There is an issue at lower levels that some classes that can heal can't queue as healer. Some of the early stuff you can do without a tank or with people with secondary heals.

Pre-release & release buzz, it'll quickly fade within the next month or two :)

I already sense a ~50% drop in players after the free month is up.

http://neocron-game.com/ - now totally F2P no cash-shops or micro transactions at all.

Edit:  That is what I get for not looking at the date of the original post.  My bad.

This is something I'd like above all else to be fixed.

I can see the duty finder arranging groups like that, but if I want to walk my manually made group of 4 arcanists into Tam Tara or something it should let me.

If you manually make a group, you can walk up to the dungeon and go in as is, tanked a satasha yesterday with an arcanist as healer, was a bit rough as a Maurader, but we won, I also play cnj and the heals weren't as potent as mine when I do play it.

I actually do see a lot of people making groups on gilgamesh though, I join up to help out the community and  get to know people a little better, or if I feel sorry for some dps class seeking for a while I'll invite them to ride the cnj gravy train que.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has managed to smash the previous record of concurrent users for an open beta.

The record was initially broken yesterday, when Director Yoshida tweeted that the servers were undergoing some serious stress due to there being 120,000 concurrent users. Because of this, Square Enix has had to add two additional servers in Japan. These two servers are called Typhon and Ultima.

However, less than 24 hours later, Square Enix had to update fans by stating that they had broken the record again - this time by having 150,000 concurrent users.

Despite this huge influx of users, apparently not too many people are interested in playing tanks. In another tweet, Yoshida appealed to gamers to play some more of the supporting roles in order to help balance the experience. There are apparently not enough Marauders or Gladiators in Eorzea.

The previous record for concurrent users in an open beta was held by Phantasy Star Online 2. This saw 107,259 players online at the same time on the 24th of July.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn releases on both the PlayStation 3 and PC in a few weeks. There's also a version planned for the PS4, which will appear at a later date.

Nothing to see here, all games have a high user count the first month.

Sure after a month or two some people will leave but I agree this game is really fun.

SE slides on a technicality though, as GW2 never had an "open" beta.

SquareEnix is actually pretty clear on this: in their own press release, they properly define the record as highest number of concurrent players in an online game from a japanese company.

The last bit is pretty relevant, but apparently too long for gaming blog headlines or thread titles.

To be fair, we also have to consider there has been and still is a considerable void of AAA MMO title launches. There is nothing coming out this year (looks like ArcheAge will also miss the 2013 mark) and nothing has come out in the last 6 months.
