Is this thread a "Is This A WoW Clone?" clone?
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Developers that previously worked on WoW vanilla create a WoW-like game. News at 11.

Boiling it down to the simplest of things so simple people can understand. Yes, it is a WoW clone.

The problem with calling something a WoW clone is that Wow is a clone of real games...kiddies think it's the first mmo...Eq1 and others came before it...wow just made an idiot level game that made the kiddies think it was great when it was at best a slightly mentally damaged bastard step child of real mmos

Wildstar has the same setup as WOW meaning it's an end game raiding game just like WOW sure they have this and that and wow has there this and that, But it all comes down to this:

If you love WOW and have no problems with different combat mechanics then you will love Wildstar, calling it a wow clone is wrong but calling it a wow vanilla clone is more accurate but still a bit off.

So if you liked GW2 but hated the dungeon setup a wish they had more of a wow setup then this game is for you.

I haven't played wildstar much so I will not comment to much on weather its good or bad thats up for all off you to find out but I think it looks promising from raiders prospective.

Sure wildstar has housing and all of that stuff to and if that works out and ppl love it then wow will have it soon to.

I don't get it... Are we still calling games clones?

Do people who make those claims actually have some imaginative feelings of false loyalty towards a particular game?  I never really understood this.

If I like the game just the way it is and it's what I want to spend my money on it, why should it matter if the game used some of the ideas from someone else? I don't care whos idea was it 10 years ago, I like what they did with it now and I'm going to support their work and enjoy the game. Afterall it's the details which separate great games and good games.

Will it change your opinion or desire to play or not to play the game if someone tells you "oh man, that game is such a clone"? If you like Iron man and someone comes up and says "damn that iron man sucks, the worst movie ever", will it stop you from watching it or liking iron man just because someone doesn't like it? I bet none will stop you from watching the movie.

I'm not sure if you get my point, but here it is: not everyone likes the same things and people are really amazing and weird creatures so wait till you try the games yourself and then judge them and take others peoples opinion with a grain of salt.

Yeah you could very easy say its a sci-fi WoW clone with half tab target half action based combat. I will say, its the first game in the last 10 years though were that actually ok, and maybe even a good thing.

I totally agree with what you say but I feel that the term "wow clone" or "some other clone" has become a way to describe the game, atleast for me.

The term "clone" is charged very negative but i feel a real clone is a game that is exactly like another game just a different scenary, thats a real clone.

Today mmos always steel great ideas from each other if they didn't we would all play everquest today or maybe Eve.

Wow has stolen there hole base for the game from everquest and then continued to steel from everyother game released and they will continue to do so otherwise there game would be so outdated and no one would play it, is it wrong to do so? I don't think so it makes the market more competitive and gives us greater games.

Far as I could tell, the only similarities it has with WoW is possibly is color palette and its questing format (hub-to-hub)
