i think bottom line reason that will keep me playing or stop is based on what Zenimax does in first month to address any major ongoing issues and to see quality of patches. if they look like a company that will do well to continue to support the fanbase i'l probably stick around, but i don't know anything about Zenimax and has been a few decisions i haven't liked.. but will give it more time.

Other: Not Sure Yet Due To Game-Breaking Bugs

I fell in love with the game in the last beta weekend, pre-ordered the digital Imperial edition and have been playing it hardcore since early access.

I really like the art, music, storytelling and ambience, which are quite consistent with the Elder Scrolls series I've spent far too much of my life playing.

Yes, the game has lots of bugs and is overrun by bots and gold sellers, but by and large ESO has captivated me and I've really had a blast. If possible, I intend to stay with it for a while.

All that came to a sudden screeching halt last night when I got hit by the Bank Bug, which reset my bank from 100 to 60 slots and zeroed out about 18k of gold.

As far as I can tell, I didn't lose actual items from the bank -- they initially disappeared but later appeared after accessing the bank from a different alt. However, many other players have reported losing not just their banked items, but also their equipped items, skill points and quest progress, which is a much bigger problem.

Googling "eso bank bug" and reviewing the ESO customer support forum shows this problem has affected a percentage of players since early access, and there are also some players who claim this happened in beta, so this is apparently not a new problem.

ZOS currently has no fix, no advice for avoiding the bug (other than to avoid upgrading bank slots or depositing gold in the bank), no ETA for fixing it, the bug can strike multiple times and may be worse next time (i.e., reset character skills and quest progress), and it's not clear exactly what can/will be recovered or will happen once it's fixed.

I can't justify risking further losses while the integrity of the game data is compromised and subject to further corruption, so I've stopped playing until this is resolved.

For me, ESO is "down" and unplayable while this problem remains uncorrected.

If ZOS can fix this reasonably soon and without permanent losses to affected players, I'm willing to stick with ESO for at least another month, and perhaps much longer if they do a good job of squashing the various bugs that weren't fixed in beta (including the bank bug), kicking out the botters, hackers and gold-sellers, soothing the sundry teething pains launch inevitably brings and ensuring there's plenty of content to keep me happy as my characters progress.

If not, then this will probably be my last month in the game, though if I cancel, I would consider resubscribing or catching it in F2P down the road if they don't muck things up too badly.

I don't know which way this will go for now, but I'll know for sure by the end of the month.

I'm prepared for the worst, but hoping for the best.

Gonna be resubbing for sure. Haven't been this engaged in a game since DAoC release, it's nice to see something fresh come out of the MMO genre these days.

I resubbed for a month (not because I don't like the game or want to give them another month but because I hate doing 3/6 month subs.)

I like the game. When I play it I get really enthralled. Great quests, good gameplay,  enjoyable combat. Takes some strategy to take down 3 or more mobs, especially if they have a healer.

With that said I won't say it was a great launch. It was ok. I did not experience some of the game breaking problems others did. Not to say they weren't there just that I did not have any. I was actually more surprised that a lot of the quests from beta that were bugged (and there were a lot of them) were fixed. I like the crafting, loved the PvP, loved the atmosphere of Glenumbra.

Given all that I will resub. I like the game, I have fun, I enjoy myself and I will continue until I no longer enjoy myself then I will quit.

This is exactly how i expected to be, i stayed clear of this game, no beta, didn't get hyped, knew nothing about the game cause i was pretty sure it was a money grab cash in flop from the day i heard about it, only bought it on request of my kids to play with them and am now surprisingly hooked on it. My one kid said after one of his beta weekends "they nailed it" and i can understand now that he was pretty correct in his findings, they nailed the fun factor.

A recent funny thing is i played all ES games and finished Morrowind, and Oblivion, Skyrim for some reason i couldn't get any tracktion going with that one, NOW, i have been firing up Skyrim nearly every day, lol...

One could say ESO leaves you longing for some good quality ES, but if you accept ESO for what it is and all the things it's not, it's a pretty damn good game.

As an mmo it has plenty of shortcomings, as an ES game it has even more. I could create a list on each side that are real hard issues/problems with the game as a whole, but it all comes down to one thing, i'm having a f'in great time. So meh, it bothers me not.

