This Beta Weekend Change Anyone's Mind About the Game?

Just curious how this beta has affected peoples' opinions of the game.

For some reason I find myself not really wanting to play the game anymore after playing this build and I don't know why.  :/

I'm the same, not enjoying playing anymore. It was more enjoyable last beta. I haven't played much either, last beta was about 6 hours trying all the classes out and for a couple of hours last night... nothing as yet today.

After 2 beta weekends I decided it is not worth 60 bucks up front. I don't think the game is bad by any means though. I'm not hating on it or anything, I am just indifferent.

I just feel like I have done this all before in other games in the past.

Quest hubs, much handholding, kill x, interact with x, bring back x amount of x. Rinse repeat.

The PvP is ok though I enjoyed DAoC's version better. I can see ESO becoming better in the future though through feedback and polish (this goes for PvE content too)

I'm not a fan of the cash shop at such an early stage offering horses which would be a major gold sink in the early game economy.

I might pick up the game if it matures well over the summer.

The game looks nice, I like the style...the substance for me though is just "meh".

I actually canceled my pre-order on Imperial Edition earlier today. At first I was SO excited about the whole game but now it just... Don't know what it is. I could be playing it right now - but I really just don't have the 'burn' for it.

It was a nice game, just felt bit simple to me. So few skills or spells, pretty limited character builds and it really doesn't require any thinking or tactics to play it.

I had been reserving judgement, but it wasn't looking too good. Played it some today and yesterday and I actually think it's pretty good. I won't be buying it or anything, but I'll be watching it. It makes just enough concessions to be an MMO while still having a decent ES feel. That said, I've only been able to do half the things I have because there were other, higher level players around. It tries to promote the free-roaming of other ES games, but in the end you're still locked in by level. Quests are excellent though (for MMO standards).

yea I cancelled my preorder as well because I don't like the fact that they fixed thousands of bugs and implemented just a few weeks before the game so many of the things that many of the forum folks kept whining about...DUH! lol

I couldnt get myself past the first beta. Those who are buying, hope you enjoy it more than i did =)
  • ZebladeZeblade Member UncommonPosts: 931

Well 1st ran perfect last beta then Fri ran it and says "access invalid" lol So went to Mac and it ran great.

Yeah I noticed they change some things and was thinking, was combat always like this? It was awful.

For me and this may be just ME but its 2014 not 2004 and still NPC's just stand there. I watched wild life "WOLFS" ALL take 7 steps then turn and repeat. If your looking for that old Morrowind that was empty, no life this is the game for you.

Again for me I want something different and the asking price then $15 (not much ) but there is nothing in this game thats new thats different. I played like 1h and thats it. Lol sad I went back to play diablo 3

Oh and is it just me or do most toons all look (clothes) like its green? So yeah was going to buy but not now. Maybe 6 months when there is 1/2 price off or something I will try it.

I uninstalled the beta a few hours ago. Just an atypical mmo. Not very fun.

Changed for me from "giving it the Xth chance" to "no way i'm going to take this crap one more minute".

I had not played the beta yet and was worried about having pre ordered the digi deluxe. After having played the beta I can say I am now glad I bought it.
  • BigdaddyxBigdaddyx Member UncommonPosts: 2,039
I am surprised at so many people canceling their pre orders.
  • SomeOldBlokeSomeOldBloke Member UncommonPosts: 2,167
After my earlier post I went away and thought about why I'm no longer enjoying it. I think it's because this beta feels like the game is on rails whereas last beta it felt like I could explore more like Elder Scrolls should be.I will try a few more hours but if it doesn't improve I will be canceling my pre-order.

I was so hyped but now I feel buzz killed. Not sure why I think the thought of the Mount for sale and buying Imperial thinking I would own everything and hearing the news there be no mounts/pets/cosmetics then they announce today there will had really put me down. %50 of the people so far on MMORPG are bothered. I guess it bothered me more then most.

I played the previous beta weekend and uninstalled it by Sunday night. I received an invite for this weekend but couldn't be bothered to reinstall - so no my minds not changed, I'm still not gonna play it :P

You hear that? That's the sound of inevitability. No surprises here. The ESO team ignored the best parts of ES games and made a typical MMO with an ES skin. Something no one wanted, least of all ES fans. It's a shame when I'm sure the devs put a lot of time into developing ESO, but the leads either never gave a crap what the fans wanted or just blew smoke up the stakeholders' asses and made the only type of game they knew they could make - an MMORPG clone of every other MMO out there. You'd think devs would learn from the past (SWTOR).

I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

Nope.  I tried the beta again for the 3rd time to make sure I didn't miss anything.  It looks like I'm still not getting the game.  Even more so now with the recent developments.

I'm not enjoying the game this time round, I'm in the process of cancelling my pre-order.

It's good enough for F2P, but no more...

I dont know what you guys are waiting for or hoping for.

Gamers buy and play games especially new games, we consume content in the pursuit of having fun..

How is this game not worth 60 bones to you?  Stick of truth took me 12 hours to clear and was worth it, ESO guarantees more than 12 hours prob a good solid month minimum of fun times with hope that it holds my attention longer.

How is that not worth $60 compared to any other game?

Is it perfect? No.  Did I have fun and want to play more after trying beta?  Hell ya

I look forward to consuming this game like I do every game and if I bore after a month oh well wildstar it is although I kinda found wildstar a little 2 crazy but I will still buy and play it if I am done with or when I am done with ESO

$60 for a month of fun is cheap by any standards compared to other ways of having fun, gaming is a very economic hobby I blow more than 60 bones in a night out on the weekend how is ESO not worth 60?  the awsner is it is worth 60 if you dont have the cash thats a diff issue I respect that and wish you well in the next f2p game but if you arent broke buy ESO its worth it, lets have some fun...

Because its the same thing as every other MMO that people already own. why spend 60 bucks for a new skin to do the same quest we have done a million times.

once the hype wears off people start to see this.

Not pre-ordering and not sure if I am going to ever buy it. I get bored after 10 minutes of log in. I keep trying as I love the IP, but it just does not feel right for me. I am just not having fun :(

I'm an idealist. I try to avoid developers who are shitting on their customers. I made that mistake one time too many. Yes this game is fun (for me) but with buying it I'm supporting their foul behavior. So that's it for me.
