"The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has invested $2.3 billion since 2000 in new visions of education, with smaller schools and more personalized instruction to prepare young people for the working world and post-high school learning.
The foundation has programs in 42 states and the District of Columbia; it supports more than 1,500 high schools about half totally new and the others redesigned. Its three scholarship programs, designed to fill tuition gaps left by other grants and aid, have assisted more than 10,000 students"
Thats $2.3 BILLION! If only the american government cared as much about education.. but then that kinda goes against the policy of keep the public stupid and drugged up on anti depressants doesnt it.. Wonder how much of the money Redhat and Steve Jobs makes goes back to the public..

He probally does it to survive. I mean, he probally has one the biggest guilty consience ever...he's ripped so many people off, stabbed so many companies in the back, and ruined so many jobs for people.

The problem is that Bill and Microsoft also throw there money into the gay agenda movement and many other liberal groups.
You can only buy so many skyscrapers. Why not put that money into something that matters?

42 Finally, a poor widow came up and put in two coins that were worth only a few pennies.
43 Jesus told his disciples to gather around him. Then he said:
I tell you that this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
44 Everyone else gave what they didnt need. But she is very poor and gave everything she had. Now she doesnt have a cent to live on.

Can't say much more about him. Granted some of those donations are for tax breaks, but nonetheless, the fact remains hes donated billions of dollars to help develop 3rd world countries across the world and combat AIDS.
Compare that with what the rest of us have done to help others in our lives and its pretty humbling.
Except under Article 1 Section 8 of the constitution the U.S. federal government does not have the right to spend money on education.
And even statewise we see that trying to use the route of public education is a complete and utter failure no matter how much money is invested into it.

Hmm, I don't see the problem there. He did a GOOD thing.
And yes, he has done bad things in the past, but really, who hasn't? He is like anyone else, if you were in his spot, you would do the same. Right now you might say that you wouldn't, but most likely, you would.

i dont have to pretend anyone who made that comment had their head up their ass, because they more then likely did.
WITHOUT microsoft and Bill gates, the world would be at least 5years technologically backwards, and games twice that.
the reason i say this is computers before DOS, and windows both were made by microsft(or DOS, was made by the same PEOPLe, not company). You would have ur apple systems, ur IBM systems, and at least 6 or 7 incompatible Operating systems.
Can you imagine trying to share scientific knowledge without a standard operating system like windows????? that is why without windows and dos teh world would be technologicall behind where it is.
Because if idea sharing is a pain in teh ass less ideas are shared, theirfore the great minds cant work together as well.
imagine if einstein and teh whole manhatten propject team had had our communication capabilites. then we would be 100 years more advanced tehn where we are now.
AND bill gates only PERSONALLY DONATED 2.3 billion. MICROSOFT DONATES ALSo, so altogether the donations could be above 20 billion because of Gates. He MAKES microsoft the company donate. not just for tax reasons, my dad is A CPA, and explained to me the fact that in fact microsoft gets less donation tax benefits then smaller companies.
and cant u consider the fact that windows is actually affordable, and is at just about the lowest price it could be to make a profit a gift enough, how many people has that helped.
When i say windows is at the lowest price to make a profit i mean it. do you have any idea how much it costs to support, update, publish something of that magnitude???? I mean you also have to invest in the next version too.

the reason i commonly spell the "teh" is because if you know your keyboard the keys T, and E are on the left hand of the keyboard.
and my left hand types 30 percent faster then my right hand. i theorize because most of the mistakes i make are putting letters on the left prematurely before ones that go on the right.

And before his death he gave away all but 5% of his cash.
Andrew Carnigy was also controversial in his promise of how he would treat workers and how he did treat workers. But there is enough evidence to either say he treated them well and Roosevelt was trying to shut him down cus he was a total monopoly on american steel, or that he really was a cruel bastard.
but Carnigy did improve two things in american industry he showed how if u own the Mine, Processing plants, Facturies, and the distributing. Not only will you make the worlds largest fortune u will make the most cost efficent buisness ever.
So even though gates and Carnigy are two compltely different figures i think that gates did look at carnigies example.

First of all, 2% would be way more than that. Second of all, you can't know for sure what it will be, he isn't dead yet, so he is still making lots of dough.
IF he dies now though, his kids would be getting WAY MORE than a million (a million would mean that Bill Gates has only 50 million dollars, and we all know it is WAY, and I mean WAY more than that). Simple math.
We probably can't even make 2% of his money in 20 lifetimes.
