MMORG users give FFXIV: ARR a 6.2

Syno23Syno23 Member UncommonPosts: 1,360

Perhaps people were upset about the launch, or maybe they just didn't like the game. But it doesn't make sense for a game that was an 8.26 get bumped all the way down to a 6.2. That's just messed up to tell you the truth.

The game is solid guys, VOTE IT UP!

Seems like ratings carried over from the 1.0 launch.  That official 5.1 review is way out of date.  Once release happens, the hype meter goes away and it activates the review section.  I doubt they cleared old reviews.

Whatever...not like this site has any sort of serious columnist anyway.

No.  If the game has a rating of 6.2 due to how it's being handled, then that's what it deserves.

That's what happens when you allow AFK players grief and ENTIRE set of servers.

It's a great car! Drives great, very comfortable, and runs smooth.

    When it runs.

Love turn hate. The game is very good but very bad servers. I can understand how frustrating is it when you cannot enjoy a new mmo without interruption.

I would venture a guess that there are more players that can't play giving poor ratings. As opposed to those that can play, not giving ratings since they are playing.

I think 6.2 is about right in it's current state. It certainly doesn't deserve an 8.26. From my experience with the game, i'd rate it a 7.5.. it does a lot of things well and is a lot of fun and certainly has many strong points but it doesn't really do much to progress the MMO genre forward or stand out as a must play game for all MMO fans which I'd expect from an 8.26 rated game.  With them really screwing the server logins and character creation, deserves a loss of at least 1 from the rating probably more if you're one of the unlucky ones trying to join friends/guildies on a locked server and haven't got a clue when you'll be able to.

D3 has a metacritic score of 3.8! It used to be lower when the game first came out.

A score that low is typically reserved for game that are so riddled with bugs that when you input a command you get punched in the nuts.

But people these days rate based on emotion instead of assessment, so take FFARR's score to be more of a barometer of how happy/upset people were with it at a given point in time. Not so much whether or not it deserves any given score.

this site has the most useless, most abused, and least stable rating system of any website ive ever seen.

Im not saying this game is a 10 or anything, but it certainly has more hype that a lot of the dead games above it...hell they still have a few canceled games on the list above it.

Anyway, seems the goal of this site is to keep GW2 on top followed by TSW no matter what.  When users seem to vote differently than that and the two games (assuming they paid for top listing) stray from the top, mmorpg resets all the scores.

My guess is that they reset this game score back to what it was for the first game.

They really should have done away with their hype meter years ago.  What they should do now is rank games based on forum traffic, like they do at the top of the list...however I have noticed traffic weighting for that as well.... a certain game gets one or two posts and bam its on top, another game...you can have 20 people posting there all day and it wont make the top list.

Ahh well, if anyone thought this site wasn't about the money...lol

    It is funny.

Obvious rating from previous release are obvious.

Not being able to rate is obvious.

I wonder if ratings from EQ carried over to EQ2...

That makes no sense. The case here is that the same game released twice and still has the old ratings in the database. They just forgot to wipe it.

Oh, I thought this was a complete re-write while using many of the original assets. My bad.

Well, not entirely true, they do measure volatility due to short-term manipulation pretty well.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

And can be used to judge how fickle the community is.

1 week a game can be the savior of the genre and the next, well...........

Guys, you can't rate it yet. It's the 1.0 user rating.

If servers don't work it should get a bad score. Without the servers the game isn't much of an game. If I buy a computer that doesn't work when I buy it and I can't use it for a couple of weeks, sure I might love the computer when it starts to work but I would never buy a computer from that company again and I would never recommend it either.

Oddly enough, I feel it belongs there... well a bit higher but around there. Though again to my ratings system, a lot other MMOs would be bumped down a lot further as well getting lots of 6s and 7s with a very rare few getting perhaps 8s. I'm a stickler to scores, I know. :)

Still, its score is a bit rediculous low. Granted it does have the issues (which ARE bad, though there has been worst) a lot of the issues look to be mostly resolved and its working over-all decent after the few days of horridness.

    ^That matters SO little.

I really am tired of hearing this comment. A game doesn't have to do everything different or new to TO BE ENJOYABLE!

I am not a Final Fantasy fan.

I am tired of hearing that shortsighted reasoning.
