The forthcoming film based on Blizzard's Warcraft series has been largely shrouded in mystery cast-wise. The wraps are off and the full cast has been announced.
Universal Pictures has revealed they have closed deals with Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, and Rob Kazinsky and are in final stages of negotiation with Dominic Cooper to star in Warcraft, based on Blizzard Entertainment’s award-winning video game series.
Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Alex Gartner will produce. Stuart Fenegan, Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor and Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime and Paul Sams will serve as executive producers. Chris Metzen, Rob Pardo and Nick Carpenter from Blizzard will co-produce.
The script was written by Charles Leavitt and rewritten by Duncan Jones. Production is set to begin as planned in Vancouver this January.
Patton was most recently seen in BAGGAGE CLAIM and 2 GUNS as well as MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. She is repped by CAA.
Kebbell was last seen in THE COUNSELOR and is in the upcoming DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. He is repped by CAA.
Kazinsky was most recently seen in PACIFIC RIM and HBO’s “True Blood.” He is repped by The Gersh Agency in the US and Creative Artists Management in the UK.
Cooper’s credits include CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. He can also be seen in Universal’s DRACULA UNTOLD. He is repped by CAA.
Legendary most recently released PACIFIC RIM directed by Guillermo del Toro, the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, and MAN OF STEEL with Warner Bros. In addition to WARCRAFT, highlights from Legendary’s upcoming slate include the GODZILLA project, based on Toho Company’s famed character; and 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE.
Roven most recently produced THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and MAN OF STEEL as well as serving as a producer on the upcoming yet untitled Superman Batman Film. Atlas Entertainment will next release David O. Russell’s AMERICAN HUSTLE, which just won the New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Picture, starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Jennifer Lawrence.

This is going to be a problem...
In real life, monolithic Shoulder-Padded armor is too difficult to act in.
I would think that could only be a good thing. I usually prefer brits over americans as actors.
There are a few fun movies based on games. I actually enjoyed the Doom movie (though they could/should have put in more of the monsters that were in the game) as it was sort of fun.
I liked the Silent Hill movie (first one)
And I actually enjoyed the Prince of Persia as it was also kind of fun. Nothing serious obviously.
The Resident Evil movies were fun at the start but got progressively worse.
I didn't like Max Payne or Hitman.
uwe Bol's movies are horrible. However, after watching two of them this last weekend I've come to the conclusion that he is a "serviceable" director and it's the writing that really damns them.

Wow, it's a whole bunch of actors that I...I... who the hell are these people? Not a single one of those names rings a bell.
Also, I've said it before and will do so until blue in the face: Live-action movie = FAIL. Fail, fail fail, fail. FAIL. Why would you do that?! People love Blizzard's CG stuff, not live action junk with cruddy CG effects! Furthermore much of the costume design will have to be toned down significantly from the actual in-game pieces, since the 'oversized' look of much of the gear simply wouldn't translate to a live action format.
It's going to be the Wing Commander movie all over again, I just know it. Bunch of b-list actors combined with shoddy directing, shoddy special effects, shoddy acting, shoddy costuming...
A CG movie would be something to be excited about. With this, about the only thing I can look forward to is seeing what Mike Nelson & the gang can do with the Rifftrax.

something tells me World of Warcraft the motion picture is going to fall somewhere between Dungeons and Dragons (the movie) and Final Fantasy Spirits Within...
The same was said for the male leads in Thor when it first came out. Now Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are superstars. "A-list" actors are nothing more than a big name.
No its not . Just do what they did in man of steal. All the big armor they had on was CG . So fighting and acting in big armor wasnt a problem.

True, but that was also the result of the excellent direction and production by Joss Whedon & Marvel Films, with a number of A-list supporting actors in there as well. Not that I'm trying to say that the actors in question didn't do a good job, they did very well.
While Legendary gets HUGE props from me for Pacific Rim (made me feel like a 6 year old watching Godzilla 1985 for the first time again), since about 2010 the majority of their releases have been fairly lackluster.
Also, need I point out the horribleness of the B-list actors in the Star Wars prequels? Though to be fair I suppose that was more writing and direction than anything (Hayden Christenson and Jake Lloyd are still fucking awful though).

I think it was more the writing. Though I agree Hayden Christenson was't great. I have no opinion on Jake Lloyd as he was a kid. Iv'e seen worse.
Thing about "B list" actors is that it doens't mean they are necessarily bad actors. You can be a great actor who has yet to do a "'big part".
Additionally, it's kind of better to use B list actors who are good because they cost less and the audience isn't sitting there the whole time saying "yupl that's Tom Cruise, yup, that's Matt Damon". Instead they are seeing the Actors.
I mean, did anyone really know most of the actors in the lord of the rings movies? Were they considered "top stars"? At least as far as notoriety goes. Not ability.
I have more worry over the writing of this movie than the actors.

So no one really knows anything about the movie but it already sucks because some ppl don't know who the actors are ?
Big shocker with that reaction.
You make me like charity
you don't actually know what b movie means, do ya?
you think anything blizz produces would be low budget? seriously? welcome to the internetz, you must have missed the last 15 years ^^
