You are entitled to your opinion but someone can also ask 'so you have double standards to bash a video game?'
No need to get upset about it.
Don't know why people are upset about a free expansion though.
This is pretty much what he is doing. When called out on his arguments with valid points, he is just making a quick exit while avoiding the question.
Seriously though, Bioware has given tons of contents through the patches so who cares if they name one of them a patch or an expansion since it's free. When you look at the game at launch and what it is now, there is no way you can say that the content is lacking and that we need a proper "expansion". They have added expansion worth of contents gradually instead of everything together and i like it that way. People can gradually do the stuff and there is always new stuff coming up to do.
This new addition is objectively impressive, but the underlying ground game is fatally flawed.
The content that has been added has come out at a decent pace, but the problem is that it isn't anything that breaks the paradigm of the game, so it's not enough.
The 75% die off after release came because the game was too anemic, and it basically tried to be WoW with less to do. The cartel upgrades and live events do not change the basic game.
Those of you who enjoy the game seems to have no concept as to why the other 1.7 million left the game, and why those who spent a lot of money on a disappointing title aren't willing to be burned by it again. When they change the basic nature of the game away from a arena PvP/linear quest grinder with no exploration or non-combat activities that will be momentous. Otherwise it's just a flaccid 2004 design.
First you have your numbers confused. They had 1.7 million accounts when they went free to play. No exploration? Ah you probably don't know what lore items, or datacron, or achievements for exploring an entire world are. The companions, the story lines, the combat is not 2004. Feel free to either research a game you try to bash or better yet actually play the game.
I've played the game and no, there really isn't much exploration at all. Also the combat is 2004 if comparing it to themeparks like WoW (not that this is a bad thing, I am just correcting you because you seem confused).
Another thing "companions" and "story lines" can't be used as examples of "not being 2004" because they could be from any year... They are pets and storylines... every MMO has them.
You hardcore SWTOR players don't seem to get why a vast majority of gamers quit SWTOR and won't be coming back. Most of us wanted an actual Star Wars MMO. Not a World of Warcraft MMO with a Star Wars skin.
Pets are not the same as companions not even close. Can your pets gear in wow or any other game from '04 be up graded as you level. Do your choices you make affect your pet? As you increase your relationship with your pet does he/she start to open up with their past? No they are not the same. Does every class in wow have their own story that your choices affect? Nope didn't think so. How is all the exploration items not exploration?
What you're describing are cinematics vs. actual gameplay. Most MMO players aren't interested in cinematics. This is why SWTOR would have made a great one player RPG game, but makes a terrible MMO.

Its impossible to reason with those who change their tone when proven wrong. So having geared companions that allows you and a guildmate to take down a champion in a heroic area is cinematic? As your relationship with you companion grows new quests open up that's cinematic? Each class has a unique storyline which allows for great alt play is cinematic? [mod edit]

Yeah it is... What you're describing is companions from Dragon Age and Mass Effect games... Bioware is known for having companions in it's single-player RPGs. I'm not lying or spreading misinformation in the least. I'm also talking calmly and not calling people names when they don't agree with my point of view. Maybe you should pick up on that as you seem to get angry every time someone isn't willing to share the same point of view as you.
These are the forums after all. No ones going to agree with one another 100%. If you can't handle that then you probably shouldn't be on the forums.

Yup, instead of partying up with other players you play a solo game with companions like in every Bioware game. Thank you, my original point was just proven. SWTOR is a disappointment because it's not what most were looking for in a Star Wars MMO. This would have been more fit as a single RPG game like I said before.
Appears to be a step in the right direction. It's still a shame they couldn't come up with any PvE content with the open space flying. Hopefully this will just be the basis to build something upon.
The land game is quite fun the first time through...however, I can't imagine going the same linear path ever again.

Sure that's an option and so is teaming up with 2 other giildmates and having my geared companion tank or heal or DPS in a heroic. Its clear you have no concept of the game. Just another hater who doesn't even play the game.
Its a step in the right direction regardless of what the haters think. Adding new game systems to existing mmos is always a good thing. So is this an official expansion? What else are they adding?
all we know so far is the new pvp space battles are in it and that there will be no new planet or lvl cap increase or pve space combat content. this isnt a big expansion that you go and buy in the store. its another digital expansion like RotHC but this one will be free

I played the game so I do know exactly what I'm talking about. You're just a blind fanboy who calls everyone a "hater" when they don't have the same opinion as you.
Also, how many people want to group in a game that is completely soloable besides dungeons? Not many because I tried to get others interested in grouping when I played but it never really worked out. This game definitely caters to the solo players.
That means if you are a PvE player, you are going to be stuck with the same sucky space combat you currently have.
True, but I do not sub to Swtor to play space combat. I'm attracted only to controlling single avatar. For rest could play Eve or alike. That space combat I can see only as added value IF decently made. Fortunately it is not forced like in STO where you can not progress without from time to time.
Looking forward for some expansion like Makeb. Just hope this time they add class story quest line. The very only thing I missed from 1st expansion.
More DLC branded as an expansion. I'm starting to think SWTOR will never see a proper expansion that actually meets the expectation of an expansion or if they will continue to use it as a marketing gimmick.

