Don't confuse this with those other MMOrpgs. Like Tyserie said, if you're waiting for ESO to go free to play, good luck with that.

ESO would have been better (imo) if it went free to play from the start , it could have been the best f2p game out there but instead it chose to be just another mediocre MMOrpg (as far as i can tell) players dont liek to go back to games that failed and went f2p.

If it was f2p from start it would have been competing with gw2, and i think its better than gw2 ? but instead they are competing with other subbed games and it just doesnt have the features  , content and polish that those games have

No offence but there are no P2P MMOs anymore - just WoW and Eve. Which other P2P that has tons of features and content are you referring to?

I think the game is very solid and I think it would be a no-brainer as B2P but it just doesn't seem worth a sub at this point.

The PvE has been fun so far but I think that having a majority of the end game revolve around questing in other faction zones is pretty lame.    Adventure zones could be interesting but at this point there's nothing really compelling about the concept that would seem worth a sub.

Cyrodiil is cool but I think the campaign system in its current state is a problem, particularly when I can guest on a new campaign every 24 hours making my home campaign that much less important.    At least in GW2, there is a sense of server pride and a weekly reset which keeps things interesting, particularly in the top tiers.

All in all, I'm glad I tried the game and I think it will do well, just not worth a sub for me.

next month going to sub one more month and upgrade to imperial edition....

also then after that ill sub prolly 3 months at a time....

the graphics really impress me here and the engine is really nicely optimized....in two guilds already and building up funds....i actually pulled close to 3K gold farming and fishing and mob killing....

and then just reselling back to a merchant....add the guild store where we can trade and sell our items to fellow guilders....

    sounds interesting

i'll give it another month. Im having fun in the game but the flaws are too big to justify the sub beyond 1-3 months of pve leveling. If/when they fix it then sure i'd sub longer.

Definitely resubing this game, Been a while since i played a great game like this and putting that many hours on one game alone,, i normaly play very casually and take month to get max lvl but  ya,  hit lvl 40 today and plan to continue lvling, I am enjoying every quest so far and the story.

I am very surprised about the game, never thought i would like it so much lol,

Not, if they won't get the biggest bugs out of the game. Especially my banked money, bank slots and  items. Which are still missing even after they claimed that they fixed it. :(

I love the game tho, when it works....

41% is a pretty good . I think SWTOR when it ran similar polls got less.

Sure some guys might raid once or twice a week but it surely isnt a game people spend any massive amounts of time in anymore.

Sorry where are you reading words like "hate".. I cant find any. You understand dislike things like this do not = hate?

I really dislike (not hate come back from la la land) when people do this to defend something.  Something that is super easy.. one of the easiest mmo's to date. So some dont like this. Like want a challenge. Dont even say haha it is. What quest do you get lost in? You can make anything you need, you can get TONS of items just getting chests. Nodes are everywhere..

So yes people are loving this. Its EASY.  Sorry at lvl 22  and on (where I really started to notice)I should not be able to go around ALWAYS easy to proof ..just look on youtube 5 (two at a time) higher levels then me. EASY!

A bug? No.. dont know about you but I was reporting this back 2013 in beta. Nothing nothing changed.

If you like the game and subbed awesome. If you didnt and dont like it, waiting for F2P awesome.

All those options for this pole and nothing that says "not sure yet". i'm barely over a week into my first month so i really don't know. i like game currently.. i'm hoping i continue to like it.. but honestly by next week i could realize i'm just not interested in putting a lot more time into this game. I really don't know yet..

i think bottom line reason that will keep me playing or stop is based on what Zenimax does in first month to address any major ongoing issues and to see quality of patches. if they look like a company that will do well to continue to support the fanbase i'l probably stick around, but i don't know anything about Zenimax and has been a few decisions i haven't liked.. but will give it more time.

So...I don't think I'm going to resub.  The game was a blast out of the gate, had me wanting to log in quite a bit.  The more I leveled the less I found myself being as intrigued.  By level 25 and my 3rd main land zone, I really lost all desire to play not due to quests or combat but due to the length of time to level and the sheer lack of diversity with music and environments across 3 different zones.  I just found myself starting to daydream as I played and can't seem to find myself getting the next 25 + 10 levels to hit cap.

That being said, it wasn't a bad "purchase", I don't regret it, however, I don't see myself playing it in the near future until a ton has been added, tweaked and more quality of life issues put in.  The inventory system is just horrible to me, pvp is just zerg play and running around A LOT for far too long of a time, Dark Anchors are all the same and are worst then WARs static PQs.  Like they put in rifts or pq's and then forgot to spice them up for an alternative to quest based leveling.

Caster combat is still horrible and a pain in the butt making melee the only really fun combat to choose from and the gear is drab and boring no matter the level.

However, the little bit of music there is sounds great, the quest writing is pretty good and skill point progression is nice as long as they keep coming at a reasonable level.  However, I fail to see the "MMORPG" in this game as it feels more like a single player sequel to Skyrim with other players running around beside me killing the same stuff.

I'll hang on to the game though and come back at a later date when I'm in a downtime from other games, I always like to do this with the typical on par MMOs like Rift, Lotro, EQ2 etc.  Definitely not a lot of longevity though, so far. Sadly.

If by "victory" you mean not being "had" by another gaming publisher, then yes. When STO and TSW charged hundreds for life time subscriptions and then turned around and wen F2P within the 1st year, it left a bad taste in player's mouths. While TESO isn't charging for a LTS, it does seem to have one of the more expensive boxed fees of any MMORPG I've seen. This has NOTHING to do with "getting a job"

If you don't even think it's worth $60, why would you play it for free? Is your time seriously worth nothing to you?

