I got banned from the beta because i made a joke.

Basically, the gay community of FF14 made YET ANOTHER thread asking for same-sex marriage.

The thread was met with a lot of critique and humor, not because of the contents of the request, which are fair, but because they just keep making this "include gay features" threads every single week.

And just like it happened in the few last threads, people just ended up making light jokes about it and simply shrugging their shoulders at the constant gay threads ( right now there is TWO in the  first page)

I myself posted the following:

 

16 pages and not a single user posted the usual Final Fagtasy pun?

What´s going on in this community?

Anyway, i do not have any issue with anyone being able to marry whom they damn please, it is NOT my business and if it makes them happy, i will applaud it.

After all, why would anyone feel bothered by the fact two players that are not even in his circle of friends have married on a game?

Just let people have fun xD

 

 

And this message got me banned from the beta.

It may not be the most sensitive joke ever, it may even have been childish by my part, but getting banned out of it?

It's the word you used . Nowadays a word is it ,that southern tv cook personality used a word too and got blacklisted. Careful what you write in future.

 

Oddly enough my uncle who studied in England used it to mean a cigarette .

 

Typing isn't like talking you're in perfect control and can edit so there is not an excuse to use words that are considered bannable I guess.

Honestly I don't see why you would get banned for that. Perhaps it happened to everyone in that forum thread? Who knows.. It is important to mind your words these days though. Some kid in a city a few hours from me got thrown in jail for saying something bad in another game. Granted what he said was about a million times worse than what you said.. but even jokes (as bad as they might be) can get you in serious trouble.

Hmm.. They banned you for using a anti-gay slur? I guess their moderators are on the ball. It would have violated the terms for sure. 

I have participated in the beta and I found the game somewhat underwhelming myself. It definitely appeals to the FF crowd but in order to sustain revenue, I see F2P in the future. 

I really think the sub based model is going to be a thing of the past. There is just to much opportunity for increased revenue to pass up.

I can never forget that one time in my 3rd day in London where a guy stops me and says " hey mate, you know where I can get a fag" and I was just shocked looking at him and asking him to repeat it few times until he said " Like this fag" pointing at me. I was furious for a second until I noticed he was pointing at my cig lol.

How did I know someone would have to comment on how the game isn't good enough and will go f2p.

I'm honestly surprised no one has brought up gw2 yet and complained about that game for some reason.

The funny thing is, that right after that joke i actually support the thread and support gay people and their rights to enjoy all the features in the game, so it´s obvious i had no ill will with it.

Don't feel bad, I got banned (an still currently am) for 10days after stating.

"F*ck legacy titles, as long as there are sweet pricing plans (12months) and deals with them" 

Got an aggressive language and dividing the community.... In a flame thread about how "non legacy's complain so legacies should get to as well"

while i certainly sympathize that you have found yourself in this predicament you cannot bless gay marriage on the one hand and make a 'fag' joke on the side.

 

in NA English it is a deprecatory word used as an insult and in direct reference to homosexuals, ie., being homosexual is an insult.

i can honestly say that straight people should really keep their opinion to themselves about lgbt issues unless it's full blown support

 

 

human rights are really no joke, its not a joke how much people have to fight to get equality, how much people have to go against the grain and bother people with threads every week just to be able to marry each other in a stupid game let alone in reality, and considering that we are not yet considered equals in many states the word "fag" can bring up issues with more sensitive people or people that are simply tired or the bullshit they have to face daily instead of being supported on such a simple issues as gay rights

I agree 100% with the ban.  You were just hoping to get that joke swept under the rug and ignored because of your pandering to the gay audience later on in your post.  You knew this could happen though, and were well aware that you were on an official forum with heavy monitoring.  I really hope you don't feel like an injustice was done to you.

To be honest, what bothers me the most is not the ban itself, but  the feeling that there is a double standard when it comes to homosexuality, as if making light of it was any worse than making light of any other topic.

I can´t shake the feeling that, if i had made a joke about any other topic, i would not have been sanctioned.

and gays should stay out of straight people's lives, churches, and whatever other nonsense I can think of... unless its Full blown support.... see how stupid that sounded lol

is this a joke dude? why should straight people have to keep there opinions to themselves? you are truly blind in your gay ways to think this.  this is the real world get over yourself and just deal with it.  I feel this guy shouldnt have gotten banned myself.

I made the joke because i had a childish "lol fag and fantasy fit" humor moment and i supported gay marriage ingame because i frankly do not see a reason for gay people not to be able to enjoy all the game features.

Sure, the joke was stupid, but your theory is downright ridiculous.
