Do you know why Americans find boobs so degrading?
Because in-game boobs are always perky and perfect. American boobs are saggy and reminiscent of Miss Chokesondick from South Park. If Americans had nice boobs, then they would stop whining about it.
Heck, if I had nice boobs, I wouldn't even be playing video games!
Cunfushus says "Only through wasting time do we realize that time should not be wasted."
Scarlet Blade is a step over the line. We can talk about how big, or what line, or what the issue is with crossing it, but there's no doubt it crosses a line.
I love women, I think they're really hot, but I've been taught to respect them too. We all know this is a male dominated genre and I find the themes of the game disturbing and crossing on deviant lines. This is a prime example of developers making money off a very specific demographic of likely lonely males. I mean seriously, theres better things to do.
I also seem to remember there being quite the thread about the Scarlet Blade ads, I wonder if MMOrpg is still hosting ads for the game? I haven't seen any lately.
I have not read all the responses so I don't know if this has been mentioned. But This game is a port from a culture where sex in animation and video games is much more common than in the West. To the Asians, this is just another one of those types of games. I am not making excuses for it. It's clearly an experiment to see if they can move this (and others like it) over to English. Personally, I'd rather they didn't.
Anyway, that was only my observation. But in my worthless opinion, I'd have to say I agree with every poster who has remarked on how questionable it is for MMORPG to accept this game's advertising dollars in one hand, and in the other, take the moral high road in it's reviews of the game. It only makes MMORPG.com look blatantly obvious.
I generally don't comment on reviews because hey they're just a opinion and I usually use them to help contribute to the formulation of my own regardless of whether I agree. However, this isn't even a review this is a freaking white knight love fest. Let's see how many brownie points I can score because feminism is the hot issue in gaming this year. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I don't even play this game and even I know it's based on an anime called Queen's Blade or something and is true to the source material. They're limited by their IP here for better or worse. I would imagine the game was designed for fans of anime or that specific anime in particular as well as MMO's. When you're reviewing a game I'd much rather read about discussion of the game and its mechanics instead of pages of "ahmagerdbewbsguyzthatslikemisogyny."
Also I think it's worth debating whether the real issue here is a female dressed in a sexualized manner or the reviewers interpretation or that females wardrobe. Women have a right to dress however they want, they could walk naked down the street, it's you the viewer that don't have the right to judge or sexualize them based on their appearance regardless of what it is. Be honest here, George, you look at all those half-naked chicks and you see pure sex instead of power, strength, heroism, you know their other qualities that are also apparent in a game where they're the heroes? Why do you see that? Because you make shallow judgments based on appearance. For me the reviewer actually comes across as more misogynistic for lack of a better word than the game itself.
I will never understand how americans keep demonizing nudity and glorifying violence.
It's okay for a little kid to see someone decapitated on tv...
It is?
Let me know what channel shows decapitations because I AM SO THERE, BUDDY.
Watch any of America's 7345345373 police drama TV shows, and you will run across every type of gore you can think of after a while. Hell CSI has been there and done just about all of them at least twice.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
I find this discussion even more hilarious after waking up this morning and seeing the Elsword "little girly things" as an advertisement on this website. I wonder if the reviewer should quit his job and go work somewhere that isn't quite so "degrading".
I think what bothers most of you is that there are games now that exaggerate sexuality that has been in these games ever since the graphics could even somewhat depict it. Over the years, I've asked a lot of gamer men why they choose to play female characters, because I've always only played male characters myself. Nearly every single one of them replied with some variation of "well, if I going to watch my character in the game, I'd rather have a nice ass to look at".
The false outrage over Scarlet Blade here is nothing short of comical. Quick, go log into your game and start killing things!!!

