I refuse to use ProsiebenSat 1 to be able to play EQNext. I have endured enough misery with them with DCUniverse Online.
Thanks, but no thanks.
I just wanted to post saying that my interest in game increased because of action combat, colorful graphics,no classes and a large world when I saw your comment.SOE forcing European players to use prosieben means I will not play it.
Originally posted by Dihoru I can say with a fair degree of accuracy that 31.4% of people will enjoy this game for what it is, the other 68.6% will have a bit of heartache due to the game.
Nah, the ppl who post on mmorpg belong to a vocal minority. If soe can reach the ps4 masses they will have larger player base than most other mmorpgs today (maybe excluding wow)
Decreased, I don't believe that they have a working combat system that doesn't revolve around DPS.
When you remove tank, healers and pullers, and likely CC since they're non-tab, all you're left with is DPS.
To support a community and grouping you need clearly defined roles, removing trinity and replacing it with multiclassing does the reverse.
Trinity combat creates elitists, not community.
Non combat roles create community. Communities form from mutual interest in creation. Mutual interests in destruction creates teams of d-bags that advocate for themselves instead of the world (game world).
Developers artificially nerf and empower different roles in trinity games anyway. Have people not realized that making your class not suck anymore isn't content worth waiting for? Or developers ruining your class with a nerf? People still falling for that?
That's how gamers get ripped off, not how they form a community. Creation forms community. Addiction simply need company. there is a difference. Which one do you really want? a real community or company for your misery?
No, the trinity creates structure such that strategies become important.
No Trinity = No Structure = No strategy = Zerg
Really?! Well how is that GW2 community holding up.
Logs into GW2, crickets... crickets....
Well at least you have lots of bug friends.
90% of sucking is player oriented. The game is usually pretty balanced for the most part, especially for normal raidiers. If you can't beat a boss, then replacing a good DK with an equally good Mage probably won't make much difference.
Community is company.

"Weaponized abilities" as we call it in the gaming industry is lackluster at best, at least in my mind.
I was hoping for more of a branching-out tree of abilities rather then a few class specific abilities that improve over time and your main weapon abilities that are static from 1 to X.
"Weaponized abilities" as we call it in the gaming industry is lackluster at best, at least in my mind.
I was hoping for more of a branching-out tree of abilities rather then a few class specific abilities that improve over time and your main weapon abilities that are static from 1 to X.
Why do people speak before doing the research?
Each class will have different abilities they can learn and choose from for their load out. So there are more than 4 class-skills for each class. Even if you have a one class character, there will still be deck building and different tools to swap out to adapt to different situations.
Next, the weapon abilities are not static. They are dependent on the weapon and the weapon's mod. A warrior with a greatsword+mod1 will have different skills than a warrior with greatsword+mod2.
And weaponized abilities, as I call it in my industry, is called common sense. You don't shoot with a sword, you don't do slow, wide swinging attacks with a dagger.
Having different skills tied to different weapons makes perfect sense, and adds to the character customization in the game.
In games' wanting to dumb down games to hopefully make less customer service tickets or less "builds" what they do is, they cut out that learning time, that grieving time and basically that essential connection of wanting to know/learn the game.
What we are left with, an in your face arcade game, what you see is what you get and there's little to nothing to learn and understand and you get rid of any sort of learning curve.
Well, inquisitive minds will be at play and will be realizing how easy it is to come by certain things such as abilities or gear or whatnot and they may feel "robbed" or "robbing the game" when they do or don't get something.
It's because of the human condition and the human mind rationalizing. Such as do I really get to kill the boss when all I did was hit the #1 button and twice I hit the Elite-over-the-top class button, #2? Or, "damn, we only get a lackluster belt for killing mean looking boss of darkness?"
With less stuff in game to keep our mind(s) occupied, our minds will be ... well, looking already for that next game or game title.

There are far more than 1 way to win any encounter with the trinity. The fact you would even say this proves you have never been a member of a real raiding guild.
Without the trinity there is one way, ZERG!
GW2 is a ghost town.
Most successful? Initial sales did ok, but they are losing players fast due to no endgame.
The patches are trivial junk is easy and cheap to make. I guess you can call that healthy...

