A bit confused. Someone on reddit makes a post about what appears to be second hand information, and everyone is accepting it as gospel? Don't see anyone at Tamrielfoundry, twitter or other avenues talking about this. I wouldn't assume this information is actually accurate until a more authoritative source comes along.
edit: Don't see a peep about this on the bethsoft forums

not saying it is true but its a leak and probably not set in stone yet. just because they are trying it doesn't mean it will be that way come launch.
that said, i noticed they said it teleport's you to your home city then gives you the option to go back?
IMO it should just give you the option to leave whenever you want, if anything.
not that it is a big deal but that just kind of seems backwards to me.
Well the option to skip the tutorial islands is good but as I remember the first quests at the city were level 8 which means you will have to deal with level 8 quests while you are only level 3 yourself. And you will also miss the skyshards at the previous zones.
Kind of a hardcore mode if you ask me. But the choice is yours.

That part of beta-- the stuff in the Private Test Server is still sort of under NDA. No one is going to use their well-known user name to leak info... this is why we're getting the info from random people...but other random people are confirming it and no random people are denying it...
so... take it for what it's worth. Personally, I'm leaning toward believing it though.

right! i sure as hell wont be skipping it if it means less skill points. i didn't really mind the starter islands that much anyways and it's only gonna get better from there.

Yep, good news. Now they should put it in for pvp too
That might cause too much lag/issues.
What the fuck is the point of collision detection if its not in PvP?
Indeed. Collision detection doesn't matter in PVE, it's in PVP where it matters.
I like that they have added it in, if it's true, but they added it to the wrong game mode in my opinion.
Here is a qoute from a ESO dev:
"Having worked on games with player collision in PVP before, we found that it was far more valuable to offer players larger battles with better server and client performance than smaller battles with player collision due to the hit servers and clients take when implementing such a feature. That’s not to say we didn’t consider it at one time and while it is always interesting to put collision in a PVP game, when you’re dealing with masses of players it becomes more of a frustration point than a tactical advantage (speaking from personal experience trying to setup a shield wall behind a Keep door then watching players still find ways through it)."
None of these RUMORED changes would be enough to get me to change my mind on NOT playing this game. While the mechanics of the game are just as good as any other MMO out there, they are not unique enough in gameplay options to nor true enough to the Elder Scrolls single player experience to compel me to play. If you like MMO's in general like WoW, SWTOR or you name it....then by all means go ahead. However, I won't be there....my choice.
(NOTE: I was going to pre-order until I played about 30 hours of beta.)

Thanks for the information. Also as a sidenote, I m having steak for dinner! Still not sure what I'm wearing tomorrow though.
Who freakin cares?
For all those saying that collision should be in pvp they are out of their MINDS. It would kill fluidity in Cyrodill, it would be a bumpfest, incredibly frustrating.
Sure I can see the good side of it, making player formations having a bigger impact, specially to protect siege weapons. The good side of it doesn't overcome the fact that you d be bumping against hundreds of players, unable to move properly.
Maybe adding collision against enemy players ONLY would be less frustrating. They should add collision against siege weapons though, not to move inside of them.
Also, Cyrodill needs Anchor events. In keeps and villages! That would keep players on their toes and even having to fall back sometimes to protect other places or just because an Anchor kicked their butts out of there.
Collision detection with NPCs just got put in. You can also now skip the starter islands and go straight to the first city in your area. You can port back to starter islands if you want. Mob difficulty increase slightly starting at level 5. Buffs and nerfs to class abilities Fixed an issue where many abilities were not properly obeying line of sight rules.

Cyrodiil PvP is already awesome. Adding collision to it would be even better, but it would very hard to solve the problems that would arise (Lag being the major one). This can be something they can work on in the future. . For now, I'm absolutely positively ecstatic that it's made it to PvE!
Good to know my continuous harassement of ZOS on the beta forums ("there's no collision! no collision I tell you") finally got somewhere.
Just like others have said. Glad they are listening to their future customers. I wonder what they buffed and nerfed?

I just glanced a post on reddit that talked about the starter island being removed on the PST.

Interesting move from Zenimax Online, i am curious if this is a consequence of the negative reviews the tutorial islands got.
Of course it's a consequence of the negative reviews. Those negatives reviews almost sunk the game before it started as 99% of all the press reviews were neutral to negative.
Good thing is it forced them to drop the NDA way earlier then expected for some of the long term beta players to counteract a lot of this negativity. Apparently the game opens up and becomes quite fun past those early levels. I would like to hope they do at least.

Why start swearing?
Putting collision detection brings a lot of lag into the picture when it comes to PvP. I'm not saying you shouldn't. But when they amount of players is ~1000+ in a single map it'll be problematic.
I did post this aswell in another thread.
2000 players will be the max amount in the pvp area.
Now if they'll get rid of the explorers pack and replace with something not noxious or just remove race faction lock entirely if that's what they want I'd be willing to give this game a chance.

Those are supposed PTS patchnotes, so i guess they won't be posted on any official channels, probably because they are under NDA.
Of course i wouldn't take anything for granted until it's official.

Simple, just do a pre-order and you wont have any faction lock with races. You can choose whatever race you want and whatever faction.

You want no faciton lock, well there is an option for it. Donno what is your point.

Exactly my thoughts. Imagine player blocking own people i.e. gates, very narrow path on the castle walls
Well we will see....it has pros and cons

Let's party like it is 1863!
It gives melee combat a HECK of a lot more weight and believability, that's the point- and that's what closed beta testers have been saying.

I find it really suspicious that with all the negatives this game received for it's starting experience you would brush it off as invalid.
