The Holiday season marked a significant milestone for ArcheAge at Trion Worlds: the Friends and Family Alpha, up 24x7 minus any patches and maintenance is in full swing. That’s right folks: English Language ArcheAge is running, roughly translated, being played and devoured by Trion and its employees’ friends and family. If you know someone at the company... now’s the time to bug them for an invite. We caught up with CEO Scott Hartsman to talk about the milestone and all the other things Trion’s been working on with ArcheAge... as well as when we could possibly see alpha and beta expand to other testers. I guess Trion had a live "question and answer" last Friday. It was supposed to be about Rift. However, members of archeagesource started to troll with AA release date questions. While no real answers were given, Trion did answer with, "much sooner than 6 months."
Llexx_aas: yes yes, Rift this and that.... but what about ArcheAge?

I would never ever ever ever buy that. Because my expectations would be high and since it's Trion they would crush it.
Sure alpha is alpha but if they would give a fuck about the community then I would defenitly buy alpha package if they would add such a thing, but they dont so why would we throw money at an alpha when they couldn't give any fucks to their community?
My experiences with Defiance and Trove is that they very much do "give a !@#$"; about the community. Sorry if you don't feel like they do.
Yay, Trion got a friends and family-alpha ready! Not bad for a title that has been released a year ago and has long dropped off the western player's radar.
At this pace they could make it into the beta before the game gets shut down in korea some day.
Unless ESO terribly bombs at the 1 or 2 month since release mark...based on that timeline this game is REKT. It will probably have a small community at launch.
If however ESO does bomb, then it comes out at an opportune time and does well
If however Wildstar comes out before this launches.....welp....enjoy your small player community of weeaboos.
TLDR - Things don't look too good unless everyone else fails horribly.
They handled it much better in those games but for ArcheAge im still trying to find all the fucks they are "giving"
Alpha in this game shouldnt mean anything. Its already out, only thing needing done is translation by Trion. Not like you are getting alpha graphics, alpha missions, alpha characters, etc......... Unless they are westernizing it I have no clue why the hell its taking 1 year +, know larger games that took half this amount of time.
Not sure how wildstar will take players from archeage they appeal to two different types of customer one is sandbox the other is themepark. Archeage has tons of endgame options. Pirating, farming, global territory control, open world housing.

The game is being Westernized.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
They said they were not going to do this, they changed their mind? Links so i can read up on this? Kind of lost interest in keeping up with a game still 5 years away ( it seems like).

I'm not sure why people are talking about EverQuest Next. That game is at least 2-3 years away. Moreover, Landmark alone won't be for everyone.
Elder Scrolls Online will most likely be a medieval version of SWTOR, e.g., too linear, too story-driven, too restrictive.
Wildstar will most likely be too... been there, done that.
I've played ArcheAge. It's very nice. It may not be uber-huge in Asia, but we all know that they would prefer something like Candy Land rather than a game like Monopoly.
