As long as u pay your internet u dont usually lose it for 30 days. come on. Also u can play offline for 24 hrs before having to connect to the net again. Now i have no issue with always onine as i play mmo's and id ont play alot of single player games that aren't sports related.

the truth is everyone has internet today. U can buy wireless routers pretty cheap and even use a ethernet cable to hook it up so i dont understand the issue with always online. Where sony is winning is the used games and trading games as much as u want vs the one time thing with microsoft

the always online thing to me isn't a big deal the used games and trading games is a bigger issue. Even then with the cloud save and freinds list u can share games with freinds and family via internet. So the biggest win for sony is that there system is 100 dollars cheaper.

In 2007 15% of internet users still had dial-up were you all complaining about how rediculous it was that xbox live wouldnt support dial-up? I am quoting loosely from the article below but still the point is the same learn to keep up with the times people.  The world is changing and games are requiring new levels of connectivity.  Games will eventualy be all digital its only a matter of time so why is it so wrong for a company to embrace and push this.

america is a large continent. The 80% is for North America only, but do not assume that those 80% of US internet users are gamers or own an xbox live service or will own an xbox one. Taking those points into account the % of gamers that are internet users that have an very reliable internet connection and are planning on owning an xbox one is way smaller than that. My guess is less than half of the overall internet user % of the country (since another huge % of them will own pc, ps4, wiiu, etc)

Well the PS4 will have that online community as well.. you just wont be forced to always be a part of it.

Thats an old way of thinking that part online offline was debunc'ed by the failure of online off-line rpg's who could never stand competitve in the market to all online rpgs.  The top games in the world these days are all online consoles are just trying to catch up with it.

My posts are not bashes on PS4, PS4 has all these capabilities.  They are bashes on old school console fanboys unwilling to accept that we are moving towards an all online world.  For christs sakes what are you doing on MMO forums if you can't realize that.

single player gaming (without needing online activation), offline gaming, renting games - but its all speculation how much that matters

To me its all about charter for an internet provider. There are times when the cable goes off and it is down for days on end, once a week when somebody cut a fiber optic cable.   Microsoft saying you have to connect once a day or you system turns to junk.   I am like wow that is nuts.  What happens if your off on vacation and your internet is down and your not there to call your cable company.  You come back to find a brick that don't work.   To me that is just silly.   That is my main complaint.

Then we get to my second complaint, that conetix you have to have it.  Well no I don't want it.

    1) used games 2) free internet as good or as bad as it may be 3) 100$ cheaper and this trivial issue. List probably could go on but xbox is obviously going to lose share in the console market instead of gain. I'm mainly a pc gamer but have had xbox since it came out ... then xbox 360. I wont be buying this time around.

With all that MS has released on this gem of a console system, and the manner in which they presented it, anyone that buys an XBone at this point deserves everything they get... or don't get, for that matter.

The problem isn't just "not having internet" entirely.  It requires 24 hour check in.  Meaning if you didn't log onto the Xbox in 24 hours (as in you didn't play that day) and your internet happens to be down due to an outage or problems with your network you can't play the Xbox that day.  Most people don't play their Xbox everyday, so if their internet happens to be down when they want to play they are SOL till their internet is back up.

If your internet goes down while you are playing it's not a big deal, since you "checked in" earlier, but it's kind of annoying for someone whose internet happens to be down before they want to start playing.  The point is with the PS4 you don't have to worry about this inconvenience.

I have a high end 2013 Samsung tv that does video, voice command, and also gesture commands.  It is doesn't work that great to be honest.  It's unreliable.  Sometimes it gets activated when I'm not trying to activate it or vice versa.  It's just easier and much, much quicker to pick up the remote and do it manually.

Barring cost, a good many people without internet may not want to 'settle' for xbox360 when PS4 is a viable alternative and doesn't necessitate 24 hour internet check in.

My third thought on it, and I've said this before, I don't want a camera sensitive enough to monitor my heart rate staring at me on my couch and wired to the internet.  I work in a hospital and we don't even have equipment that sensitive, so that just blows me away.  I have the same reticence regarding a microphone.  Of course, they say you can turn it off software side.  But the former director of the NSA said yesterday on the news they can remotely listen to conversations you are having through your phone....even if it is turned off !  So yeah, why would the government be listening in on me, I'm boring.  They aren't going too.  But that doesn't mean some hacker can't do it.  Therefore it becomes the principle of the thing.

Now back to my tv.  I covered the camera.  The microphone is still there but I turned it off.  But what can you do in this era of ubiquitous tech.  I have my phone with me at all times.  I guess we do the best we can and decide individually where we are comfortable drawing the line.

