What annoys me about fates is the way getting exp from the mobs work. I'm encouraged to just tag everything no one has touched yet exactly once and concentrating only on that and running out to be first to touch any new mobs as they spawn.
Actually killing mobs results in less exp. ALOT less exp.
This is what happens when a new game is released.....every.....single.....time. If you make any sort of criticism about any feature in the game, you will be shunned and exiled from the community. I'm currently in that level range 43 right now and I find this to probably be the most boring leveling this game has to offer. I don't want to level another class, and I'm not "Speed running" to max level. I'm pretty much just not playing and building up rested exp because the game isn't fun to me. But it's ok, we have the SE FFXIV apologists who see nothing wrong with this game. Can't wait to level my 4th class and have to deal with the same boring fate grind.
I don't get this, if the game isnt fun to you why torture yourself and keep on playing? And who is exiling the OP from the community? All they are telling him is if you don't enjoy it, don't do it? All those responses would pertain to your rant as well.
I hate how narrow minded this community has become over the years, and how you label criticism as a "rant". I personally do not enjoy the leveling process, however I do enjoy raiding.
Well, you see, in the original release, the leveling process was gathering an 8 person group and killing stuff over and over. Personally I would prefer that to FATEs, but I assume the majority would not. They created FATEs so that leveling from camping a monster spawn area would not be viable.

Most people go to 20 in early access (very easily), got rested over the next 5 or so days, and just did story quests and fates to 40 or so. It's not that hard and doesn't require much time.
I feel this way in most games. These people get to levels in the game in a couple of days that it takes me MONTHS of playing to do. (shrug) Hit max, this game sucks, quit game. Rinse and repeat. The story is amusing so far.
my other 2 friends got to 50 and got stuck, no pro groups for the primals and relic quests and they just went from fate to fate and level crafting afterward lol.
Now though there are alot of 50s and some already started on Bahamaut binding coil.
I would like to note that I get that you (according to posts I've read from you in the past few days) enjoy this game, and are just frustrated as a whole with a certain issue that you feel the need to complain about them on an outside forum as opposed to the official feedback forum. But this is like the fifth new thread (New thread, not a response to one) you've posted complaining about FATES, and probably the 10th just lashing out at the game and community in as many as two days. Please just use any existing thread (as it is, in my opinion, rude to keep on creating new ones about the same subject as that pushes other, new topics made by others further down).
Though I would like to quote part of an article that I wrote some time ago that may or may not suit the occasion:
"When faced with strife or discontent, the true nature of a man is brought forth. It is then when we see the character of the individual. It is then we are able to tell if he is mature enough to grin and bare it, or subject his fellow man to his complaints and woes."
This is how many gauge the maturity of someone they have never met before (and thus could never know for sure). When used in an example with Video Games, it's the same as what occurred in Tales of Xillia. Jude was only 15 and had a lot of things happen to him that ruined his life, yet he never complained and just went about doing whatever life brought him thereafter with his friends. They all thought him to be incredibly mature for his age, as he dealt a hand he did not like, yet didn't bring the moral of his colleagues down by saying something negative every time they stopped for a rest.
It's a passing note and I don't mean to claim these threads are representative of that or not, but I am starting to get a similar feeling as a personal opinion of mine based on my past experiences, past thoughts and citing a video game (since we are gamers) that show an example of this.
Thanks for your time in reading this.
Well I didn't post on the official forums because back when the game was released I couldn't make a post because it was down. That's the wrong thing to say. XIV was never about one way. The design philosophy of FF14 is, from the ground up, for players who like to do different things within the game. It was built on the premise of leveling multiple things and circulating through different experiences. You guys come in and bullet your way through one path of progression and bitch about how boring the game is. Then get mad when someone else tries to explain how the game is designed to function, as if it's "their way ". It's not their way, it's FF14's way. So the statement still stands. If this is not your way, then don't play the game.

Who are you to say what is and isn't FF14's way? You're basically telling everyone that there is a specific way you should play the game, and if you don't like it shut up and don't play. You and these others are the exact reason why these games die out.
Well sadly the days of creating an enormous game like FFXI are gone.I am not so sure it really matters about the developer anyhow,it is the way gamer's play these games, all they do is try to level really fast.
There is a catch 22 there for sure, everyone looks for the fastest leveling mechanic, then cries when they level up too fast.
Why wouldn't you go around and complete that quest or whatever it is to fill in all mobs needed. Also why not travel around and just kill different stuff for the fun of it?Why is everyone looking to speed level, how is that fun in any way?
Why not go craft for a bit, mine, log heck even take a break. If all you do is spend 8 hours or more straight speed leveling,i guarantee 100% you will get bored and start to whine.I know what else happens to because i see it all the time,if people are sitting around waiting for one mechanic/instance or whatever, they usually get annoying in chat.
Here is a golden rule,if you are bored log off, save some leveling for another day,at 50 cents a day for entertainment,it is cheaper than TV, internet, live sports/ent. ,so your not not losing out on anything if you take a break and do something else in life.
For example,if it wasn't Fates, then it would be something else,b it Book burns or dailies. The other thing i see is gamer's that all they do is raid for the best gear then spam chat with WTS .I do realize this game was just rushed out way too fast,it does not have enough content, but neither does any other game that comes out.Making a game with 3k quests ,is not content, that is just a linear path to hold your hand,CONTENT is ideas that do not revolve around just leveling, however sadly does only revolve around attaining items or gear.
What this game needs is to get their housing and gardening going, which will come and it could use some other ideas like Guild halls and ship/boat building and more exploring only reached through waterways.I could think of tons of ideas, how about cloth crafter's making air balloons to travel to high unreachable places.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I'm taking my time. The fates are there for people who do that. If the Fates weren't there the OP would be complaining about stuff being too slow. This game has something for everybody and they honestly made it fun. Gathering, crafting, story questing, or cap racing. You can do whatever you want.
Outside of the silly translation quirks and walls of text instead of voice acting when I'm actually in the game I'm enjoying.
Not being able to log-in when I'm ready to is what pisses me off the most. Because the game is decent.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"

LOL, no, You have it all backwards. It is you who are trying to say there should be a specific way to play. I am telling you that there are multiple ways to play. But the choice to NOT exercise those options rests solely on you. I am telling you that since you decided to play ONE way, don't bitch about how it turned out.

