Rags to Riches

ESO is a great game for those who like rags to riches types of games. Yes, all mmos start you off in crappy armor with a crappy weapon of course but teso does it better.

Why?

Two reasons:

1. You start the game by basically escaping out of hell. It does not get lower than that.

2. The main reason, the game is slow paced. It takes time to get to the highest level. It takes time to explore. It takes time in general to level up.

The slow pacing of the game helps with making it feel like the adventure is...important i suppose is a good word for it.

Like in most MMO's when you max out, and skyrim, when you look back at level 5, level 15, level 25 and so on. You get the feeling of accomplishment.

I like the fact that you cant just buy your way to the top while crafting.

Researching trait lines will take time LOTS OF TIME

So if you want to become a proficient MASTER blacksmith capable of making any piece with any trait your looking at 15 months (1 year 3 months) total if my calculations are correct

Leveling taking longer doesnt matter.... Because you are either

    A) immersed in stories and lore while PvE ing

    B) having fun in PvP..

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Still helps with rags to riches type of feeling. So does immersion honestly. PvP... sure, starting out as a novice recruit then leveling to a *whatever the highest PvP title is* helps with a rags to riches feeling.

I hope you are wrong... what is the point of being able to get all crafting skills if it takes you 6 years to actually research stuff. Bummer.

Spending 15 months to get to the top only to realise that nothing sets you apart from anyone else at your level is a waste of time.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

I believe you can not be wearing the best gear in game if it hasn't been through the crafting system.

    Traits:

Heavy, Medium, Light armor, and Shield use the same traits.

Weapons, Bows and any Staff use the same traits.

    Research:

Is by specific item/gear. 1st trait take 6 hrs, 2nd trait take 12hrs, 3rd trait take 24hrs, 4th trait take 48hrs, each time is double of the last one.

So you guys can do the math . In theory it will take 32 days to finish research on the last trait of a specific item.

If one don't put any skill points on that specific research passive.  It would take close to 64 days to learn ALL the Traits on just 1 gear/item.

Skill points: To max out any craft it will take this amount of Skill points.

    Alchemy : 19 Skill Points

    Blacksmithing : 24 Skill Points

    Clothing : 24 Skill Points

    Enchanting : 22 Skill Points

    Provisioning : 24 Skill Points

    Woodworking : 24 Skill Points

    So.....

32 days for entire traits research per item

    7 wep

    7 armor

    7 + 7 = 14 (items)

14 (items) x 32 (days per item to atain all trait lines) = 448 days to max say Blacksmith

So around 15 months (1 year 3 months) total to become a master blacksmith

I prefer the Asian themed MMO where you start the game dressed like a fashion pimp sporting a 27 foot sword with every NPC you pass tossing flowers at your feet telling you how amazing you are.

What's with this whole social status character development thing? I don't get it.......shouldn't I be a GOD at level 1?

Did you take into consideration the Metallurgy passive that reduces research time up to 20% and allows you to research up to three traits simultaneously?

    http://esohead.com/skills/48160-metallurgy

I believe all lines have a similar passive.

    What are your other Hobbies?

Gaming is Dirt Cheap compared to this...

What MMO doesn't have a "rags to riches" story?  If you already had everything you ever wanted at the beginning, what would be the motivation to go through all the trials and tribulations to get what you already have?  That is what's fundamentally wrong with the F2P model in general and these outside gold sellers:  It's a way for lazy players to skip to the end.  They just don't realize that the fun is supposed to be in the JOURNEY, not the destination.

    Aah no I did not.

Damn I was actually hoping for a hard game where you had to actually work for reputation & could make a name for yourself.

Guess everyone can do everything & wont need each others help lol

While I didn't exactly define it as rags to riches, during the last beta I was tooling around through levels 6 or 7 and wondered what seemed 'off' about my character (when I was in 3rd person or the skills window).

Then I realized I still didn't have any shoes at that level (having run out of hell so fast the rags burned off my feet I guess)!

And I was still having a hellava (pun intended) good time.

while metallurgy I to III do reduce times and allow 3 researches at a time, you still have to get to BS lvl 8 , then spend the precious skill points.

Soooo not 'everybody' will be masters or spend that much time/points into it.

Plus all the other parts in the various crafting trees take points also..

It will still take time, not everyone will also back-to-back-to-back research... you still have to find the items/types before you can deconstruct/research them ...

    :)

There is no end game for crafting! When you are done - you are done. Money? In game money for your crafts?

Are you kidding? I  wish crafting would have no max level. For me (as I expect for many other players) crafting is not a little additional way to dominate in combat, but a big part of this game. Big, if not major!

Nah you have this all wrong.  Hell is a much better place than heaven and the devil is a far more moral being than Jesus or the other 2/3rds of god.

God kills this many people in the bible

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWHzB6H718w

This is how many the Devil killed in the bible

If you dont believe me read it yourself in the bible.
