Ok, i do not agree to all the points being raised as negatives in the review and i also think that the author missed some of the strong points of the game.
I do however wonder why he also missed some of the blatant flaws that game has at this point and think with 68/100 it got away generously.
6/10 on my scale, with a tendecy to go further down if you also want to bring up the "how much actual Elder Scrolls does Zenimax deliver with ESO?" subject.
Agreed. I would be more generous with 7 or 8 out of 10. What annoys me the most so far is the bugs, the horrible guild shop interface (really, can't search item by name!) and the vast amount of gold seller spam on general chat. I just play with guild or group chat on to avoid the endless spam...

Hmmm average review eh ? .... but no matter , its coming from a very mediocre and below average website , I really like ESO but I don't think its the second coming or anything. But this guy is sooo way of the mark its kind of laughable . I'm not generally cynical , but maybe Zenimax didn't pay them enough money , who knows ...

No worries, people will get their highscore, hard pros+soft cons "review" in time...just keep an eye on the mainpage of this website.

Looks like this game has more haters than allies then.
What does this tell you ah?
ESO does have an abnormal amount of hating going on. I've been around a long time and I don't recall seeing this level of hate.
That's because there doesn't appear to be the same zeal for containment from the powers that be that existed for GW2.
I know from personal experience that the fans were so rabid that any negative post was reported enough to warrant a ban. I wasn't being nasty, just telling it like it was. First bans in all my years here and since. It was truly insane.
But any ignorant first-post can spread horrible misinformation about ESO, as well as general vitriol from our wonderful community here. Go figure.

Tbh , I have no problem with average reviews if they are well thought out and written with at least a little objectivity , but after reading this guys full review , I cant help feeling that he has a bit of an agenda against this game , I might be wrong .. I personally like ESO and as I said its not perfect but I believe it deserves a little more respect than this guy gave it ...
A 68/100 is pretty much on the mark actually. In university, that's a B grade. It's gorgeous and it's a fun game. It doesn't really "shake the foundation" of MMO's, it's certainly not THE MMORPG that people have been waiting for. What it does, it does mostly well. I had fun in beta, just not enough fun to warrant spending the money they wanted. To those that are happy, enjoy it and keep us posted! Who knows what the future holds?
Since i would rate a VERY good game as a 7/10 that 6.8 is a pretty good score. Most people know exactly what a developer COULD do to make a triple A game and nobody is doing that so nobody, not one single game can boast even an 8/10 rating.
Physics, top end graphics,EVERY possible feature, high poly models, tons of variances in AI,complex systems, virtual reality nobody is doing any of this, they are all making budget games that allow them to make a large profit so they can be paid 100+k a year and the big shots make multi millions.

Why is it that "honest" on this forum almost always directly translates to "I don't like this game and I've found someone who agrees with me."

An entirely worthless response considering your claim can always be turned on itself.
I'm willing to bet that most of the haters are mmorpg power gamers that have had years of experience playing mmorpgs. They're probably burned out on any type of quest where you need to kill x or collect something. They probably couldn't tell you their alliance's NPC leader's name. A ton of people I know just aren't enjoying the game because they refuse to be a 'lore-nerd' or an 'RPnerd'. Well, too bad - Elder Scrolls games have always been about lore. If you just power through the game and grind the quests, skipping all the dialogue, of course you're not going to enjoy them. Maybe it's the players themselves or maybe it's the game's quest objective markers. The people who rush from objective marker to objective marker aren't enjoying the game, in my experience, they also end up under leveled and complaining in /zone chat.
New game in some people love it some people hate it shocker, more from Tom at 10.
This is a review, a subjective opinion designed to be read and create discussion (and thus clickthroughs) on the PCgamer website. The reviewer sets out what he likes and doesnt and gives an arbitrary number meant to coalesce his or her conflicting thoughts on a product.
Its an opinion, there are many out there. I personally have neither side in this, I find TESO to be an accomplished polished but in some ways lacking game that thus far has yet to grab me and has yet to put me off. All this "Hater" and "fanboi" talk is the internet polarising its opinions and then looking for validation that each persons opinion is the one true chosen opinion.
If you like it great, if you hate it, great, doesnt mean everyone will feel the same and if they do it might be for wildly different reasons. The great thing about the MMO Market is no matter what your playstyle there is a game out there for you, or atleast near enough, and if there isn't and there is a real verifiable sustainable market for it, well some one is probably working on it.
The problem is MMO gamers are stuck between two generations, the older gamer like me that remembers the "Good old days" (Through rose tinted glasses) and the newer player who thinks that old games are made up more of speed barriers than time sinks. This is a problem because the only audience that is really vocal and organised are the ones that dislike something, counterbalanced by a few people who want their chosen game to be the one true game to rule them all. Because the internet knows if you like something that some one else doesnt you need a label to justify their continued holding of their position.
Who cares what reviews say, either you like the game or you dont, its an entertainment product and entertainment is subjective.
If it wasnt there would only be 1 game and 1 tv show and 1 book ever written.
Going to make it tough for MMORPG to justify their 11.9 FANTASTICO! But in all seriousness, people you can claim opinion or whatever and say it doesn't matter but it does, reviews drive sales and PC Gamer has a substantial following. Also once the flood gates have been opened the rest of the review sites will be more than likely to give an honest opinion rather than follow the FANTASTICO script. And without sales the game will struggle, go FTP, or both.

Don't really care on the review, good or bad. However isn't this same reviewer that played beta for next to no time, and was caught on Reddiit saying he couldn't see the point in reviewing it again, as his mind was made up?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I don't agree with the review, but some might.
I'm still having a great time personally.
I as well don't agree entirely with the PC Gamer score, but to each there own.
I guess everyone looks for that special mmo that they can immerse themselves into it and feel part of.
ESO so far has been good to me, however I am not dropping hours upon hours each day like some gamer's these days.
I am still waiting for Repop, however until then, ESO to me is more refreshing that what we already got out there.

Question. how do you know that "Most Haters" are beta testers? I hope you're not using the dubious posts on the forums.
I self identify as a monkey.
