Not to rain on yalls parade, but 350,000 subscribers is not something to brag about. World of War craft is pushing over 1.5 million; Lineage 2 is well over 2 million. EQ2s 350,000 is closer to small budget games like City of Heroes, and universally panned games like SWG. EQ2 has potential, but as is, its not worth 14 bucks a month.
I am a bit of a EQ fan boy and would probably fire my account back up if they were to quit molesting paladins right and left. However, we all know how SOE is, and there is a better chance of fluffy bunnies flying out of you butt then for them to admit they were wrong about anything.

L2 over 2 mil? Wow. I did not know that. I lasted a week in that game before all the l33t talk drove me away.
Well anyways back to the topic. 350k Customers is something to be proud of. Just think, how many people live in your city? Ill let your mind do the rest.
Anyways population doesnt tell the quality of the game. WoW has 1.5 mil customers. My guess is half of those customers are under the age of 15. WoW is appealing to the younger audiences because it lacks depth of gameplay, and is very simple. EQ - FFXI - EQ2 - SWG probably appeals to older folks because it takes actual thought and strategy to kill things. Id probably go back to WoW if they made groups a more viable way to level up instead of mindless - storyless (for the most part) quests. Ill be the first to admit WoW was a great game for a month!
Thanks for the info!

WEll you care enough to lie about playing EQ2 when it's pretty obvious to everyone here you've never played it. You can't back up your comments with facts, so not only are you a joke, but a liar too.

What does your post have to do with the upcoming expansion?? If you want to rate the game, there is a place to do that.
Last time I looked there were a heck of a lot more Chevys out there than BMWs and Porsches.

2 million subscribers for Lineage 2 is often misquoted - This Korean based game is the most hacked one ever, bots/hackers make up a large proprtion of these 'subscribers', plus subscription is like a time share thing over there where you pay-as-you-go.
As quoted in Korean press, "
Internet game players' group threatens suit against NC Soft
Online game players are threatening to file a class action suit against NC Soft, Korea's largest Internet game developer and publisher. They claim the fees to play the game Lineage are too high and that the company has been negligent in attending to various technical and ethical problems involving the game.
The Online Consumers League, an Internet-based civic group, sent a statement, signed by 1,060 members, to NC Soft yesterday, notifying the company that it would file the suit.
The league claims that the game is too expensive. It noted that the monthly fee of 30,000 won ($25.40) was almost double the rate in some other countries. Monthly rates are $15 in the United States, 2,000 yen ($17.60) in Japan, and $480 NT ($14) in Taiwan. "Korean game players are being discriminated against," they said.
The league also said that the game's server crashed too often, and that there was significant fraud or hacking of the game, yet the company has not taken action to improve conditions. They said that they would file the suit if the company did not act by May 28.
Recently, users have informally asked many other online game developers to lower their charges as well.
In this year's first quarter, NC Soft reported sales of 60.9 billion won and operating profits of 31.7 billion won. "It is difficult to make a comparison with other countries because the market itself is different," said Kim Ju-young, the company's public relations director. "Also, compared to other modes of entertainment here in Korea, the charges are still very low."
Another problem that users pointed out was the cash trading of game items offline. Within the game, there are many different "items" such as weapons, clothing or potions, that have different levels of power. Acquiring more powerful items can take hours of playing time. The ability to acquire more powerful items also depends on the level of skill of the player. Therefore, for players unable or unwilling to devote the necessary time, buying and selling items for cash has become a widespread trend.
"Offline or online trading of items has nothing to do with the company," a company official said. "If it is illegal, then the government should make a law forbidding cash trade of online items," the official added.
Many users, however, disagree. "The basic structure of online games is that if one has good items and equipment, then he or she can win," one game player said.
Since the game was launched in 1999, 520 million accounts have been opened in Korea alone. That figure can include multiple accounts for an individual subscriber.

EQ2 subs dont count, they count EVERY station pass as a sub for EQ2 even tho some might not even have it installed
PvP as an afterthought.. oh my... I bet it will be grand
EQ2 was not structured for PvP, whatever bastardization emerges will not appeal to true PvPers.
Everyone knows you gotta release a game with PvP from the start instead of morphing the game to mimic more successful models if your PvP system is to be taken seriously.

actually, PvP was fully intentional and planned during the phases of development of Everquest 2. It isn't necessarily an afterthought as they were designing the game mechanics of PvP for over a year now.
Why wasn't implemented from the very beginning? Only the Devs know for sure. Maybe it was to not make the same mistake as SWG, maybe they weren't done with it, maybe they wanted to see the actual classes in action en masse before they made the adjustments.
Whatever the case is, they've been coding PvP way before it was released into Beta

not reading ANY of the other posts in this thread (sorry to any who posted something well thought-out and constructed) but I rue the day PVP goes into EQ2.
All the classes will be fighting over being underpowered and SoE will end up nerfing ALL of the classes for both PVP and PVE into oblivion because of it. SoE isn't good at balancing jack shit as far as PVP is concerned. Planetside is a prime example of this....where they nerfed the fun out of it...

You need to read how they plan on implementing PvP before you make judgements.

doesn't matter how they plan to implement it since people will still whine and bitch and moan because their class isn't powerful enough or their class can't solo every other class.
Regardless, SoE will still try to slowly bring more and more PVP into the game.
A mage will know if a fighter gets too close to them, they wont have a chance and vice versa for a fighter.
A Templar will know that his odds fighting a guardian is improbable at best for solo (and if group PvP will be in the game) he will probably align himself with an allie with more attacking power.
It's like chess. SOE stated they wont "balance" everyone to be the same strengths when it comes to PvP. That's where creativity and engeniuty comes to play.