I am sorry but I really don't see the connection you have made between the value of my time and the value of a video game.

In fact, I don't see how time plays a role in this at all except for patience. Explain to me how waiting for a financial value is wasting my time? If the game is good now, it can only be better if I can play it for less money and after it's been improved.

If you're saying that you are going to wait until a game goes f2p before you play it, you're simutaneously saying that the game is so bad that you think it will be free soon, yet the game is so good that you're going to watch this forum like a hawk and play it as soon as it doesn't cost anything. It's a giant contradiction in and of itself. It doesn't make you look like you're above it all, it makes you look like a 12 year old that's trying their hardest to be edgy. (not talking about you specifically, but the people on this forum that post on every single game about how they can't wait for them to be f2p)

By the way, if you think that the game will be in a better state once it is free than it is when it has a sub, you're out of your mind. That logic is completely asinine. It will just devolve into another paywall-infested shop simulator

I'm really enjoying this game. I plan on playing it for a while. The fact that it's not f2p is one of the appeals for me.
  • r1tualr1tual Member Posts: 559

I am going to sub on a month by month basis at least until I "max out" my character and get a feel for what content there is at endgamer.

I am still only level 21.

Hopefully by that time Craglorn will be released,  the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quest line's will be implemented,  and most of the major bugs with questing will be fixed.

I want to see them improve on the dungeon finder grouping tool because it is a little lackluster.  And proper guilds and an auction house would be sweet.

  • cptndunselcptndunsel Member UncommonPosts: 136

    yes.

its fun so far. i'm in no rush to hit 50 (seriously - why would anyone want to rush as some have). there are a lot of quests hidden off the beaten path, a lot of different skills to play around with, and i find its enjoyable to run some alts and to experience the game from different classes. I've leveled a DK to 14 as well as a SB (100% bow) and have a couple a sorc and a templar as well.

to those that say the quests feel the same and the zones are unvaried. you have the same thing in Gw2 so I guess you hate that game as well? The voice acting and quests are more fun here than in Gw2, farming mats is nice as well since you are not forced to buy the bloody farming tools over and over, and there is none of this "the skins are what you play for" nonsense we have in Gw2.

Likewise - i prefer this to final fantasy.

The devs will iron out the bugs and add new content - one of the nice things about a sub game. And with Gw2 going to the mega server concept (read that as - player base has declined, we need to reduce hardware spend and consolidate) this is the game to play for awhile.

Its true enough to elder scrolls to keep me interested. lore is decent. main story is decent.

ESO still has a long way to go to mature.
Lots of quests bugged or qust triggers not going off.
Phasing is not working optimal yet.

But damn that pvp.......We went to "ghost" on an diffrent campaign "Scourge" map then Aurials Bow.
There was we had a pvp to a pvp guild fight.

That battle lasted 2 hours and we fought for every inch, at some point we got totaly encircled but held our ground there for 10 minutes against overwhelming odds.
This was a taste of how wvw is going to be !
Most of us were lower level but me and a few others where above V1.
    What a blast !

Havent tried endgame yet so not much to say about that.
But i am sure its going to be ok.

This game gets lots of hate for all diffrent reasons, and some i can understand.
But ESO aint a bad mmo, if you like pvp i dare say its top notch.
GW2 doesnt even come close in terms of epicness that ESO provides.

I have clocked around 1000 hours in GW2 pvp so i aint a newb when comparing these 2 wvw aspects.
I hated to follow that diamond over and over to get shit done or get zerged if you try to go smaller groups.

In ESO there is room for solo / small group / medium group / large group combat.

Give Zenimax time to fix what is wrong, no mmo that launched was perfect.

    Short answer ! resubbed.

  • doragon86doragon86 Member UncommonPosts: 589

Nope. The game has interesting quests and fun PvP. However, there are many bugs, and it's plagued with issues that have already been solved by previous MMOs. It seems as though they set out to make an MMO, but didn't look at past MMOs. Through this they would've learned from their predecessor's mistakes and solutions, and overall created a far better MMO. It feels as though they were struggling between making a single player game, and making an MMO. In time, I believe they'll resolve these issues, but it'll be a while.

"For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed:
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!"

Bought it. Subbed.  Couldn't play it. Got no help from Customer Services.  Cancelled Sub.  Took box back to store. Got refund. Spent money on beer.  Went back to playing other MMOs.

If ever there comes a time where I can casually scan the official forum and not see thousands and thousands of posts about bugged quests, disappearing loot, falling through the landscape, endless death cycles, botters, boss camping, endless loading screens, "unknown error", high latency, pvp loading screens stuck infinitely, disappearing skill points / inventory / bank, characters being deleted, progress being reverted, lack of customer service support, slow download times, phasing and so on.  Then I "might" buy it again.

But it will probably be free by then and Archeage will be out...so likely not.

with that list of negatives i'd forget about Archeage if i were you, as your really only going to be disappointed, if the game only suffers half of the problems ESO has then you'll be lucky, chances are it may even be more and thats before you move on to the games other glaring none bug type issues. Have a good look at all the other MMO's because Archeage really is amongst the least of them. image

Apart from the Koreans have done our Beta testing for us, for the best part of 2 years.  On the game / server side anyway.   The only thing its waiting for for a NA/EU release is translation and local server beta testing.  So factually, you are wrong.

Whereas TESO is in the state archeage was in 4 years ago when it was in closed beta testing...they just decided to release it already. "Gimme your dollars noooooooooww!!!!!"

This repeated statement that "MMOs ALWAYS have problems when they launch...duh..haven't you ever PLAYED an MMO before etc" infuriate me.  Because whilst its true....it shouldn't be.  And it certainly shouldn't be accepted.