Certain people play the "I am offended" card so easily. Well, lets try to be offended.
I am really offended that a 20 year old reviewer on a gaming site is lecturing its readers about morality and decency.
Did not know you owned the license for morality and decency.
I own the license to be offended. it is kinda popular
Can I be offended or not?
/sarcasm off
You are kinda pointing the finger at the wrong person. I am not the one that is lecturing about what is decent and what not. you should ask somebody else about your funny license.
no you can't be offended. i mean. the writer of the review isn't so why should you?
Oh really? This sentence is just an objective view of the playing experience:
Not only is this downright degrading but it’s also embarrassing to play.
... and btw I would strongly suggest you to read the thread (I know it is long, but you should read at least part of it) - as I said, playing the "offended" card is so easy and oh, YES! we all can be offended by whatever we chose.
I will never understand how americans keep demonizing nudity and glorifying violence.
It's okay for a little kid to see someone decapitated on tv...
It is?
Let me know what channel shows decapitations because I AM SO THERE, BUDDY.
To be honest you only need stay up after prime time to see such things...
While I think that in a scenario like that the issue is one of parenting not of what is on (cable) TV, your mention of prime time got me wondering just how much violence our kids can see during regular TV hours and I came across this:
In light of that, I'm thinking it's about time we started allowing a lot more boobs on TV than there currently are.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Hahaha about the part that ask how would you feel getting caught playing this....What ,are you a damn kid playing this?? My bro's rolled in while I was playing and to be honest this has been the ONLY mmo they paid attention to more than 5 minutes!!! ( They being non-gamers..) So score one for the game.
And if you have such issues with it, then why did you run ads for the game for like 3-4 months straight??!!
Yeah the game is very tongue in cheek...even had to kill a tentacle monster once..^^
The game explains why the woman are the DOMINATE species,if ya took the time to read, but at least they are putting male toons in the game soon.
The reviewer found the game in bad taste, nothing to do with morals. I agree. With all the good games out there why even bother with a poorly designed game like this?
It's apparent that the reviewer could have done better.
What is more apparent is the obvious, blatant marketing to those who value tits-and-ass above most else.
Sex is wired into us, as it is for most creatures on this Earth. It's instinctual. Humans are little more than self-aware animals.
Simple-minded people would flock to this game, as instinct might sway their intellect. They'd be inclined to prioritize ingrained aesthetics above game play. Sadly, it's those simpletons that are often the most vocal. This is borne of their ignorance.
An intuitive person might see this for what it is: a play on those ignorant of their position in an attempt to simply get paid.
TL;DR: Sex is how we're wired. Simple fok prioritize sex, and seek it everywhere possible; even in games. This game caters to those people.
I tried the game .. I will say not a bad overall game but the sexuallity in it made me feel like I should have Beavis and Butthead sitting behind me doing that stupid laugh.
Parts were good and parts were bad ... i think it needs more work... lots more work. I think it appeals to the teenager in all of us .. but too bad it is the awkward teen part of us.
Worst review ever. I played it and could actually review the gameplay rather than going on and on about the character models. We get it, the game has boobs. You knew this coming in, everyone knew this before reading this article. Still, you go on like a broken record about how this is unmoral. Can't believe you actually get paid to write this trash.

There ya go. More people ignorant to the actual point of the review.
See, you don't get it, kid. The reviewer isn't attacking the game for having boobs. He's not calling it immoral (or "unmoral", as you so eloquently wrote...) He's simply noting the fact that this game offers nothing but boobs. It's a shit game, but it has boobs. Boobs appeal to teenagers (or the like-minded), and -that's- their only marketable feature.
Those who defend such an obvious appeal to the ignorance of a sex-starved fanbase should question why they're doing so.
Wow I cant believe people are defending this game.
I thought the review was good. You all act like he was suppose to review this like it was some A+ game. Its a 5h!ty game any real gamer could see it without playing it, but then again maybe thats why so many here buy 5h!ty mmos and rage about it.
No one should expect a review of an unquestionable 5h!7y game to be detailed and thought provoking.
I mean AoC had nudity and I dont remember MMORPG.com reviews blasting it for it. Maybe just maybe the review was the way it was cause it was a 5h!7y game so bad that there was no point in going in to detail. The reviewer should have been more real and said look its a stupid porno wannabe game masked as a mmo; If you want a porn game go somewhere else if you want a mmo game go somewhere else.

You've just described every game on this website. If this offends you, probably time to go somewhere else.