There are roles. Some skills will be CC oriented. Some skills will heal. Some skills will defend. Some skills will bring utility/support. Some skills will damage.
A successful group will utilize a mix of these skills for their role in a group.
The only difference is that players need not be turned away from a group because they're not the "right class".
Also, there will be OW PVP, on PVP servers. If you don't like OW PVP, there will be blue servers.

I'd love to hear you tell that to the group of 1 enchanter, 1 mage and 4 rangers that I was a part of in Cazic Thule in EQ1 before it was rennovated. We were there for hours, without a death, having a blast. And unless we have drastically different definitions of a trinity, EQ1 was totally about the trinity.
A more free flowing system creates more strategies and less community segregation.
It also produces a system where every character can do everything (the tank-mage syndrome). And since everyone can do everything, there is no inherent inter-character dependency, so the game is more likely to have less of a community, and whatever community that does form is likely to be less stable and more prone to fragmenting. A free-flowing system does not produce any more strategies, since there are no specialists, and groups are for convenience only, since everyone in the group is essentially fighting solo.
GW2 is also the healthiest and most successful western MMO outside of WoW. Pay attention please.
This argument is akin to saying that Joe deRita was the best 6th Stooge ever. (He was also the only 6th Stooge). GW2 is merely the most recent 'western' MMO and flavor of the month. Discounting the 'eastern' MMOs and the Asian market is a great way for a company to limit its revenue.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

GW2 has sold close to 3 million copies before* entering the Chinese market. Each quarter earnings report from NCsoft has shown record numbers for the company, and growing.

GW2 is losing revenue every month.
It won't take long before the cash shop and future box sales plummit to near zero.
After box sales(which get ncsoft revenue to skyhigh in Q4 2012), in Q1 2013, GW2 revenue to NCsoft became 21% of the total, while the stabilized Lineage 1 represents almost 40% of NCsoft revenue and its a subscription game with 900k players.
The Q1 2013 revenue of GW2 is the equivalent of a 450k players subscription mmo. Keep in mind that that revenue % is suposed to go even lower in Q2, because players wont spend like they did in the first months and because there is no atractive to keep players in the game (besides their core player base that fell in love with the game).
You say there are roles but it is too much like GW 2 so my interest has really gone down a lot. Looking at other games now. Not interested in the GW 2 gameplay.

Right, and what is the projected earnings from entering the chinese market? Almost double.
It's so sad that in today's world, when a game sells 3 million boxes, and is looking to sell 3 million more in another market, that people have the nerve to call the game a failure. You have to run to quarterly cash shop earnings a year after release on a B2P game try and claim the MMO is failing. What a joke. You dare call me a "hopeful"? Sorry but from the way you're acting I would bet you've never shipped a single game, or even have a formal education in the field.
Revenue equal to a 450k subscribers, from cash shop revenue on a B2P game a year after launch is great, that easily translates to over a million active players or more (because we know that not even half of the players in a B2P model are spending cash shop money).
Now, look at the list on this site, ALL the mmos on it that have launched over the last 10 years.
Show me some that have done better in a western market.
I challenge you to do so.
Oh, but you can't. Because I am educated on the subject, and you are not. Zing.

Lol, cute kiddy troll reply.
Thinks you need a college degree in gaming, lol

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
Must be nice to live in that fantasy world of yourself, the one in your head.
Not sure how one person could be as wrong as you and not notice it. lol.
If you need to rely on misinformation, then you've already lost, kid.
GW2 has sold close to 3 million copies before* entering the Chinese market. Each quarter earnings report from NCsoft has shown record numbers for the company, and growing.
Believe what you want though lol. Facts are on my side.

No coordination, everyone doing whatever, and almost everyone focusing on dmg.

Here you go kid,

Troll less, educate yourself more.
Yea, "hopefuls" get one single piece of information and they run their lives with it. Thanks for the link! I was googling for it right now LOL.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
Zing.