I could see that happening.  Look how ravenous the trolls and haters are now.  Imagine if everyone was like that....Wow would have been shut down in the first month, mmos would have never gone mainstream and the current generation of MMOs could have ended up all sandboxes....

Curious forum poster: "Hey guys Wow looks interesting.  How is it?"

Average hater: "Dude no.  Crap just crap.  You have a little sword and yellow pants have like two attacks.  All you do is kill wolves."

Average hater: "Seriously.  The entire game...two attacks....killing wolves....yellow pants...."

Subbed for 3 months.  Still so much to do and have yet to reach level 20.

My hubby and I are having a blast running around in this game, exploring, working on achievements, etc.  First game in a long time that we've played so intently together.  Hopefully by the time we max out a character, there is more content added.

Probably for another month, past that really can't say if it will continue to hold my interest.

Yes, I'm resubbing. I'm still shocked how much I'm enjoying it. Here's hoping they fix what I don't like (Guild Store interface, I'm looking at you) before the end of the month.

If by "victory" you mean not being "had" by another gaming publisher, then yes. When STO and TSW charged hundreds for life time subscriptions and then turned around and wen F2P within the 1st year, it left a bad taste in player's mouths. While TESO isn't charging for a LTS, it does seem to have one of the more expensive boxed fees of any MMORPG I've seen. This has NOTHING to do with "getting a job"

If you don't even think it's worth $60, why would you play it for free? Is your time seriously worth nothing to you?

I am sorry but I really don't see the connection you have made between the value of my time and the value of a video game.

In fact, I don't see how time plays a role in this at all except for patience. Explain to me how waiting for a financial value is wasting my time? If the game is good now, it can only be better if I can play it for less money and after it's been improved.

If you're saying that you are going to wait until a game goes f2p before you play it, you're simutaneously saying that the game is so bad that you think it will be free soon, yet the game is so good that you're going to watch this forum like a hawk and play it as soon as it doesn't cost anything. It's a giant contradiction in and of itself. It doesn't make you look like you're above it all, it makes you look like a 12 year old that's trying their hardest to be edgy. (not talking about you specifically, but the people on this forum that post on every single game about how they can't wait for them to be f2p)

By the way, if you think that the game will be in a better state once it is free than it is when it has a sub, you're out of your mind. That logic is completely asinine. It will just devolve into another paywall-infested shop simulator

It's not as black and white as you claim. The game looks interesting to me. But not so much that I see the value in it's current asking price. Less, maybe. But not where it is now. That of course is subject to change. If I do get my hands on it, I'll give it a spin for a period of time and go from there. Simple as that. Any other qualifications you apply to that statement are based out of your own subjectivity, not mine.

You do realize that ESO has 3 different story lines? Each alliance has it's own lands to explore and quests to play through...

Nope. I bought the game, stuck with it, but luckily I havent even put my key in. Maybe ill type it in after I get bored of Wildstar, or maybe ill just say "screw it" and try to sell the key to someone. Not regretting my purchase ... yet.

It was a fun game, but I ultimately got a refund.  I plan on picking it up for the PS4, since I can definitely see it translating well to the consoles.  That will hopefully give them enough time to sort out some of the bugs and launch issues, not to mention figure out where they stand on the way they handle billing.

So despite getting a refund, I found the game enjoyable (from a casual player perspective) and plan on purchasing it again on the PS4.

This is why I said this poll is crap. People are bound to get confused. You are a prime example of this. 41% is not right. Why? Because there are 3 options for people who never bought the game and those add up to 35% of total votes. So your 41% are 41% of all people who bought the game and those 35% who never bought the game. So in theory is it is way higher. I can't be bothered to recalculate it though.

I will resub for sure because I am really enjoying the game. At first I was not enjoying it but one day it just clicked on me. Until something better comes out I will be playing Elder Scrolls Online.

  • Brisky29Brisky29 Member Posts: 65
Yes I WILL SUB. I can't predict how long, but for the next half year at least. First game in the last 8 years that has captured me like this, I have not run into near the problems I see posted around, neither have my friends, we have been lucky.
