this forum is for children? Are you saying you think it's okay for children to come here and read what some of these people have to say?
The Asian culture is sick. They are into some really weird ass shit, no offense if you are Asian. That little girl on the right has a huge rack, the drawing is clearly giving the idea of an upskirt shot and she's clearly being portrayed as someone between the ages of 6 and 10. If you don't see a problem with that, then you're just as sick as them.
First my nephew doesn't buy games...his parents do. Second...I'm sick if I don't see the sexual nature in a picture of a little girl....yeah I'm pretty sure some professionals who specialize in this type of thing wouldn't agree with you there.
Offense intended...if this picture turns you on or stirs up those kinds of feelings...you are a fucking pedo and need help. You can call me sick all you like but I'm happy it just looks like a picture of a little girl to me...nothing sexual at all about it. Of course when I see a little naked kid running around on the beach...it's just a naked kid running around on the beach to me....nothing sexual there either. Can you say the same ?
I think the issue with the girl is that she is depicted with a pink flotation device around her waste. Usually grown women will not have that. Hence people are thinking "it's a child with a big rack". No flotation device and I think most people would see at least a teen girl or a young woman (maybe the same?). Not into Manga or whatever its called but I think most children are depicted with big eyes and the adults have regular ones, so their is that too.
OT: Llama is weird and funny. That look he/she has is priceless.

I imagine since it's good enough for the metropolitan museum in NY it's passing this site's policies...but I can't be sure.
I must know before my ban as it's very relevant to the topic. and this topic pops up every time...
well its obv not a human boy...
frankly i'd like an answer as well. back in HS art class we spent a few days being shown slides of various renaissance works of art, statue of david, sistine chapel, various depictions of hell etc etc. all a-ok. but when for a project a drew a naked man being haunted by some ghouls, i was forced to sit in a meeting with my parents and various school officials for drawing nudity and 'disturbing, horror movie schlock'. it was a good drawing too, not the typical monsters teenagers doodle on their notebooks. and wasnt violent or sexual, just a naked cowering man with ghouls learing over him.
who knows, maybe in a few hundred years someone will fins that picture in a garbage dump somewhere and think its a masterpiece lol

ill GUARANTEE you the artist was trying to sell the image to someone, probably was commisioned to paint just whta he did as a matter of fact
As someone who played Eden Eternal for a good few months I must add my 2 cents...
First, its an Alpaca, not a Llama! But same thing I guess.
2nd.... believe it or not, the alpaca is even more bizarre / cute in-game. Don't ask me how I noticed this, but if you zoom in on the backside of the alpaca, it actually has a small b-hole textured onto its backside right under the tail.

He might have been commissioned to paint it for a single person but he didn't paint it and then try and sell it to hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people.

the person who commissioned it surely displayed it proudly and showed it off to anyone who visited hishome. not thousands, of course, but what does the number matter? it was not hidden away in the rennaissance version of a 'porn stash'

I don't even know why we're talking about porn. Neither of these are pornographic.
My point was that you can't compare a piece of artwork meant for personal reflection with the few people who glimpse at it with an advertisement meant to generate revenue.
What scares me most is that they think mmorpg users are target consumers for something like that. Maybe I am getting too old for this shi..
Once You seen a gnome stacking contest in Everquest, nothing will scare you much anymore (wish I could find the screenies on google, it was on castersrealm or zam).
I didn't have a problem with Scarlet Blade...you know exactly what they were trying to sell. With the ads we got now...it just creeps me out and it makes me just a few points less I guess you could say "respective" of asians.
These Eden Eternal blade ads always seem to find a way to creep me out lol. I'll be back when the next ad rotations start.
I will never support freeloaders, no more subsidized gaming. My Blog
That Llama is HOT and makes me feel all tingly inside

You're under the false impression that the forum users make up the entirety MMORPG.com demographic. There is also another segment, often with very little overlap, that visits the rest of the site.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
I prefer both of those ads over Planet Arkadia ad.
They should never allow virtual casinos to be advertised on this site (an MMO site, not a casino site).

Now that is just disturbing. You, sir, are a truly sick and twisted individual.
