Can someone tell me if work is exempt from this "being a problem"? Cause I'd sure as hell love to figure out a way not to have to do that 9 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Now I will, in my opinion say. 8+ hours a day, during a work night would be on the verge to being obsessive ( I wouldnt go so far as saying addicted). But times are different nowadays. A lot of MMO gamers tend to be single, or have a GF or BF who games with them, or even friends and family.
If you stop and think about it our parents, whether youre in your teens, or twenties, or forties, probably have spent or still spend 6 to 8 hours a night watching TV. And if you had a stay at home mom, she probably watched 8 hours of daytime soaps and then another 6 to 8 hours in the evening.
I think MMOs and MMO gamers tend to be looked at as being anti-social be others, even other gamers, and so they think there must be something inherently wrong with them and / or the game.
Me, Im maybe a 1-3 hour a night player, and if I have nothing going on during the weekend I may do 10 to 12 hours a day of gaming split between ESO and PlanetSide 2 with breaks in between.
Hell, if I really want to be honest I probably spend about 6 hours a night gaming or doing something gaming related. Lets see tonight was about 2 hours here at MMORPG.com, about 2 1/2 hours playing Skyrim, about an hour in PlanetSide 2, and about an hour on YouTube watching a some of my favorite "Lets Play" gaming channels, (along with some funny cat videos too).
What I trying to say is its only a problem if whatever it is, gaming, (or even watching TV) becomes the only thing that a person wants to do and it interferes with eating, or sleeping, or work, or socializing with friends and family.
I havent turned on a TV set since they went from analog to digital..what is it like 5 years ago? I can count how many hours I spend a month watching TV shows, and Im including pay cable, on 1 hand. Yeah serious, about 5 hours a month is all I watch of TV. I may watch about 5-7 DVD movie, or Netflix movies a month, but thats about it.
You know what is even funnier than all this? Is most people that Ive told about my TV watching habits think "I have a problem" because I dont watch enough TV.
So before any of you label someone as having a problem, take a look at what you do after work. I bet money that if youre posting on a gaming MMO website you dont take a 1 mile walk every night, or jog 3 miles, or work out at the gym for a few hours, or go do something "productive".
And if someone says "Im taking care of my kids", that usually means the kids are on the floor in the living room while theyre watching TV, or playing on their smart-phone.
Because most people who are judgmental of others are usually hypocrites, and extreme hypocrites at that.

Car Hobby -
Back in the day men used to have car hobbies wherethey would work on cars 8+ hours a day, the wife is telling him to come inside and stop working on cars, eat and go back to working on cars... That went over well in the past, back then the wife would never think of taking a golf club to your car. But now, the wife smashes your xbox and demands you give her attention! (its on youtube, honest)
The Bar -
Instead of going to the bar to socialize, people have that in game these days, gone is the days where wives would hunt down their husbands in the bar and get mad at them for spending all day in the bar with their friends. Now a wife just has to open up the bedroom door and say "OH, Right where I left you." and be happy you dint spend the entire rent check on booze.
Shopping -
Instead of the wife going to the shopping mall all day long 8+ hours, shes at home in front of a TV getting her hobby from a video game instead of spending all your hard earned cash! When you ask your wife what she bought today she'll tell you a vanity item in the cash shop that cosed 5 bucks. sure beats her telling you she spent 100 bucks on some purse or pair of shoes.
So you see, its not really a problem as much as it is a Hobby, a hobby that's much more cheaper then driking at a bar all day, working on cars, or your wife going on shopping sprees with her friends all day. You should be thankful we have a great form of entertainment such as videogames people can be addicted to instead of high cash spending hobbies.
No matter if its 8 hour gaming or 8 hours fiddling around with your car every day, It's an addiction.
I expect I will buy the game.I also expect I will spend an extraordinary amount of time in the game. BUT I expect to explore every nook and crannie....craft a lot....and just have fun in Cyrodiil.And level up ...whenever.

I went with 3-6, it really depends on how much I enjoy the game and what other things I have going on at the time.

Everytime America invades a country or it gets put into the WTO, that is a new resource of workers and raw product at a insanely cheap price, that you can utilize to sell your crap to the rest of the world, just like Wallyworld, Gapsters, Nikegoddess, ect. Learn many languages and start trading my friend, use the internet to sell your crap world wide. Good luck.
I be playing mostly at Weekends until May, when my courses finish and don't start again until September. Also I work full-time, so do want some time to myself, and do other hobbies.

Your question implies(to me) a drive to level up.
I expect I will buy the game.I also expect I will spend an extraordinary amount of time in the game. BUT I expect to explore every nook and crannie....craft a lot....and just have fun in Cyrodiil.And level up ...whenever.
I wish I could play many hours a day, but as an old man of 46, my stamina is not what it once was.
2 hours a day for me.
I do know to call a doctor immediately if a game session lasts more than 4 hours.
Pace yourself. Its not about about how long you play. its about the quality of gamming time you put in.
