Horizons easily wins this for me. As much as I wanted to love the game I couldn't. The world wasn't fleshed out, animations weren't there. The game didn't even play well in comparison to other mmos of the time. Hell, so much of the game was just unfinished, it was sad.
Tough call... the quickest uninstall is probably somewhere between Darkfall and Aion.
An honorable mention should go out to FFXIV since I literally fell asleep at the keyboard.

Fun read, I'd have to say Mortal Online or Lord of the Rings.
I only bought MO because a friend wanted to play so I was already miffed that I had spent $70 on a game. I played for about 15 minutes before I couldn't handle the shlongs anymore.
LOTRO, I never managed to log into the game even once. The LOTRO installer was packaged with a P2P bandwidth sharing service. It took me several hours to discover why my network was dogging, and as soon as I found it I uninstalled everything. I have zero tolerance for any software that packages bloatware or modifies my system inappropriately.
There are many other games that I've tried in the past, played for about 10 minutes and left, but really don't remember names of any of them lol. They were that bad.
Billed as a "sandbox" MMO when it's a contentless hack-n-slash
I tried it shortly after Massively's write up described it as "awesome animations and spell effects" among other praise.
A horrible piece of crap with fanbois that will rabidly defend it tooth and nail if you dare suggest such to them.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
We could ante this up to more along the lines of "Worst MMOs you've ever played the longest and you only knew why now" . Wish I could supply one right now but the memory bank in need of a critical defrag.
this is a tough one lol....There are so many bad ones its hard to say which one really stands out......Some of them I played for such a short amount of time I cant even remember why I didnt like them.....THe 2 most recent ones are Neverwinter and The Secret World, probably because I had some expectations for both of them and they were nowhere near what I thought they would be.
I'm a big fan of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbits books, but I didn't like that game at all. The main problem was the classes were horrible. They were all bland and had bland abilities to use. Walking around the world it felt very artificial to me.
Final Fantasy XIV was pretty bad originally. I've heard it's a lot better now, but it was not very enjoyable when it first came out. FF XI was a better MMO IMO.
There is a game I had high hopes for (coming out soon) in beta that I got bored with really quickly. I won't say the name though.
GW2 and TSW. Before you destroy me for my bad taste, I think they're great games but something about them...made me bored. I liked them and wanted to give them a try but I couldn't just no.
I usually shy away from small indie games and definitely never try any of the Asian P2W MMO's or I'm sure they'd be on the list but as it were I only play high profile big name games and those 5 are the worst of the worst for me.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
Bad combat .. clicking on a rock forever to level up mining .. griefing everywhere. I am glad they don't make games like that anymore.
You never played UO. You said yourself you were only a part of a stress test beta and never saw the actual game. I assume you just like ranting about UO all the time because you know it's almost universally loved by veterans on this site.
I played open beta .. enough to dislike it. Don't tell me the game don't have tank mage, housing ghetto and horrible griefing after release.
And the topic asked me what is the worst MMO i have ever played. You don't want an honest answer?
I beta tested the game. In the beta forums I'd make suggestions on improvements. At the time there was a plethora of rabid lore mongers. These wackjobs would attack anyone who didn't follow lore. Even if it was a good idea.. OMG DERRR NOT IN DUH BOOKZ MMMRRRRUHHH 111!!!
I got so pissed off with these idiots I would argue with them. Usually I'd make them look like the idiots they were. They were so desperate they whined to the mods saying I was harrassing them. Ended up getting banned from beta. The mods were at a loss to proove my harrassment so I was invited back. I turned them down.
The amusing part. They'd put in most of what I suggested half a year later when they started to go FTP to gain players.
lol, you are hysterical.
No one said anything about "deer not i nthe books". I think what is closer to the truth is people were pointing out that the world didn't have everyone throwing fire balls around and some people (like you) didn't understand that.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
RF online, no question. Not all of it is the game's fault. First I bought it at full price then lost the unopened box behind a chair (thanks cat) and couldn't find it until after it went FtP. At which point when I started playing I got laughed at by the community for being a newbie and for paying full price. But then the controls were confusing, I couldn't find the help section, the character options were next to nil, and I couldn't figure out what to do. I probably gave it more than two hours, but when I was done I had more than enough. When it was shut down I was happy.
ETA I'm just going to say the people here just listing five games aren't contributing anything. Why don't you tell us why they were bad and give us something more than "it's dumb"?

Mortal Online for me.. game's just terrible lol.

there is actually a separate thread for that question
I thought this was the thread for literally the worst mmo one has ever played.
I mean look, I'm not a WoW fan but it would be incredibly disingenuous for me to say that it is the worst mmo I've ever played.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
Worst Mmorpg's I've ever played.

Rift and SWTOR I could tell were going to be awful after playing for under an hour of beta.
list would be shorter to tell ya the worth mmos i played but i think its
age of conan, crap game and took to much afort into it for to long time till i reached the moment i pressed alt f4 and kicked it off the board

The people saying WoW should just be banned from the internet and never be allowed to eat pie again.
Mortal Online was horrible.
1. SWG
2. EVE
3. UO
4. Dark Fall
5. AoC
Those game were horrible.
lol, you are hysterical.

Final Fantasy 11 Online because was so addictive I lost 10 years of my life playing almost everyday.
I can't mention any other so called mmo they are not worth mentioning or they are single players masked as mmo.
