I keep reading contradicting articles regarding a cash shop in the game. Some sources say it will be implented in the game, and some deny it completely... I was just wondering if anyone has any actual information regarding its existence…?

You stay sassy!
When I was playing the beta this weekend, somebody was saying that you can buy unlimited lockpicks for a certain amount when the game goes live…

You're not saying you actually believed them, are you ?
No, it seemed slightly crazy to me. However, sometimes even crazy ideas make you wonder. I also heard the thing about name changes like someone already mentioned. I had an issue with inventory space, but they already expanding it in the next patch.

Yeah, I know. The whole idea did not sound very logical to me either. However, sometimes you get surprised by what game companies decide to do!

I havent read or seen anything on Cash Shops in ESO. Ill be looking into the links provided tho.
I can see a name change even a race or sex change in. Those are usally seperate services for nay MMO.
So it's similar to the crysta shop in FF14.
That changes the way I look at the future of ESO a lot. These sorts of account modified set ups are done so you can buy expansions and date back to SWG days. It doesn't mean anything in terms of their future as cash shop games.
there will be no new OP ducks available in the cash store.. only cosmetic new skins for current available ducks.
although if you want to take your beta duck to release, you will need to keester said duck and 'sneak' into release
a lot of people here on the mmorpg.com forums spread misinformation and claim it has a cash shop.
people here will go to great lengths to slander a game they don't want to play, extremely selfish people i might add.
Everything is subject to change anyway.
Developer always say a bunch of things when game is in beta or new. And things start to change later.

“There won’t be anything like bonus points, but we will have a shop to buy kind of fun stuff and services too like name changes and things like that,” Matt Firor said.
What does he consider "fun stuff"? Why isn't said "fun stuff" already included into the price I would already be paying?
Maybe because this link, http://elderscrollsotr.mymiddleearth.com/2013/08/23/elder-scrolls-online-will-have-microstransactions/ , says otherwise? To quote, "In speaking to AusGamers at GamesCom, The Elder Scrolls Online General Manager Matt Firor. Matt Firor said the game, in addition to the monthly fee, would offer players a chance to spend more on items in an in-game cash shop."

Probably mounts, pets, name changes, gender changes, etc. Why not cash in more on top of a sub, worked for Blizzard.
Or just one of those things (name changes), since, as has repeatedly been stated in this thread had you bothered to read, that comment from Firor was clarified by Sage as being incorrect.
That isn't to say that they won't someday add in purchases like you've described, but as of now it's not happening, and you're adding to the spread of misinformation.
There's no cash shop. It's just a pet topic of F2P trolls based on what Matt Firor said back in August (which was later denied by Paul Sage)... you either heard a troll in beta chat or someone who heard it from someone who heard it from a troll.
