I dont need to know, everything that they've announced sounds amazing. IMO!
I liked most of what was shown but have my concerns but....If you don't want to know other people's opinion...don't read them or come to public forums?
I was just wondering why people are complaining about a product that was just announced? i didn't ask what they're complaining about.
Because people are allowed to form positive and negative opinions on what is shown.I don't agree with most of them personally but they are free to express their opinions.
Then again I don't agree with being too positive either,I liked the core concepts as described....but I liked the descriptions of GW2 core concepts too...I just didn't like the final execution of them over time.
True, if everyone loved something then it would be perfect (and nothing's perfect) but i dont understand all the hate towards a game that was annouced 10 hours ago.
That's even simpler...there are a few crowds that are bitter now
The Everquest purist crowd that wanted EQ with newer graphics
The Eve with a Everquest skin crowd
The we want realistic graphics more than any other features crowd.
Most of these folks built this image if what EQN would be built on personal preference and no actual information so are now angry and bitter that it wasn't what they convinced themselves it was.
I think you hit that nail right on the head Drakynn.
But Im also with velmax. So because it didnt fit people expectations does that mean its a bad game?
Im mean its sure as hell not what I expected, and there are some features that I dont like. But Im not going to judge it crap from either of those expectations/disappointments.
I can see a lot of potential in the features they did show. And if they can follow thru and deliver what they said, its a game I really cant wait to play.
I'm just curious, and I think velmax is too, why cant people see past their disappointment.

"I don't want GW2 built on these great ideas. I want EQ built on these great ideas. "
There is no question SOE has some big ideas. I even think they have a fair chance of realizing those big ideas. But if the game built on top of those big ideas isn't fun to that player then it doesn't matter.
Its still early and things are likely going to change. But if the core game is spamming the same three attacks causing your cartoony avatar to spin and jump all over the screen then the game isn't for me. Further it isn't for most EQ and EQ2 fans. Right now the first impression is that this is GW2 Next rather then EQ Next. Until they show people something that fixes that impression people are going to be rightfully concerned.
Well they did announce that everyone can play all 40 classes, that will have 4 abilities ,with 2 weapons per class.
What does that have to do with anything that I said.
The bottom line is if they demoed the game without the destructible terrain, dynamic AI, etc we would have all thought we were watching Wild Star or GW2 and most EQ fans wouldn't have made it past the first video.
This game didn't look like an EQ game. It didn't look like it played like an EQ game. I don't care how shiny some of the other features are. That is a critical failure to a game called EQ Next.
But as I said, there is lots of time to change things and there is still lots more to see. So maybe impressions change down the road (though in my long history of following MMOs rarely does one deviate that much from the first impression - at least in a good way).
Stop replying to every thread telling people they should be happy. You asked why people are complaining and they answered you. People jumping to conclusions that they don't like the game is no more wrong then you jumping to conclusions that the game rocks.
Personally I am taking a wait and see approach. But I can honesty say I am less hyped about the game today then I was yesterday. I can also tell you my EQ friends are in the same boat. I think more will join us once the sheen of the new features rubs off. I will save you a spot.
SOE has some damage control to do if they want to get back the EQ fans.

Thats what it has to do with what u said. NO u wont be spamming the same three abilities.

Sorry that i cant be nice.
You can get lots of different skills in GW2 as well. But you spam the same ones over and over again and for many of us it is boring 10 hours in. Watch the game play video of EQN. The warrior does the same thing over and over again. As does the mage.
If you can't admit that the game play looked closer to GW2 then EQ or EQ2 then either you haven't played the games, haven't watched the GP videos, or you are so caught up in fan boy fantasy land that you refuse to see the truth. If you can admit it then acknowledge why fans hoping for an EQ game are upset on the first impression. Again, building GWN isn't what most of us want despite the cool ideas it is built on.
This happens with every single MMO. The fan base identifies areas that are clearly an issue. The fan boys jump in and tell us it is only 10-hours post announcement. Then it is only Alpha. Then it is only Beta. Then after it is released and the flaws are still there the fan boys turn villian and start typing 400 word essays on why they are leaving the game.
Also, keep this in mind. I hope that SOE proves the naysayers wrong. BUT IF THE NAYSAYERS DON'T EXPRESS THEIR CONCERNS THEN SOE CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
Complaining is a good thing. It is how the community expresses themselves to the developers.
What is it with this "cartoony = longevity" argument.
WoW looks like it was made in the 70s.
it looks better then EQ2 which was launched the same year.
lol this is so biased you intentianaly picked the worst pic you could find of WoW, a guy half naked with a blue background.
This is a little more fair
You obviously don't read very well. Your gay dancing mexican panda and stick figure with elongated ears weren't part of RELEASE... but in any case the panda really doesn't help whatever cause you're trying to help with it >.>

I don't think they ever really wanted EQ fans. Didn't they say they didn't want to "cannibalize" their EQ base?

I'll still take EQ2
lol

LOL, what a euphemism that was.
All I here is people complaining about graphics.
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
Player housing is instanced somehow.
Your personal house won't be whirlwinded.
Nice try though.
On a side note, thanks to all the people who told me I was full of crap with my predictions.
Look who was spot on with all of it.
Even has horizontal progression and is not a PVP-oriented game (Though like I said, it will have pvp servers). GG.
I love being right.
