    If you don't play EQ or EQ2, you should be rest assured that they fully know who their largest demographic for income is.  It isn't the PvP crowd ;)  Don't let a vocal minority on these forums worry you.

    Really never played EQ1/2 in their heydays, so will be interesting to see what sort of features they decide to go with.

    Ya, the amount of people on here being negative Nancy's is hilarious.

    But we all know come 2 Aug they're going to be begging for beta keys. :)

    I know I'm excited.  Dave Georgeson and John Smedley think exactly like I do when it comes to game design.  I'm sure the game is going to be a high quality product with lots of fun features.

    Himself, I would think. There are different ways to implement things, as long as it's consistent and fun I don't particularly care how it's structured. From what I'm aware, EQ is traditionally more of a PvE game. I'm expecting something SWGish, tbh.

    I'm past ready for them to let us in to the blackbox. I want an official forum to hopefully cut back on a little of the negativity and those just trolling.

    Let us discuss/argue about stuff that will actually be in the game instead of letting our imaginations and emotions get the better of us. It's great to see all the ideas and opinions, but so much is just mindless chatter with no point.

    I've never been this hyped for a game. Hopefully EQN will deliver a fraction of what we are expecting and turn out to be an amazing game to enjoy for a long long time.

    I really hope the majority of the EQN panels are streamed or some high quality video is taken from gaming sites. Can't wait to see everything in action.

    I realize I have little to base this on other than extrapolating from past experiences, but IMO a sandbox(y) MMO with a cash shop is going to just plain suck.

    Yes to all, but at the same time, I am accepting of the fact that I may hate it.  They say it is totally new/different and something that has not been done before.

     

    So if it is a continuation of what is being pushed out lately, but taken further, their is a good chance I will not like it.

     

    Until that happens though, I will remain optimistic and hopeful that it will be EQ meets UO, Vanguard redux or atleast something I will like a lot.

    I will happy if EQN will be similar to EQ1, if it will be a GW2 clone, i will not. Frankly i m not very optimistic cause seems that the new players want simple and easy game, where you level your char. very fast, obtain equipment easily, reach your goal alone and so on.

    Happy Happy!!

    Last time I was this excited was for Mortal Online before it came out. After release when I saw it was still in an almost alpha form I was so let down.

    Other games I have been happy happy playing so far are.......

    UO about 2 years.

    The original with lots of fond memories. Not perfect but very fun and so many options.

    Everquest 1 about 5 years. Came back a few times. First person omg so fun and so much content. First game that broke up couples. Evercrack! The high end content got a bit much after Serpents Spine.

    World of Warcraft about 5 years on and off. built on the good. chucked the bad. had lore. Over time got more and more easy with add-ons to the point that there wasn't much free thought about how to do things. max your stats, pound your combos and repeat till you win a prize.

    Rift 1 year. This I think improved on what WoW did. Also started a fresh lore and added several new elements. Loved the graphics not being as cartoony.

    Guildwars 2 about 6 months. Tried to break us of the Trinity system, but felt alot less controlled and more zergy.  Fun character building within it's class systems though.

    Path of Exile 2 months but still fiddling with it from time to time. Great diablo style game. Far better than Diablo 3. Crazy character customization options.

    Neverwinter Online tried it. Maxed out and finished the theme park, Not a huge endgame to this when I tried it. Liked the character controls and  active blocking mechanics of tanking but the cash shop temptation makes it a pay to win.

    EQ Next will hopefully strike an accurate balance between

    old and new, lore reference and fresh beginnings, sandbox and theme park.

    Basically you can polish a bad game all day and the core will still be bad. So I hope the core is solid and fun so that it can be built upon or easily expanded if needed. I am sure this team is still polishing and this usually continues with most games for at least a few months or more past launch.

    Me but I admit concept art brought down my excitement slightly.  But I'm still very excited.

    sorry, but your comment is a joke.

     

    having one skillbar was the worst thing we had lately. if you think mmos should be reduced to 8 active skills, you should concider playing on consoles.

    VERY Excited for this game, but keeping far enough way that if it turns out to be sh*t I can duck around a corner before it hits the fan.

    I really hope it proves to be everything Smedley says it is an more.  I want to feel the excitement again and the strong addiction to play hours and hours without a care for the outside world. Haven't had this feeling for some time(Eq2@launch time).

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

    I hope it's everything we hope it will be and MOAR! I hope it blows everything away and sets the new standard of mmos for the next 10 years. I would love to hear from then on "just another EQN clone...".

     

    Worst probable scenario is that it's a ok game which I'll probably play for about a year.

    having one skillbar was the worst thing we had lately. if you think mmos should be reduced to 8 active skills, you should concider playing on consoles.

    Even GW2 had 22-30 (depending on class) active abilities that needed to be used in combat.  Tera had about the same. (think mostly high 20s)

    The most minimalistic game so far has been Neverwinter, and that has 12.

    The key is to make many the skills have unique and specialized uses and put an emphasis on using the right ones at the right time in the right situations along with action elements (aiming, jumping, dodging, blocking, etc).  This way the combat feels more like combat and less like working on an assembly line in a factory (1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4).

    The days have having 8 rows of hotbars filled up with spells and skills are pretty much gone.

    Sadly yes,For some of us the days of MMORPG are long dead.

    Edit: And if you press 1234 over and over in EQ2 you must truley suck as a player.I don't use keys apart from movement in EQ2 and never use macros.Also its 4-5 hotbars for combat,others are for buffs and fluff,mounts et cetera NOT during combat.

    1 hotbar MMO 'Action' combat is for lesser skilled players.

    Yes, I am excited. I had a lot of fun in EQ2. I'm not worried about what features are or aren't in the game yet. I'm holding off judgement until the NDA is lifted, and more importantly, until I get to play and decide for myself.
