Any news on when the next dragon is supposed to show?

That's what might make me interested again cause I honestly hate hate hate hate fractals they are an abomination and should have never been implemented the way they are.

Boombox is fine. I laugh when I see things like that come out and love seeing people using it in game. It's meant to be a fun, non-game-impacting item and that is what it is. They are keeping their promises with that, though they broke them with XP boosters and ascended weapons to name a few. However, of all the things they do wrong, that is not one of them.

Boycotting EA. Why? They suck, even moreso since 2008.

Too bad this made the game unplayable for you OP.

I have issues with some of Anets choices in GW2 - This one is not on my list though :-)

We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!

So, let me get this straight.  Your assumption is that I have a terrible life, because I want to play games in immersive virtual worlds.  Does that cover it?

I personally read books, watch movies, and play games, because I want to be taken away to the place of the story.  Period.  This has *NOTHING* to do with anyone's life being horrible.  Also, I'm a casual gamer because I run my own business, I'm happily married, and I have several other hobbies.  I get "casual" games.  However, casual doesn't mean it has to be utterly silly either. Especially this game, because it used to be a pretty cool fantasy story setting before it became Candyland.

I asked a simple question after giving my thoughts on the matter.  The first part of your answer was great.  The second part was simply wrong.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

A lot of players are starting to see this game in a new light and not for the better. And having a max lvl character in this game is almost worthless. I just uninstalled the game also. Bought it when it came out and it was fun. But right now it has no direction. The Dev's keep adding temp.crap like that lame super adventure box. Nothing to do with lore or anything. And seeing player's running around with boomboxes is just to stupid for me.

I think it's fine. This is (just a) a game afterall. The moment I've learned about Asura and their inclination to technology I already foresaw a lot of quirky, seemingly out of the world objects to be introduced. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if one day Asuras managed to pull a Ferrari from "Earth's dimension" and bring it to Tyria.

And you know what? They don't bother me, because it's only logical.

Edited: Wow the start of what i say, while being true and straight up, does sound a bit harsh and like I'm heart broken, which of course isn't the case.

Ahh okay so the game wasn't for you and still is not for you, and I'm glad you unistalled it cause as a fan of the game but at the same time thinking a head, it won't be for you in the future. I think sandboxes are for you, which again, is nothing bad at all, I think sandboxes are fun as well, you looking for virtual homes, at least that's what I remember seeing, and I know housing doesn't count for that ha ha.(Which GW2 doesn't have either [yet])

BoomBoxes doesn't break the immersion since lasers and robots exist, it's a prop to have fun with, I'm surprised boxing gloves didnt make you delete the game months ago...

Anyway, please don't reinstall the game months later, then come back and attempt to trash it, some people do that to themselves and it's like cutting your wrist. Course at least your not one of those guys who spent 1000+ hours on that game and had that thought right...right?(I hope I'm right lol).

You guys are reaching.  Would the Asura, should they invent the boombox, put this music in it?  You can make all the lore excuses you want, but it's really just a toy prop, and an annoying one at that.

Would the race of quirky, borderline crazy inventors put weird music in their boombox? Yes, they probably would.

Why is it every other thread that bitches about one feature or another in GW2 gets like 30+ posts in a few hours.  However, when a thread is created with informative pieces and/or discusses likening of the game itself, those threads get less than 10 posts in a couple of days.  Are there really that many sour grapes over GW2?

On topic, Asure tech has been used to make many interesting things.  Least we forget the flying golem fortress filled with dancing toys?  Or the holographic projector that makes an illusionary dragon fly over Lions Arch in the summer?  How about the rockem-sockem robots just a few feet into the starting zone of Metrica Provence?

The boombox, which is perfectly within confines of Asura tech capabilities, is Moto-tech created to help fund his fantastical device that he further develops.    Buy it or don't, nobody but Arena Net  really cares.   But to bitch and moan that some small item used to generate revenue in the game might bug you (which it won't, seeing as how you can toggle other player's instruments in the settings) and your freeloading box buying only attitude...well, that's just crap-on-a-stick.

For a few certain posters, yeah they have an issue with GW2 and they can't help themselves. Perhaps they have nothing better in their lives, who knows. I know of one particular poster that is on several mmo sites like Massively who will troll every single GW2 article, it's like a moth to a flame.

It comes down to personal preference but yes, items like this are out of place IMO.  As is swim suits, aviators, boxing gloves, food weapons, animal zip suits, mini-people pets, etc.  I think between Aion and GW2 NC is trying to corner the market on them.  Not that I blame them honestly since people seem to love to collect them.

"Hey guys! Centaurs are attacking again and we need to help!"

"Aww, but we just changed into our swim suits..."

"... well, maybe one dive couldn't hurt".

Funny enough in the MMO I play I was worried when something to the effect of "beat the summer heat with these new items" was on the marketplace.  I breathed a sigh of relief when it was a few special tiaras.

I find it sort of lame and gimmicky to have real world props make shifted to fit in GW2 via Asura. Imo it feels lazy, but the concept itself I don't have an issue with.

Stuff like Kites, Flutes, and hats, for obvious reasons, are more pallet-able. But a boombox made to mimic the real world pop culture equivalent is definitely going to annoy me seeing it in game. :P

This game has next to nothing for personal character development, even something as simple as being able to go fishing, or customize pets.  Yet the devs are sitting there coding toys like this boombox.

I couldn't do it.  Ultimately I just ended up removing the game today.  Free or not, it's just not a fun fantasy world for me anymore.

What do you guys think?  Does stuff like this Boombox ruin immersion for you, or do you like these kinds of toys in the game?

I stopped playing GW2 after I realized all the content being released is just fluff and has very little meaning. Seriously, endgame is a battle to be the most fashionable living being in Tyria. GW2 is a joke compared to the original Guild Wars. A sad, sad joke.

    same feelings here

I haven't seen anyone with this yet

I do agree that I think this particular item is not the best choices for them. Personally I think they should have made another instrument, maybe a lute or a guitar.

I think the boomboxes are fine. I don't see them breaking immersion for me, I kinda think it's a fun idea. Who knows what would have happened with music in that era, I mean sure it's stretching the thought but at the same time if they want to put it in there just deal with it. Some people enjoy that kind of thing, and it keeps the game running.

Any immersion I ever had in a multiplayer game was inevitably and quite immediately broken by other people.

I do not consider it possible to be immersed in a game, world or lore with other people present; therefore, I don't seek immersion in mmorpgs.

For my immersion I go to single player games.

It's a gem store goods. Why the erf you make a whining post about it? Nobody is forcing you to pay for it or need it to go somewhere. It's purely an item for the people that want to look unique and are willing to spent few $$ or sing some gold (you know, gold sinks are good for the economy, just saying).

Your argument is invalid in the light of WvW revamp and dungeon LFG tool that is coming in 2 weeks. So yeah ... go cry somewhere else, your opinion is invalid.

P.S: It's funny how people lose their minds over an item that they won't even notice in few weeks xD And then these same people claim they have better things to do in life. It's just a sad joke
