Uhgg why does GW2 get credit for this PVP style :P. Fixed
i didnt play Daoc thats why i compared it to GW2 because its what i have played. but does it have those stupid icons on the map showing everybody in the world where the fighting is happening? i hated that so much in GW2, everytime we tried to pvp in a smaller number the zerg could just see that icon and come swarm over us. was really dumb.
Yes, it does show icons on the map where the fighting is at. I don't know what conditions cause that to appear, whether there is X amount of people fighting in that particular area or what.

Everyone can stealth
C) Combat is actiony, though not as much as Tera and resource driven more than gcd driven
D) PvP map is huge but contains limited secondary objectives

End game is PvP. You can enter Cyrodiil at level 10 and start PvP'ing if you want. I believe its also possible to level through PvP but not sure how efficient it is compared to leveling through PvE.
This is open world PvP -- three alliances against each other. It's similar to WvW from Guild Wars 2 but more like RvR in Dark Age of Camelot, if you've played either of those games. If you're looking for PvP similar to WoW or SWTOR, where its 10v10, 8v8 battlegrounds or arena based, you won't find it here, at least not at launch.
Um...this is 100% not owpvp...regardless of whether you like the game or not...you que into pvp...that's not owpvp. Three factions do que into a large area for pvp however and basically battle over control points.
I think it can be called open world PvP. Cyrodiil is pretty huge. Yes, you do que up to get out there but this isn't your typical battleground map from games like WoW where its X vs. X amount of people. If you wanna get technical about it and say its not open world PvP then I guess refer it to open zone PvP.....whatever.
No, it can not be called Wpvp. It is very good for what it is, but it is not Wpvp., it's Apvp, or area pvp/Zone pvp.
World pvp does not need to be redefined, for Cyrodiil to look more favorable. Cyrodiil stands on it's own merit.

To me, its open world PvP.
That still doesn't make you right.
Like I said Wpvp does not need to be redefined for Cyrodiil to fit. Cyrodill is the model example for separate PvE/PvP. It has nothing to be ashamed of.

I think the cool thing about having such a huge map is that it would take much longer for the zerg to arrive if your battle is marked on the map. It gives the smaller skirmishes more time to play out than you would get with a tiny map. With GW2's map, the largest zerg on the map can be anywhere and everywhere in a moments notice.

Never really understood this discrepancy. Trying to call Cyrodil a BG is a little odd to me. A BG is a one off non-persistent match, that is not what Cyrodil is. It's an open zone built for PVP. Not highly unlike the frontiers in DAOC. It seems like a bit of a misnomer to call it much else but OWPVP. There's PVE there, there are dungeons, there's a city, and many many things in between. To say it's an area just about capturing points is highly inaccurate.
so is this game open world pvp? or is it only in one zone?
It's one zone. But, it has been stated that it is the same size as the entire map from Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

It's huge and Epic, and once guild auction houses are in, people will live there. The only reason I see that I have to leave right now is for low level gathering.

If you call 2000 people in the same cohesive pvp world an "instance", then yes. That's actually pretty epic compared to pretty much 99.9999% of the MMOs out there.

so there is only one copy of it? its not instanced like in the sense of conans zones? thats what im wondering here. when the guy said there are many instances so the wait shouldnt by long thats what im assuming he meant?
from what i understand a Zone is a area you load into but there isnt copys of it.
instances is you load in and there are say 5 - 20 copys of the same area and people are spread out threw that so its not so crowded. some games call them channels i guess.

Nope. It's nothing like Conan. It's one cohesive world called Cyrodiil. The instances are called "campaigns". In other words, you can't pack 4 million people in a single pvp world. So they have it broken up in separate "campaigns" that have 2000 people per campaign. That's the only "instancing" that is going on here. Which I am perfectly fine with since I can understand how 4 million people packed in one zone would bring their servers to a screeching halt.

There are many instances of it but you're saved to one in particular though there is some mechanism for guesting on other versions of... I would say it's a bit like how gw2 handles servers.
As for is it owPvP? Hell no it's not, when you segregate 98% of the PvE content into PvP-free zones no you can not call your game an owPvP game. Whether or not it's awesome or how many people are participating is a completely different issue.

pve seemed like a boring quest grind, which you will be forced to do to gain lvl 10 to enter pvp, and probably will have to continue to do to be relevant.
what a min, its instanced? so this pvp area has copys of itself like that kind of instance?
Campaigns are essentially servers, more so than instances. WHen you pick a campaign you choose one much like you do a server in a typical MMO you're then binded to that campaign, you can take on another as your main guest campaign, but you gain no realm rank when you're there.

NO the only way to do so will be handled like a typical server transfer (pay for it), at least that's how they talked about it earlier in development.

If a open world PVP game's server is full you have to queue to enter the game so I'm not sure I see the difference. ESO has PVP zones and PVE zones but that's doesn't prevent it from being a open world PVP unless your definition of that is PVP has to be possible in the entire world just not part of it. I personally don't see the need for the whole world to be open PVP to be a open world PVP game, it just needs to be large and persistent which I think is hard to argue ESO isn't both of those. And there are significant bonuses to you if your campaign is doing well not to mention guild stores in keeps your side owns.

The cost to transfer is in PVP points not real money and there is a time limit on how many times you can change campaigns a day. It's not like you have to pull out your credit card to move campaigns. They are also significantly lowering the cost and lockout of transferring at launch to give people a change to group up with guildies and friends.

World pvp does not need to be redefined, for Cyrodiil to look more favorable. Cyrodiil stands on it's own merit.
Whatever makes you happy.
To me, its open world PvP.
That still doesn't make you right.
Like I said Wpvp does not need to be redefined for Cyrodiil to fit. Cyrodill is the model example for separate PvE/PvP. It has nothing to be ashamed of.
Doesn't matter if it makes me right or not, it's my opinion. If you want to call it something else, go for it.
It's one zone. But, it has been stated that it is the same size as the entire map from Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
It's huge and Epic, and once guild auction houses are in, people will live there. The only reason I see that I have to leave right now is for low level gathering.
but dont you have to que up to get into this area?
I believe you only have to queue when you're entering from the pve world. Once you're in, you should be able to log out and then log right in without a queue.
You do. But, there are so many instances that you're not going to be in queue for long.
It's one zone...big zone...but one zone. If you go to the map size...it takes up maybe 20% of the map, but you que in...no idea why people are trying to call this owpvp...it's not at all. Not knocking it, but it's not owpvp...you can't walk into it and start pvping...it's a que.

what a min, its instanced? so this pvp area has copys of itself like that kind of instance?
Whether or not it's awesome or how many people are participating is a completely different issue.
ok so lets say i go into Cyrodill and its looking bad for my team can i change to another " campaign " ?
in wich im assuming is the same map but different players and outcome on the keeps and such?
