How many hours will you play daily?

KnotwoodKnotwood Member CommonPosts: 1,103

So here we are, almost launch.  One giant server, and millions of players.  Just how many hours will people be putting into this game when it launches on a daily base?

POLL EDIT :   16   =  12-16  Hrs. per day.

During the week? 1 - 3 hours depending on the day.

During the weekend? 4 - 6. Unless we have RL events.

3-6 is my average, although there will be times when I will marathon it late into the evening.  I usually only have time in the mornings (EST), but that seems to work for me as people are in school or at work.  By that, I mean that there is much more harvesting node availability for me early in the day.  I plan to work on 3 crafters simultaneously.

8-12 weekdays due to work, 18-20 on weekends. Probably will take 1 or 2 days off of work after release weekend and pound out 20 hours per day or more as well.

    6.6 minutes per day.

Really though, I'll probably play a good 8 hours per day for the 1st week and then go back to a more common (for me) 3 hours or so in the afternoon into the evening.

I've already told the family to plan to not have any need of me the 1st 2 weekends though, lol.

Unsure and even though I've preordered I still havn't spent more then an hour straight in any of the beta without feeling a bit bored.  On top of this it is the first big named MMO I've preordered and have not taken at least the 1st week of release on vacation from work.

Trying a whole new thing but I suspect it won't end pretty.  And by pretty I mean not sticking around for more then a month or 2.  Was seriously hoping my short term infatuation with ARPG's was a phase in my gaming life but to this date I still spend the majority of my gaming time in Path of Exile.  Arguably my most successful game since WoW.  No other MMO has kept me longer then 2-3 months since I quit WoW right after Cata but here it is middle of March and I've been going strong in PoE for 4 1/2 months.  SO shook up in fact I am seriously contemplating playing D3 and the expansion instead of ESO.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

I have a feeling that early access starts 1st April for us standard players.

I hope to play from the servers go up until I need to sleep

If the servers fail,  I hope its a good joke we have.   Given login queues on every game at launch.

#ignore /ignore or just turn on tune in and drop out

Xpansions Move your body (higher) Elevation,  was OPTIMISM really the label ?

Think I might be on ibuprofen at launch this time and water, iced.

Might have been last time, I definitly remember the physio was sometime around then

At launch its usually 3-6 hours for about a week then after that it dips off to maybe 1-3 hours a day for a month, By then I am either sticking with the game full time or cancelling my sub.

As with every newly released game... every hour I am not asleep or at work... or asleep at work. :)

First 2 weeks will be 16+ hours per day (if the servers stay up). I have 2 weeks' leave.

Thereafter it will be back to normal, so around 3 hours per day, bit more on weekends.

Anyone who plays video games 8 hours a day has a serious problem.

Gaming is nothing diferant then any other hobby men or women have had in the past let me enlighten you...

    Car Hobby -

Back in the day men used to have car hobbies wherethey would work on cars 8+ hours a day,  the wife is telling him to come inside and stop working on cars, eat and go back to working on cars...    That went over well in the past, back then the wife would never think of taking a golf club to your car.   But now, the wife smashes your xbox and demands you give her attention!  (its on youtube, honest)

    The Bar -

Instead of going to the bar to socialize, people have that in game these days,  gone is the days where wives would hunt down their husbands in the bar and get mad at them for spending all day in the bar with their friends.   Now a wife just has to open up the bedroom door and say "OH, Right where I left you."  and be happy you dint spend the entire rent check on booze.

    Shopping -

Instead of the wife going to the shopping mall all day long 8+ hours, shes at home in front of a TV getting her hobby from a video game instead of spending all your hard earned cash!   When you ask your wife what she bought today she'll tell you a vanity item in the cash shop that cosed 5 bucks.  sure beats her telling you she spent 100 bucks on some purse or pair of shoes.

So you see, its not really a problem as much as it is a Hobby,  a hobby that's much more cheaper then driking at a bar all day,  working on cars, or your wife going on shopping sprees with her friends all day.    You should be thankful we have a great form of entertainment such as videogames people can be addicted to instead of high cash spending hobbies.

Moderation is the key. Excessive anything leads to being a problem.

A lot of 1-3 hour people.  Which means researching being time based was the right choice for low hour players.

I agree. If you play more than 8 hours a day..you dont have a problem..you have a serious problem.

I think I'll probably start around 3-4 hrs but  try not to neglect the gym, tennis and other stuff so it will become around 2-3 after the first couple of weeks :-)

4-6 hours+ during the 30day period, might stay like that or dwindle afterwards :D
