Wut... Would you recommed me Skyrim if I wanted to explore some Redguard cities and lands? What about Breton? If I wanted to PvP in Cyrodiil? If I wanted to run into other players in Elderscrolls world? Come on... The guy even said he's looking for RvR style PvP.
He didn't say anything about exploring Redguard cities or PVP'ing specifically in Cyrodil. Even if he did, I still wouldn't recommend ESO. So like you said, he is looking for RvR style PVP and I gave him my recommendation like he asked for.
PVE in ESO is so much better than GW2 it's not even comparable
If you like linear quest grinding like the WoW clone provide these last 10 years, then yeah, ESO, is better. Otherwise, GW2 is a much better experience.
Maybe, but when it comes to Faction vs Faction pvp it is rather a Kid´s game. I started playing GW2 in the last days again after a year around and to get the feel and see the difference after playing ESO beta.

GW2 is a Kid´s game...no kidding.
What about you post more details. Because obviously, ESO is just like GW2 and WAR and DAoC when it comes to PvP... a "carebear style" game, where you can level in 100% safety far away from the dangers of PvP.
So how is GW2 more a "kids game" than those other games? Or are you just trying to make you feel better and more "mature" compared to people who happen to play a different... *gasp*... VIDEO GAME!
It feels and is just more simple.
I did play wvw and eternal battlegrounds only some minutes ago for a short time and had to logoff because it was just boring.
All you do is run behind a "leader" with a symbol over his head, always with speed buffs. It is way too fast everything.
Gates and walls get destroyed within such a short time...way faster. A Gate is down in seconds and there are no really siege wars, people spawn a ramm/hitting the gate and thats it.
Its like comparing COD with Arma 3.....the battles in GW2 are simple and rich of fast action, wheras EOS really offers immersive siege wars. World of Warcraft has nothing in common with such a type of pvp.
No iam not trying to make me feel better, i just try to express my feeling when playing such games.
It's never too late to start GW2 because you can leave that game for close to a year like I have and come back to find that absolutely nothing has changed because all the content patches that I missed were all temporary Living Story crap that you can't repeat unlike other games and their content. There's actually no better time to start GW2 because supposedly all that Living Story crap is coming to an end.
I'm going to be playing ESO anyway though. Character building is much more in-depth and diverse, allowing for way more freedom in playstyle. Plus Alliance vs Alliance completely blows GW2's World vs World out of the water. It's not even a contest. I think the combat's a little better in GW2 currently, but ESO devs are still making adjustments before release. Play GW2 if you can't afford or don't want to pay the ESO sub. Both are good games, but ESO is shaping into what I wanted GW2 to be.

You mean, you were just doing that? Because that's not what everyone is doing. Don't confuse "I'm following the crowd" with "it's the best way to play the game".

Siege wars only happens when both sides are equally smart. That most of the times does not happens, specially in a PvP environment based on "PUG" (pickup groups), like all those RvR/WvW games, including GW2 and your beloved last new kid on the blocks, "ESO". You take dumb on one side, oppose him to dumber on the other side, and expect something exciting? Leave the zerg, join an organized PvP guild, enjoy the difference.
Its like comparing COD with Arma 3.....

Both games are exactly the same... you say GW2 is a "Kid's game", and I assume that's compared to ESO. Yes, you are trying to make yourself feel superior because of your choice of one game as opposed to another. At the end of the day, both games are "carebear style" PvP games, where you can get to max level with zero risk involved and only engage PvP once your character is maxed out. I'm not disputing your right to like ESO better than GW2, I don't even give a shit to be honest. What makes me laugh is that you think one "RvR" game is more "hardcore", or less "Kid's game" than another, when they are all based on the same concept. All are "kid's games", where you only go into PvP when you're the strongest without any risk before that. So all are "kid's games", and as I said, amusingly enough, the game so many say it's a "kid"s game", World of Warcraft, actually has servers with way more harsh rules than any of those RvR games.
Well, this is your opinion but for me both games are not the same. A concept alone isnt enough that would be just a flat comparison, there is immersion and especially how you feel in a game world, the speed of gameplay, the options and so on..
I rather think GW2 is already your "new kid on the block" game for longer, following your reaction. I didnt say a word about "hardcore", dont even know what you mean.
I play GW2 and pretty much exclusively play in WvW now because I have just given up on pve. I'm in a great guild on one of the top ranked WvW servers and we have a lot of fun. The new map, Edge of the Mists offers a fresh change and can be a blast. The WvW in GW2 can be a lot of fun and it isn't mindless zerging like a lot of people here say (at least not in tier 1). Lots of guilds, like mine, are smaller (10-25 most nights) and we can usually take down larger forces (hella fun).
Having said that, I've played GW2 a while and I'm ready for a break. The latest info in AvA in ESO and some of the vids I've seen have certainly gotten my attention. Monthly fees don't bother me. I've spent more in GW2 than $15 a month but that's just me >.<
TESO is still in BETA - it will be dealing with massive lags and bugs in it's post-launch syndrom, like every MMO does. Just wait a few month to see how it turns out.
I've played GW2 for a weekend trial and liked it, didn't get far, but I liked it.
I've been looking at playing GW2 seriously for a while, my main focus is PvP, RvR type of PvP so I think the WvWvW would be a good fit, but...
Am I a bit late to start GW2, and so should I just plump for TESO and their incarnation of AvAvA????
Think I'm leaning towards pre-purchasing TESO at the moment...
GW2 is an extremely easy, casual friendly game. Reaching max level will be extremely quick.
The game caters to cosmetics carebears, so there isn't a lot of gear grinding. The majority of the gear progression is cosmetics grinding. The first tier of endgame gear is exotic, and it shouldn't take you more than 2-3 days to get a full set of that. The second tier if ascended, which will take a while longer, but the tiers are so close that you will be perfectly viable in exotic gear. Most of the people that I know don't bother with trying to get a full set of ascended gear.
In other words, if you are just wanting something new, then go for TESO. However, it is never to late to get into GW2. The game heavily lacks progression, so you'll be caught up in no time.
If your main focus is quality PvP, don't bother with GW2.
They ALMOST got it right, but fell so short in so many areas. TESO has people behind it that understood DAoC RvR better, and so far it looks like they got it a lot closer.

Gw2 is starting it's 2nd WvW Seaons on 28th March - so lvl up and join the fun on Jade Quarry, Blackgate or Tarnished Coast ( RP-server).