You see this in every game. People go the most efficient and fastest route to endgame. Then complain about content.
Actually reading the quest text, watching the cut scenes, and letting the story guide you...they do all of that to enhance gameplay. If you hate this...why on earth are you buying games that are built like this? There are lots of sandboxes that desperately need player support and offer just a world, your toon, and some loose goals.
Now no one is forcing you to participate in that. You can go farm mobs non stop to level cap. Who do you think its going to enjoy the game more?
I really wish this plague of racing to endgame would cease. Its no wonder that people who generally hate mmorpgs are the ones who chose the least entertaining way to play it as their only option. Im really curious as to why they even bother playing these games. Most are continually angry at the games they play because of how they play it, and if playing a game in the manner in which the developers created the game to be played isn't fun...you are playing the wrong types of games.
No one can tell you how to play a game, however, people certainly can tell you ways to play the game that are more enjoyable.
I have no sympathy for these people. They made games specifically for these types, its called GW2. You run around and trip over content and don't have to read anything to succeed or enjoy the game. Everything is given to you super early on and all you have to worry about is tripping over stuff in the right direction as you make your way towards a meaningless endgame.
This is a game for the rest of us. People who like RPG games and miss mmorpgs being online versions of RPG games.

It's amazing because you just don't get it. I said specifically, "the most boring leveling". I did not say crafting, I did not say raiding, I did not say exploring, I did not say quest text, I did not say cutscenes, or dungeons, or anything else. I specifically said leveling. To me, leveling is boring, and once you get to 40+ and realize that quest dry up and all there is are FATEs, which are so over farmed that you barely get any exp from, you might start to agree with me. But no, we get people like you, specifically, every single time who decide that every single game has no flaws whatsoever. You prop these companies up on a pedestal and for the first two or so months you shut down anyone who tries to have any sort of conversation about flaws in the game. So apparently because I find one aspect of the game, not fun, I am apparently "playing the game wrong" and should "just quit". But it's fine, you're entitled to your opinion of the game, and I'm entitled to mine, but please in the future try to actually understand where I am coming from rather than throwing out mindless posts.

Umm, OK, now how on earth would I be expected to "get it"? Exactly how is that amazing? You are the one who worded yourself incorrectly. You specifically said "boring leveling" But that is exactly how this game works from every aspect. When you say leveling. It includes all the stuff you "did not say" it was a very safe assumption since again, this is how FF14 is designed differently. As far as fates being over farmed, I'll give you that. But about the fact that you don't get XP, it could be that you are doing it wrong. It's not about tagging mobs. It's about getting on their agro charts. Take a look at what abilities you are using.
As far as being shot down...That's already been stated as to why.
There are always certain people that want to be FIRST to hit level cap and I feel sorry for them. In order to do so you have to skip most of the content - there's no other way.
Also - I haven't heard one mention of the crafting in this game - which is supposed to be the best since SWG. I would love to find out personally but I've never been able to get into game yet - still waiting for that elusive spot to open up.
I have no sympathy for these types of players who get to level cap and cry "there's nothing for me to do". Perhaps a developer should just create a game with 100K + levels and just enough content for those players who want to grind levels since they don't care anyway.
Currently trying to play Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn
There are tons of folks in the 40+ areas right now. I've given up on fates unless I happen to be standing in one when it pops or riding through it anyway.
40, 50 and 60 people mobs (they call then groups..I don't see much group) just spamming away. They'll sit into town until they see one pop, get on the chocos and charge over.
People on my server were asking people to put away the birds because 100+ ppl as well as a boatload of birds was making the whole fate 'group' more confusing (and you really don't need the birds with 40 or 50 ppl spamming AoEs on a handful of mobs)
I am currently lvl 45, and with doing the story missions and the dungeons at the apropriate levels Im still levelling mainly through quests, and hunting log. I have not once run out of quests. Currently I have atleast 5 quests - not leves - waiting once I finish the grand company dungeon quest. Once the mainstory line quest from lvl 44 is done, it will lead me by the hand to yet another quest hub and open alot of new quests. - That is how the system works. - You do not run out of quests. If you have, you have skipped the mainstoryline somewhere, or you have completely ignored the hunting logs, which are quests in themselves - just pure kill quests. - As I have still to do the trial mission from the storyline which is lvl 44, I am actually behind on the quests, and the ones I already have, will be a drop in the bucket from all those that unlock after the storymission.
If people stand in town and do Fates, thats certainly a method to level, but it is not because it cant be done on questing. Anyone who claims that, has failed at the basics of levelling in A realm reborn.
I've made a post on the officlal forums to voice my opinion so that FATE's can hopefully be adjusted/nerfed so they aren't so ridiculously rewarding and cheap, as someone else suggested I do. Take a look:

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Favorite MMO: Vanilla WoW
Currently playing: GW2, EVE
Excited for: Wildstar, maybe?
