I had been playing for over a year and was getting tired or better board with the grinding mill, it just seem to much like work instead of play but when the CU (Combat Upgrade) came out it compounded the grinding mill to even grater levels of hours of mind less whacking at some NPC creatures just to make a few points.

If you don’t mind a huge grinding system then it can be fun.  I just felt that even with different professions it was still the same thing (Grind out something to get a box to grind out something to get another box) just with a different flavor.

Here was a typical day for me working on my profession.  Got get a mission go out into the wilderness find the spawn point attack the NPC creature, hit F1 key whack , hit F1 key whack, hit F1 key whack and so on NPC dies go to next creature and hit F1 key whack, hit F1 key whack and so on NPC dies and so on till all the creatures are dead then attack the nest Whack Whack till its destroyed look at the 300 points you just got fill ok look at the 1 million you will need to level and fill not so good, got get another mission do it all over again.

The space game was fun at first till I understood it was just the pretty much the same get a mission go out kill NPC ships go back get the mission again and do its again and again.  I just got tired of it.  It was fun for a while but SOE and there customer service attitude toward players has really hit an all time low and I am just burned out on grinding.

So it was not any fun any more so i quit and found this website so i could find another online game to play. I big thing was I just got tired of working so much in what was sup to be a game.

I can respect what your saying but can I ask why all your focus has to be on getting as much skill as soon as possible? Master professions were taken for granted before the CU, anyone could get one in about 2 weeks if they applied themselves. Now they have to be earned, and ya, its gonna be hard, it will atleast make you feel like the word "Master" in front of your profession has some worth. But you seem (and this is just my observation, it could be wrong) that you feel you have to sit and mindlessly grind til you get Mastery and there are no other aspects of the game to do in between the "leveling" to have fun. You don't have to sit there and mindless bore yourself with mission after mission after mission. That will always lead to MMO burn out.

    Just my 2 cents.

No doubt you’re right for I am an example of that very thing.  MMO burn out

Sadly I found that if you did not have a master in at less one of the basic professions and mid rang in one of the elite ones you where very limited in what you could do and there for what there was to do.

Example:  I mean you cant really craft all that much as a novice artisan, and there are very, very few quest you can do if your not at less a master on one of the basic combat professions oh yes you can start it but your find yourself In the cloning bin more times than Bobos dad did.  So yep you have to grind up to something just to be able to do all the other “fun” stuff.

Also my problem is that I have very limited time to play an hour for me is great any more than that and I must be dreaming.  The games fun in some ways don’t get me wrong I’m not going to just blast away and say that it totally sucks and anyone playing it is “Stupid”. No it can be fun I just got burned out with the grinding, Bugs and SOE’s attitude of I’ll do what I want I don’t care what your peon’s (customers) think or want.

I say try it but it has a very large time investment price to have any real fun.

Well, again I understand what your saying, but you do need to keep in mind everyone has gone from immortality in the game for the most part to actually being the little guy in the beginning. Thats a pretty huge change to sink into. For a long while your gonna feel like you can't do anything because before you could do anything at all...

But I surely wouldn't blame anyone for leaving over that change. Whatever is fun to you is fun to you, and it is a game, you shouldn't stay with it if your not having fun.

Server isn't full... it was one of the newer ones but there is a stable population and people are having a lot of fun now that they're getting used to the changes (just a clue: Few people LIKE change... it's human nature to dislike change).

    Errr...
    1) Sounds like you haven't learned how to set autoattack or how to properly utilize your special attacks that both shorten fights and are fun (especially knockdowns).

    2) Solo still works fine you just can't go up to the lair and take on 20 critters at once. Before with 'god buffs' you could go up to just about anything in the game and mow it down. All it took was time. Now you have to actually think about how to plan your attack so that you don't get more than 1 or 2 enemies on you if they're near or above your skill abilities to handle (CL)

    3) Grouping is, by far, the best way to go. Because not only do you get double the normal XP you also get grouping bonuses to XP. Mobs drop faster and the double XP on top of that is just icing. Get in a group and hunt together with other players.
    Its:
    a) more fun
    b) Faster XP
    c) Lets you specialize more if you have a regular group because if you don't WANT to be part medic to heal yourself you can do something else if there are other folks who enjoy it in the group.

Personally I'm a Master Bounty Hunter (and always will be), Master Pistoleer, and now that the skill trees have been loosened up I'm also partial Combat Medic. So I CAN solo but I'm much better off in a group.