I will be going PS4 100%.  The reason is, yes I could just unplug the XBone when I'm not using it and bypass my paranoia, but the 24 hour check in thing is a hassle.  With PS4 I don't have to deal with that.  And it doesn't come with a camera...not sure about microphone...but that is something I don't have to worry about working around.

PS4 is really looking good, which is sad because I was an xbox guy last two gens, even though I did own a ps1.

I had no internet last year for 8 weeks after moving house, so instead of playing my MMO's I played on my 360. MS will now remove that capability on the next gen. That puts me firmly in the "I don't care if it can cook three meals a day and gives me blowjobs to boot, I ain't getting one" camp.

if i cannot play a single player game offline because the console is not capable of doing that, i will not own that console. That is not a reason to accept the "all online world" you mention. That is a step backwards in technology. The new console is powerful enough to handle both features, why take away offline capabilities when you can have both?. Clearly Xbox one isnt capable of that. Microsoft is taking the Watch Dogs idea too seriously with the all connected world... they forget this is the real life.

Consoles are actually really expencive to make and there's little to none profit for them when manufacturing hardware. Main profits come out from royality and xbox live - which won't be much if gamers decide to buy PS4 instead of XBOX one.

PS4 will be kick ass this next 10 years, mark my words, Microsoft last gaming machine, they wont make a nex one as this will cost them BILLIONS of dollars they wont see back.

And the whole world is laughing as Sony proves that it hasnt got to be that way and in the proces is making DOUBLE or Tripple profit.

    Good Game Sony <3

It shouldn't make you happier, this will result in a lot less users on Xbox One, which will result in less exclusives and less games.

Xbox One won't launch in Japan at all and will not launch in Asia until a year later. That means no big titles from Japan.

If you want a lot of game choices, you need a console with a big userbase and for whatever reason, Microsoft is doing a good job making sure they have no users.

This is pure stupidity.  First of all the U.S. is a much larger market then japan so Japanese companies will release for it regardless of if it ever comes out there.  These are business not patriotic entities.

Second if you read my other posts you'd realize that there really is no reasonable argument that any sizable portion of gamers don't have the ability to connect to the internet with their Xbox one.

And finally this isn't a criticism of ps4 it is a criticism of console fans like yourself who wont embrace the online nature of games today, those people would not make for a good community on xboxone Anyways so I'm perfectly happy not to have them at all.

If you are an old school gamer and don't want to embrace the new online centric world that gaming has become that's fine, but you should realize that its no different than the people complaining when xbox and ps first came out that stuck to their old  cartridge based N64.

Nah I just couldn't resist mentioning the previous Xbox colossal blunder. I actually enjoyed the fact that Sony backed the correct movie distribution format that time.

I've known about Don Mattrick for many years. He's a local boy to me (Distinctive Software which became EA North) My ex even dated him when she was in HS lol... he learned arrogance from the best at EA as he rose through the ranks. He's a good fit for MS.

This quote is the console equivalent of the infamous "Let them eat cake!"... nice :)

Sadly, I have to agree. All they need to do is advertise the next iteration of HALO as an XBone exclusive and the HALO fans will gobble those systems up faster than MS can produce them. It's testament to the greatness of a title, when people are willing to spend a half a grand on hardware just to play it.

Microsoft has been nothing but cold, callous, and rude to their core gamer customer base since the reveal of the XBone.  They have every right to pursue a new market strategy and it may be a brilliant one at that, but they've done nothing but alienate the key folks that would have been the earliest adopters of their new hardware.  They may want to be your one stop set top tv box, but the folks that already know XBox are gamers.  It will take time to gain market share with television viewers, soccer moms, etc.

I'm no fanboy of any company.  I'm going to go where I feel like I get the most value for my dollars spent.  I'm a core PC gamer but I also like platforms to access certain exclusive titles.  At one point I was huge into Nintendo, then Sony, then Xbox, and this gen I'm drifting back to Sony.  Personally they appear to have a bigger focus on games (which is about the only thing I use my console for), listen to their core audience, welcome indie development, support F2P, are willing to take risks with creative titles (Heavy Rain OMG!), etc.  Altogether easy decision to make.

Peoples in total denial who THINK they know better than the consumer himself.   What can be more wrong than telling the consumer what they want instead of listening to them.  Some peoples are gonna lose their jobs at M$ when they start selling this POS console that nobody wants.

I have said this afew times on this forum. The Xbox could have a nuclear weapon designed to blow itself up and take you and your family with it. and Xbox fanboys would still say that better because its exclusive.

    Because i can.
