PvP in September

r1tualr1tual Member Posts: 559

Everquest II:  Desert of Flames.

I wonder why they called it desert of flames.  Probably because all the PvE fanboys are going to flame.

THanks SOE.  I look forward to seeing it,  I subscribe to Station access but dont ever really play EQ2.

Note:  Hopefully the second expansion actually adds real PvP.  This is a good start but kind of limited.

Don't expect too much from SOE's decision to add PvP. You'll probably just get to do battle 1 vs 1 in arenas and that's about it. The only reason SOE is adding PvP is to be more like WOW since their game has flopped.

You know Swift (talk about an oxymoron there) the MMO business has a name for MMO's that "flop" with only 350,000 active subscribers (check the facts yourself if you don't believe them), they call them successful.

Your kinda like one of those kids that Jay and Silent Bob beat up in the end of Jay and Silent Bob strike back arent you?....

Like i said before, go back to the WoW forums and leave the EQ2 fans alone. Nobody cares or wants to hear you troll on these forums.  Every post ive seen by you has nothing but WoW fanboi eq2 bashing.  If you dont like a game, keep it to yourself.  You are immature and not to mention annoying.

alright, then by that mindset WoW most likely doesnt have 1.5million players. do you believe them? i think both SOE and Blizzard are telling the truth. if SOE was going to lie, why would they release a number over 1 million less than their competitor?

check MMORPGCHART.com, they have the same stats, 350k.

also, SOE NEVER said that they WOULDNT add PVP, they said that they were FOCUSING on PVE and werent thinking about PVP AT THE TIME, which was true.

as has been said, at this point youre just trolling. why dont you go play WoW and get off our damn board?

Lets see. Topic highjacking? Yeah, thats it. What a total mess this forum is and have been for months.

Eq2 gets PvP. Great! Lets discuss that and not let the kid turn this tread into yet another wow/350k/flop/whatever-not-pvp-in-eq2 that he obviously want to. Why his account is still open after turning every god damn tread in this subforum into flamebait is beyond me. Think I'm going to reconsider ever using this forum again.

    Thank you.

I have patience,  but I am kind of worried about how long it is going ot take to add the Qeynos versus Freeport PvP war.

I will probably play EQ2 a little (I do subscribe to Station All Access) but I think even with the Arena's I am still going to probably play Planetside and SWG more then EQ2.  I have one character in EQ2 and he is level 20.  I barely play.  I might do a few missions every week,  other then that I get pretty bored.

  • EnigmaEnigma Member UncommonPosts: 11,384

    I agree r1tual

Hopefully, it'll be put in soon

But when it does it will feel kind of weird. Ive hunted many times with those of opposite faction. Ah well...it's war

Such a bias to Qeynos I'm not sure how PvP will be balanced, plus what about classes with pets such as necro, surely they are too powerful?

I was discussing the topic if you actually took time to read the thread until the haters showed up.

I'm also curious if those that have attacked me personally have been issued a warning for flaming? yeah right image

PvP isn't going to work very well in EQ2, simply for the reason in that it wasn't originally intended. So that means that they will have to do some major revamping of the classes, etc. It's going to be the same as it was in EQ.

Swiftflow you lose all credibility since you've NEVER PLAYED THE GAME. How can anyone take you seriously when you spout things and you have no idea what you're talking about. You're absolutely clueless and you're the ONLY one who doesn't realize it.

As far as PvP, reading the press release, it says you can play as some other type of creature or yourself. I think in order to keep things balanced, it is going to be a totally seperate system (in fact they've said it will be a totally seperate system). All this makes me wonder how they could possibly implement something like open warfare between the cities. It should be interesting.

This is a common misconception. On the EQ2 forums, people have gone back and found all of the dev's old posts that actually stated they would be implementing PvP in the future. They wanted to try something different and would take too much time to develop so they pushed it to post release.

    Ummmmm... I played EQ2 for 5 months...anymore brilliant insight?

But like I said before the only reason SOE is implementing PVP is to stop the bleeding of cancelled subs.

  • mangarmangar Member UncommonPosts: 296

The Devs over at SoE that look over EQ2 have taken great strides to carefully balance player classes.  However there will always me classes that are slightly more powerful.  The introduction of this PvP system is a very smart thing for a few key reasons:

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

1). It adds what seems to be a meta game in creature rearing

2). PvP will appear to be Player Vs. Player and Player Vs. Pet

3). When things get dull or if you have a not so effective toon for 1 on 1 combat you can play as a monster

Not being a fan of PvP I could really care less for a flat out FP Vs. Q-town war but this new city adds some options for those of us that do not feel like getting camped and slammed with EXP debt if SoE decides to fire something up.  Personally I think that the major conflict in the game will revolve around the intruding forces from beyond (the shadowed men, nightshades and all their pals) and the natural civilized residents of Norath (both FP and Q-town).

Oh really, what was your character's name? What server did you play on? What class were you? What level did you make it to? You see it's really hard to lie about this stuff in EQ2 because of the beauty of Character profiles.

  • r1tualr1tual Member Posts: 559

There is going to be no rebalancing.

Smart programmers and logical thinkers would make seperate attribute values for PvP and PvE.  This way they can balance them independantly from one another.

This is what EQ2 is doing.  Yes I gave them the idea.

Spread the word.  Stop the uninformed posts from spreading.

Actually necros are weak as hell. Sure they have pets but their pets arent that powerfull and most of the time you just simply ignore the pet and go against the necro. You hit it 2-3 times and he is dead:):)

I doubt it will be a FR vs Qn pvp system, cause there are lots of guilds that have both Freeportians and Qeynosians as members.

PvE will be entirely different than PvP in terms of combat
