This proof devs ade morons and when listening take a good idea and ruin to keep our hopes and dreams to a minimum. Thats what endless gear grind mmos are designed for, to break you down.
So of course its not a cgi master piece but a live action movie. Doing live action with fantasy characters needs good cgi anyways or it looks real bad, so it might as be animated.
The cast looks good to me, however. It would be a shame to make this movie look bad with a good cast because wow devs are morons when it comes to choosing between cgi animation vs live action, when they are a video game company with cgi trailers.

At first glance I didn't recognize any of the actors, but after looking at what they have been in, I don't think the list is so bad. I enjoyed some of the movies they have been in. I'm more worried about the writing than anything else.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
People are too hooked up on the so called A-list actors.
There are plenty of examples out there from Movies With "New" and "upcoming" actors that turned into (a) Blockbuster Movie(s) and skyrocketed these actors carreers, making them famous.
Every so called "famous" actor you know today started once as a "unkown" actor. Remember that!

I bet this Warcraft movie has as much do with Warcraft as Vikings has to do with actual vikings. Another Dungeon and Dragons movie coming, says oracle.

Ben Foster is an amazing actor. You've probably seen him in a few things and just don't recognize the name.

There's always a first. I really hope this succeeds, not for Blizzard, but for gamers who have long been shafted at the cinema. Comic book movies sucked balls until that first Spiderman came out and everyone was like, "hey that was pretty good!" Then we got the Dark Knight and people lost their minds.
One good Video Game movie can means we get a whole string of them over the next 5 years. Uncharted, which is basically Indiana Jones, would be awesome. God of War, and so many others. Anyway, I'd love to see properly good video game movies.

Well an fantasy film with an American cast would be/sound abit silly wouldn't it? Imagine an American version of Game of Thrones.
English and Irish actors are always better in fantasy films and TV series
Wow, it's a whole bunch of actors that I...I... who the hell are these people? Not a single one of those names rings a bell.
Also, I've said it before and will do so until blue in the face: Live-action movie = FAIL. Fail, fail fail, fail. FAIL. Why would you do that?! People love Blizzard's CG stuff, not live action junk with cruddy CG effects! Furthermore much of the costume design will have to be toned down significantly from the actual in-game pieces, since the 'oversized' look of much of the gear simply wouldn't translate to a live action format.
It's going to be the Wing Commander movie all over again, I just know it. Bunch of b-list actors combined with shoddy directing, shoddy special effects, shoddy acting, shoddy costuming...
A CG movie would be something to be excited about. With this, about the only thing I can look forward to is seeing what Mike Nelson & the gang can do with the Rifftrax.
Yea because lord of the rings and hobbit has cruddy live action and CGI effects right?

Lol, best comment of this thread so far. Well played sir.

I do think they could have picked a better video game to make a movie out of than World of Warcraft, but it's at least the best story wise they've used so far (except Final Fantasy). Maybe this has a chance at being the first wide US release video game based film that doesn't get horrible reviews? Chances are, that's going to be a no. The highest rated wide US release of a film based on a video game is Final Fantasy: Spirits Within with a 44% on rotten tomatoes and 49 on metacritic which are still very horrible scores. Mortal Kombat and Prince of Persia are in the 50s on metacritic but have lower rotten tomato scores.
Also for those wondering, the film is scheduled to release in March 11th 2016.
Could the writer be any closer to the front of the hype train? Starting an article with "BREAKING NEWS" is generally reserved for world-changing events now, and I'm fairly certain this does not qualify. The only people who might consider this important are those involved with World of Warcraft. The rest of the MMO community probably doesn't treat this as world-changing news, or even care.

Id rather have an excellent director and a no name cast than vice versa. An excellent director can get good performances out of a no name cast.
Both Jones's movies have been very good. I wouldnt worry about the cast at all.

+2
To make a Fanasty Live action work you need a few things
1: at least 1-2 A list actors " Crowd pullers"
2: A great Director " someone with vision "
3: You can't half ass it , its go BIG!! or go Home
If you go Big you may get Lord of the Rings aclaim and Boxoffice if you half ass it you will get Dungeons and Dragons and its boxoffice ...
British - second string cast - got it.

I hold absolutely no hope that this movie is anything but complete garbage.
