What's the deal with the cash shop?

The "Cash Shop" is something invented by those that keep saying the game will go free to play 48 hours after launch.  It's false and misleading.

Anyone who knows about the game understands that the only thing which will be offered is paid account or character services from their website, just like other MMO's have offered for years.

There may or may not be a cash shop.  There is a pay wall, with respect to the Imperial race, and the ability to create characters of certain races in certain alliances.  Hence, the slippery slope is already firmly established.

Well, funny thing that, during the beta the survey didn't work, in fact every time I created a new character I had to disable it in the add-on's screen to get rid of the annoying error window that wouldn't go away.

I did get an update mini-window appear on my screen, but every time I tried to open/install it I would get another error saying the survey was already running.

So, Monday, after the beta I had to completely close all clients and then install the new survey....only to find out you can only complete the survey while you are in the beta, which was closed of course.

So it was a pretty neat trick on their part, maybe next time.

Or it will just error out again.

There is no cash shop.  This is the kind of person I referred to above.  Thanks for providing the perfect example of providing misleading information.

Hmm, so someday maybe we'll be able to buy level 50 (or 80 or whatever characters) or pink flying ponies.

It is accurate to say that there will be no in-game cash shop at launch.   Beyond that, no one can really say.

Accept the fact.  There is no cash shop in game.  There are no current plans to add one.  If that changes, feel free to come back and let us know.  Until then, your speculation has no basis in reality.

They might let us run our own servers for the game some day too, but you don't see people posting about it do you?  Hey..while we're at it, why not talk about some player dungeon creator they might add..or could..but hasn't been even discussed....

It's also accurate to say that now there are no motor bikes in ESO. You want to start a thread about motor bikes in the game?

You will be able to upgrade your account to collectors edition which unlocks the imperial race. Without paying for the race in a "shop," you will not have access to it. There will also apparently be "fun stuff" available as well. I assume they mean cosmetic things, but who knows.

I have seen some dogs in game I would want for a pet if they offered them in the shop.