I was very happy with Makeb, only thing I really missed and I see this as big mistake, was no continuation to class specific quest chains, one of best parts of Swtor. In every single other game when "dinged" i immediately stopped to continue any unfinished quests. Not in Swtor, did at least all specific quest chains.
Maybe instead of being reported for baiting or flaming or derailing the thread, I am leaving it as it is. I believe I am right and made my points. I have nothing further to add to this particular debate, so why would I reply, not trying to be rude or anything just GL everyone with your day kk...
You keep coming up with excuses that's fine its all most haters have. Nothing but excuses, lies and misinformation.
Ah yes onto your third direction. Exactly they are not WOW pets or cinamatics like you have said. They are companions that evolve with you and are very useful in game.
Yup, instead of partying up with other players you play a solo game with companions like in every Bioware game. Thank you, my original point was just proven. SWTOR is a disappointment because it's not what most were looking for in a Star Wars MMO. This would have been more fit as a single RPG game like I said before.
Sure that's an option and so is teaming up with 2 other giildmates and having my geared companion tank or heal or DPS in a heroic. Its clear you have no concept of the game. Just another hater who doesn't even play the game.
Heroics are not soloable unless you are massively outleveled. Go check the planets ahead in the game. They will always be full of LFG spams for Heroics. You obviously played the game for 30 mins before deciding yourself as an expert on it.

WoW's first expansion came after more than 2 years. GW2 has no plans or news for an expansion as of now. So why the fuck are you complaining? SWTOR already has given 8 new Dungeons, 1 full planet, 2 moons and 5-6 new areas after launch and now they will be giving a complete new progression for the space combat, again all for free except Makeb but which is free now for subs. You are just set up on hating it and hence can't see all the content the game has provided and how it is thriving right now with people.
All of you will go on and on about how the game is failing and all but none of you will ever provide a concrete evidence except the it's gone F2P.
Give me one good proof of how the game is dying, c'mon go ahead.
It is hard for a game to be 'dying' when it was never alive because SWTOR is not SWG PRE CU / SWG 2/ SWG EMU / Carrier Pigeon / A piece of cake / my neighbor's car etc etc.

I am constantly amazed at the irrational hatred some people have for a video game but meh, I'm having fun so whatever.

I can see some short term fun here, not enough to get me to come back to the game, but it will bring a bunch a people back for a month or two, I don't see this as holding returning players for very long. I am glad to see it is going in with no charge for subscibers, but I wonder what you will have to buy out of the cartel store to play this expansion../shrug

Agree. One of main problems is when somebody is very smart and say he "played", but misses to say also he played guess half hour. Or maybe just watched some video.
I have played for the first time in my life any game for 7 to 8 months without interruptions. And have been times when I was only doing group quests ... and only soloing. With exception of class quests whole game can be GROUP played only or if somebody prefer soloed. And this is one of best aspects of swtor.
However in general I always prefer solo while leveling all my alts as I'm alholic. This way can better experience what have company prepared for players. Group play is for me at endgame. But swtor is one of rare games when decision is left to players.

Problem with haters in any game actually is they have created some kind of evil religion, no prof necessary, just repeating same mantra all over and over again. One never gets from them any response with facts because they ignore this "small problem" completely. THEY know all. Even if not playing at all. Instead of going out to fresh air, try to find some real friends (they I guess do not have), ... they spend their lives behind keyboard "cooking" their hathred.
I dont know what to think about this for me, they have a lot to prove to me that this going to be something good. they have said so much before. still waiting for the guild ship.
I'll try it out, certainly, but I'm not seeing anything from what they've shown so far which will make me pick SWTOR's space combat over Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous once those are released and I feel like hopping into a cockpit. For one thing it seems to retain that 3rd person perspective. If I'm piloting a ship I want to sit in the cockpit, not hover around outside in space behind the thing. Furthermore, I seriously doubt it'll be useful with stick and throttle. Most likely it'll retain the "point to fly" abomination which has passed for a control system in many "space sim" games since the publishers decided sticks and throttles were too "inaccessible" for the casual gamer, where you just point your mousepointer somewhere on the screen and the ship basically does the flying for you.
Now, if they managed to turn it into a modern X-Wing/TIE Fighter game then I'll be impressed, but that's not the way I'm seeing them going so far. Seems more like a mouse and keyboard optimized arcadeshooter, really.
That means if you are a PvE player, you are going to be stuck with the same sucky space combat you currently have.

that's just rude. This game is clearly adding content despite what you think. (Have to be careful, don't want to be banned again for having a contrary point of view). Despite some of SWTOR:S deficiencies, the publisher is still trying to make a go of this game. For that, I applaud them. I may not like this game, but I am happy for the many users who enjoy it. (Happy now, MODS, see I was actually positive.) I've never been on a forum so heavily moderated, it's like being in China, seriously. Meh!

They are probably just angry because they are not you, but so wish to be. I mean you have the ultimate uncomplicated approach, it is probably why they are SWTOR haters, because they envy you.
If they only played SWTOR and overlooked all of its flaws they could go outside and find real friends! On top of that they are clearly cultists who must be vilified in their non-playing ways. This was a great post you made, as you explained that anything anyone says against SWTOR is clearly a lie.

Appears to be a step in the right direction. It's still a shame they couldn't come up with any PvE content with the open space flying. Hopefully this will just be the basis to build something upon.
The land game is quite fun the first time through...however, I can't imagine going the same linear path ever again.

all we know so far is the new pvp space battles are in it and that there will be no new planet or lvl cap increase or pve space combat content. this isnt a big expansion that you go and buy in the store. its another digital expansion like RotHC but this one will be free
